I had this idea: they each start a series where they take someone who is a beginner and they each have a week to battle each other, and the winner fights the person who taught them
Hey I have a video recommendation! This is a format that me and my friends have done before to slow-down the game and make them more fun. If you like the idea I would LOVE to see you all try it out. We play a format where everything is limited to 1, and nothing is banned. We keep life totals at 8000 and deck limitations are the same. This is hands down the most fun I've had while dueling in the modern era. It may sound crazy, but with every single card limited to 1, then even the most broken cards and combos become balanced. The only exceptions to the limited to 1 run was when we wanted to have fun and allowed 3 blue-eyes white dragons (for obvious reasons), Thunder Dragon (allowed 2), Harpie Lady (allowed 3). The true challenge with this format is building decks with consistency despite having limited options. It may be tempting to suddenly use a shit-ton of banned cards, but we found those decks to be horribly inconsistent and not fun at all. Good luck!
The ice barriers aren't as bad as everyone is saying. They're honestly fun. They're not meta by any stretch of the imagination, but they're fun as heck to play.
hey I'm kinda new to yugioh only playing the ds games I have a question at 13:22 wasn't inari fire destroyed by battle? its effect says that it can only be special summoned from the gy if it was destroyed by a card effect then why did they special summon it? is being destroyed by battle considered a "card effect"? Also at 14:38 eria the water charmer left the field right? and its effect of taking control of the opponent's monster is as long as she's face up in the field she was then tributed so why was he still in control of the Syncro monster? am really confused right now
So technically there was a huge misplay in Duel 1 since Gungnir is supposed to return to Alec’s field when Eria is tributed so I’ll let it pass since this was all for fun but in tournament play I think the judges would’ve not let it slide still great video
From what i've heard, if you throw in a few toads, Ice Barrier works fine. I'm sure its not a busted archetype, but i imagine its still a fun casual deck.
I just realized that they did the Freezing Chains SD and I love this deck! So glad to see that epic 2x Trishula control at the end there! Awesome dueling both of you!
The duels were so much fun! Yugioh is so hard to get back into with all this madness. especially for completely new players, but these decks actually seem good to teach/learn the basics.
Sorry I’m late but I would not recommend them to start off with they have a lot more mechanisms in this deck then what you think I would recommend dinosmashers and zombie hord for your first decks back into the game
@@johnmalivore4319 There's no new mechanics from these 2 SD's... it's literally just a basic synchro deck with relatively strong boss monsters and spellcasters that rely really heavily on attributes to get to work. If trying to get into competitive, I would highly recommend trying Monarchs-- they're super affordable because most of the cards needed are in $10 SD's, they're easy to use because you just tribute summon and win, and very effective against most decks in this game because they shut down the extra deck hard. For fun/casual, probably do ABC's... they're consistent because Union Hangar and B-Buster Drake, they splash well with a lot of XYZ because they're all level 4, and they have a pretty gnarly boss monster, ABC-Dragon Buster, also cheap, most of what you need is in the Kaiba SD. Just from there pick up a Gear Gigant X, a couple Platinum Gadgets, and the Gold/Silver kit and carry on with whatever strat you want because level 4 = OP.
Couple of things ive noticed so far in game 1: Sitting on possessed partnership and activating weird times. Had you chained it to trishula eff you probably would've won. It would summon eria and destroy trishula and due to fact you now control a spellcaster with 1500def your ichirin would've negated trishula. Inari also doesnt work that way, needs to be destroyed by effect to summon itself back. Most people cycle ranryu/jigabytes to stall. Ill carry on with vid though (still entertaining, im not hating) Edit: just hit unpause and saw you use eria charmer to steal his synchro then send your charmer to GY for greater inari xD immediately after saying she has to remain on field xd
I normally like playing with actual cards but the one thing I like more about virtual card games is that silly mistakes like that synchro staying under his control don't happen
@@Deus35 lol, in all fairness to them, if you gave me 3 ice barrier structure decks, 30min to make a deck and play it, i'd make a steaming pile of dog turd and have no idea to pilot it. I think for the purposes of this duel it was intended to go in with little knowledge of the decks. But yeah, maybe a bit more background reading to get an idea of what the deck does
Misplays so far: * Revived "Inari Fire" onto the field after it was killed by "Gungnir" - twice and third time after killed by Undine (in third duel). * Failed to return "Gungnir" back to "Freezing Chains" duelist's control after "Eria the Water Charmer" left the field.
