    6:09 Most DSLR and mirrorless cameras have a recording time limit for video. I’m pretty sure this is true for Sony and other manufacturers. It’s in part because of import tariffs on video cameras and also to prevent overheating.

    Hi Jennifer - good news, the 29 minutes, 59 seconds video time limit on the Canon 5D Mark IV is for one continuous take. The camera will turn off recording at that point, but you can hit the record button again and record another take. So bottom line, you can shoot for hours, but each take or clip is limited to 29 minutes, 59 seconds. That's not really too big a problem as most clips are much shorter than that.

      @@overbrookstudio5246 Yes, correct 👍🏻 It’s really not a big deal unless you are a filming a wedding ceremony start to finish with one camera and the ceremony goes over 30 minutes.

    What did you record this video with? Quality is great!

      Thank you! I filmed this video with my Canon R6 Mark ii, that way I could show my Canon 5D Mark IV in the video. I recorded the audio with my Tascam DR-10L clip-on microphone.

      That's awesome! I've actually never shot with the Canon 5D Mark iii, as I went straight to the Canon 5D Mark IV! What do you love about the Mark iii version?

      Great question! I used my Canon R6 Mark ii to film the video so that I could show my Canon 5D Mark IV in the video!

    I would love to upgrade from my 80d, maybe the used mk1s will come down in price soon.

    With my UA-cam feed blowing up with Canon R1. Interesting that a 5D IV showed up.
    Never went past the Classic. Moved to Sony and now strictly Monochrom

    Why do you think mirrorless cameras do not have a mechanical shutter?

    • @jennifercookephotography
      @jennifercookephotography  6 місяців тому +2

      Hello! Thank you for your comment! Mirrorless camera bodies are mechanically simpler than DSLR cameras which makes them smaller and quieter because mirrorless camera bodies don't have a moving mirror. Interestingly, some mirrorless camera bodies have an electronic shutter while some have a mechanical shutter. In the video, I believe I meant that the Canon R6 Mark ii doesn't have actual mirrors in the camera sensor which makes it have less mechanical moving parts, but it still has some.

      @@jennifercookephotography Yeah, only the latest models do not have mechanical shutters. The main difference defining the size and weight is the mirror system.

      @@evtimstefanov8377 Yes, that makes complete sense! It's always nice to have a lighter camera body!

    The Canon 5D Mk IV is one heck of a camera. I bought one last year and it is actually really versatile although not great for action/sports work due to the auto focus system - the camera is really a landscape/studio/wedding camera though and to be honest all you really need unless you want to go Medium Format.
    I ended up selling mine last month along with a 1D X Mk II to purchase second 1D X Mk III as going to the 1D X Mk2 or 5D was a major drawback - the AF system and touch AF point button is just game changing on the 1D X Mk III for me. If you think CF cards are expensive though, CF Express is a whole new level of pain on the wallet!! LOL
    I might at some point get an R3 and do the switch to mirrorless; however, at the moment the 1D X Mk IIIs are such workhorses and I'm super happy/confident with them so don't see the point at this time.

      That's awesome! I find that I will keep using the same equipment as long as it's getting the job done for me that I need it to do! And as soon as I need something better, that's when I think about upgrading!
