    Unfortunately some parts were cut out because of copyright blocking the video globally so if it randomly skips and doesn't seem to make sense that's why.

    7:20 Yeah, look at what happened to Dead or Alive when they tried to tone down the "t n' a" in the recent game's first teasers.

    The funny thing is that, in the end, the reduction of the skill gap in SF5 never even made it possible for actual worse players to win. There is too much strategy and experience involved that you'd need to literally make the game 100 times easier even now to give non-competitive players a chance. There is so much outside of combos that its ridiculous to suggest that you can make people win by making those easier. And in SF6, while keeping a still more lenient input system (because it was almost annoying to input some stuff in older games), they made combos a bit harder again by adding more options to continue to route combos. And well they returned more defensive options.
    In fact Lupe Fiasco didn't even beat Daigo because of the reason of reducing a skill gap, but Daigo himself straight up put on a show for everyone and the audience to grow the scene. You could tell when he was playing serious and in which rounds he just did random things. He ended up only losing the match he basically crafted to be as close as possible because of a change in a move he didnt know was a thing between SF4 to SF5 (specifically he tried to use the heavy vesion of shoryuken to antir air like he would in SF4, but it wasn't invulnerable to air attacks anymore, so he got hit).
    Pretty much everyone that won big international tournaments was someone people already knew, or that has been building up their skill for a while. The only time it changed was in the last year where a 16 year old british kid starting beating everyones asses because he is a prodigy.
    Also funnily enough the characters that had the most skins were never the most competitively viable ones.

    I hate skill-based-matching. Back in the day, all LAN gaming were "party game" and all had a great time. Most rank systems, is based on time played or arbitrary kill count. "eSports" is possibly the worst thing that could have happened to gaming.