Also, in the third duel when using possessed partnerships it says he can destroy a card on the field (he chooses Gungnir) so long as he controls monsters with two or more different attributes, but he only controlled water monsters, unless I'm missing something.
@@robertbundy6173 Don't forget that you can only activate 1 Possessed Partnerships effect per turn... lol. He activated the first effect, illegally by only having water attribute, and then used the 2nd effect, which you can't do 2 of the effects on 1 turn.
Paul misplayed around the 15:08 time marker. He used a Charmer card to take control of Al's Gungnir Dragon OTIB but the effect stated that he only has control of that monster as long as that card remains on the field. When he tributed that card to summon another, it left the field and before the battle phase began he was supposed to return the card but he attacked with both for game. That misplayed changed the outcome of that match.
13:21 Ok, if I´m not mistaken this was a misplay. According to the card effect in 13:11 it only comes back if it was destroyed by a card effect, and it was destroyed by battle. Is there a new rule where battle is considered "card effect"? I ask seriously because I haven't played in literally 8 years
yeah, he should've lost a few times due to misplaying the cards in the first duel. Gungir shouldve returned to his owner after the tribute since the monster who was taking it was no longer on the field.
After stopping yugioh for 6 or 7 years, Freezing Chains is the first yugioh deck I bought. Anyways, there's a misplay. Gungnir Should return to the owner when Eria leaves the field
I'm just glad you guys combine THREE copies of the structure deck when you do this. Too many channels decides to just play with one of the structure decks which doesn't showcase the abilities of said structure decks
Freezing chains is good if you ask me. With these cards you can get monsters back easily from the GY, put enemy monsters back to the hand or banish/destroy them. And you can also use freezing chanes multiple times if you get the big kitty to the field :D
Weirdly enough, freezing chains was my favorite yugioh deck. Im speaking as a VERY new player to this game and im sure there’s better decks out there but freezing chains was the only deck i found that made sense in my brain XD
I really like both of these decks. I honestly don't care for the meta, I just like playing with my favorites. I always wanted to make a deck around the charmers and though this starter deck needs work, it's still playable and can be fun. That's at least all that matters to me :)
14:08 I got a doubt. When Eria the water Charmer leaves the field, the control of the synchro summon remains In the aide of the Charmer player or the synchro monsters has to comeback to his owner? 🤔
i went to walmart and ice barriers was the only pack they had and i was just getting into yugioh, and i used it against all my somewhat seasoned friends. I Beat them all, and i am now the champ of my friend group. I also bought spirit charmers, and they're the only 2 packs i have until my code breaker pack ships in
I finished my Familiar-Possessed deck, and i absolutely love these spellcasters. I use all the familiar and charmers, and focus on Eda the Sun Magician.
I'm a Pokemon TCG player and I'm greatly enjoying watching these videos. I don't think I'll get into YGO seriously but the Structure decks look super fun, so I might try to convince my gf to play them with me lol. Subbed!
I know I'm very late to the party, but the fact that a Spirit Charmer deck exists warms my soul! (As someone who hasn't played a duel in the last 10 years, and who remembers when the charmers were just a cute little set of monsters you could find in booster packs)
Charmers have come a long way to become such a popular archetype that not only have been receiving support but also merchandise like figurines, plushies, wall scrolls, playmats, sleeves, etc.
Man, you guys are totally some of my favorite people man. I looooove watching these duels. You guys get detailed and help me figure out what's going on even while I'm working and can't specifically watch everything.
At 14:24 control of the sychro would have switched back to Alec since the charmer left the field. 25:21 unpossessed would be placed on the field face up
This is how I loved to play yugioh. Pick a structure deck adjust it with only 2 other copies of the same deck and battle someone else with the same formula. So much fun to me.
Freezing Chains; for Ice Barriers did what SB’s did and gave the deck an actual strategy, except much less impactful and a lot more flawed. Spirit Charmers did absolutely nothing for the “archetype” it was supporting. Oh sure they got a Search card; but every other card they got was dogshit as were the reprints besides DRNM. The deck’s only option is literally just stun, and tons of decks do what it does better; Guru, Gren Maju, Mystic Mine, etc.
The Charmer deck was a pure cash grab by Konami. We got no new extra deck Monsters, no reprints of the existing Charmer Links, and in place of cards that could help the deck, we got Alt arts and Tokens, that were random, and you had to buy the SD like it was a booster pack. :/ It's surprising how blatant a rip off this Structure Deck was.
Spirit Charmers had a cool gag, random tokens, random ultra, and random gamemat but the way it’s flip summon cards work is terrible Overall, spirit charmers had NONE of their links, low defense and trash flip effect, low attack value.
Bro Alec since finding you guys I’ve seen a lot of videos from spanning all sorts of time frames. You be really trimmed up in the last year man. Congratulations bro. That’s huge. Looking good, family.
Well, from what I know. The deck doesn't do anything competitively, and we've been having a streak of Structure Decks that are purely casual. Where as awhile back, you could legit buy three copies of an SD, get some cards to support the deck, and have something viable. Not to mention, usually the casual decks come with expensive reprints, allowing it to appeal to both demographics. But Charmers and Ice Barrier's have nothing.
They both made kinda wonky deck building choices. I think there was only one Hexa Spirit in the Ice Barrier and the inclusion of base Eria in Charmers was weird
Ice Barrier structure deck is pretty decent with 3x actually. Easy to special summon, synchro, and banish cards. Plus, many cards that you can block your opponent from attacking, tributing, changing position, and more. It's not "top tier", but it can be fun and decent. Spirit Charmers can be pretty good as well, but only as a Familiar-Possessed deck
Honestly these guys are just enough to listen to. I’ll space out and them playin’ is just nice for the background and to jump back in the video. This is enough to cure depression swings. I know this is random and a lil too deep. But Team APS is the reason I’ve gotten back into Yugioh for this past month and a half.
I've been going back and watching some of the old videos and gotta say i love the effort you've put into the new layouts and animations. really awesome now, keep it up!
The format of this duel video is so dope, I’m loving the camera setup and the cards displayed on activation! I would love to see a legit dueling room set up that’s like a mini stadium or even backgrounds for your face cams

Or would they be delivered in parts as ill be ordering cards from different sets? Or would that not matter as im buying them all at once they'll all arrive together regardless of what set / buyer i am buying from? Would like to know if anyone can help me out. Thanks! 😊
I recently bought 3 of the Ice Barrier deck. I love it, being a control based player in other games, so I can make full use of locking down enemies. Spirit Charmers when you know what your enemy runs can easily lock them down though, as shown here.

People who hated the ice barrier are ao because they can't defeat the dragons
I buy yesterday x3 of ice baries and i will use new monsters becouse they are good and fun :)
@@atomixzxc I hope you enjoy them! That's all that matters. And winning. Lol
@@atomixzxc i could only afford to buy 2 so i bought 1 of each packs, they had really neat monsters
I agree, I like the ice barriers structure deck as a casual deck.
hey I'm kinda new to yugioh only playing the ds games I have a question at 13:22 wasn't inari fire destroyed by battle? its effect says that it can only be special summoned from the gy if it was destroyed by a card effect then why did they special summon it? is being destroyed by battle considered a "card effect"?
Also at 14:38 eria the water charmer left the field right? and its effect of taking control of the opponent's monster is as long as she's face up in the field she was then tributed so why was he still in control of the Syncro monster? am really confused right now
Freezing chains is my first deck getting back into yugioh I love em
i’m starting to get into yugioh now my cousin gave me his deck
same !
13:13 paul cheated, inari fire is only meant to summon itself if destroyed by card effect, not battle
So technically there was a huge misplay in Duel 1 since Gungnir is supposed to return to Alec’s field when Eria is tributed so I’ll let it pass since this was all for fun but in tournament play I think the judges would’ve not let it slide still great video
Let's not forget that he was still alive at that point thanks to an effect that Inari Fire doesn't have ^^
I got the structure deck a week ago 3x and i love the swarming and the effects of the little monsters!
Charmers are SO much worse than ice barrier.
14:13 shouldn't gungnir's control get back to his owner when tributting eria?
i think so too
The duels were so much fun!
Spirit charmers is really good for starters to get faster understanding over combos and specific targetting
Couple of things ive noticed so far in game 1:
Sitting on possessed partnership and activating weird times.
Ill carry on with vid though (still entertaining, im not hating)
Edit: just hit unpause and saw you use eria charmer to steal his synchro then send your charmer to GY for greater inari xD immediately after saying she has to remain on field xd
I normally like playing with actual cards but the one thing I like more about virtual card games is that silly mistakes like that synchro staying under his control don't happen
THat last part is what I was going to comment on, like bruh. These are supposed to be pros?
@@Deus35 lol, in all fairness to them, if you gave me 3 ice barrier structure decks, 30min to make a deck and play it, i'd make a steaming pile of dog turd and have no idea to pilot it.
I think for the purposes of this duel it was intended to go in with little knowledge of the decks. But yeah, maybe a bit more background reading to get an idea of what the deck does
@@underkitten the dumb thing is he reads the effect out loud and then tributes the charmer
At 14:20 he didn't have the monster face up on the field so he should had lost controll of the synchro monster
Misplays so far:
* Revived "Inari Fire" onto the field after it was killed by "Gungnir" - twice and third time after killed by Undine (in third duel).
Bought both of these structure decks and been waiting for this vid... APS is clutch
Yeah plus he tributed 2 monsters for a level 5 and you only need 1 tribute unless that’s what the card says which I don’t know if it does
that was a bad choice xD, no good reprints and a pretty subpar core overall not even swap frogs...
same you’re not alone
@@SwagMaster824 read the effect
@@SwagMaster824 the level 5 requires that you tribute a Spellcaster and a monster of the same attribute to summon this card from the deck or hand.
I mean, if something isn't currently the meta it doesn't mean its bad...
Alternate title: Waifu Charmers with their pets vs Icy monsters
The charmers are xhildren XDDDDD
*children
How come, starting at 14:06, when he tributes eria the water charmer to make the the greater flame thing, does he get to keep the gungnir?
Misplay on game 1? Your Eria was no longer on the field returning the control of gungnir.
Also no ichirin negate at minute 6
Inari fire was also misplayed
14:08 I got a doubt. When Eria the water Charmer leaves the field, the control of the synchro summon remains In the aide of the Charmer player or the synchro monsters has to comeback to his owner? 🤔
i went to walmart and ice barriers was the only pack they had and i was just getting into yugioh, and i used it against all my somewhat seasoned friends.
I Beat them all, and i am now the champ of my friend group. I also bought spirit charmers, and they're the only 2 packs i have until my code breaker pack ships in
I ordered me 3 Freezing Chains structure decks and they'll arrive February 28th. ps: i ordered them on the 25th of February 2022.
i won two structure deck tornaments with those structure decks
yea same i think they are actually good
The frozen chains one is my favorite one so far.
tehn your opponents must be trash :D
Really loving the the grey backdrop, wood table and general production. Big fan of all of it 🥰
Awe ya, I’m in the “posted 12 seconds ago” party
Huh? You can make a dope af deck with the ice barrier structure
Worst? Oh you sweet summer child.
Man this video came out when i just bought the freezing chains deck
0:26 the most awkward "I don't really wanna do this" head nod of all time lmao
Freezing Chains isn't the worst structure deck though. Add the Crystron package and it becomes a somewhat decent midrange deck with good consistency.
Man, you guys are totally some of my favorite people man. I looooove watching these duels. You guys get detailed and help me figure out what's going on even while I'm working and can't specifically watch everything.
I'm currently on a quest to top my locals with Charmers. Wish me luck boys and girls!
I wish you good luck!!
Did you win?
@@phantomnite Went 3 and 2. I'm gonna keep trying.
@@23jewfan not bad, keep at it
Let's be real there are no girls here
At 14:24 control of the sychro would have switched back to Alec since the charmer left the field.
25:21 unpossessed would be placed on the field face up
Paul you missplayed , you only keep the monsters charmers take control of as long as their face up when you flip them
This is how I loved to play yugioh.
It's surprising how blatant a rip off this Structure Deck was.
Spirit Charmers had a cool gag, random tokens, random ultra, and random gamemat but the way it’s flip summon cards work is terrible
Overall, spirit charmers had NONE of their links, low defense and trash flip effect, low attack value.
@@SakuraAvalon You’d think they’d at least capitalize on the waifu tax and try to make the thing tier 1.
Bro Alec since finding you guys I’ve seen a lot of videos from spanning all sorts of time frames. You be really trimmed up in the last year man. Congratulations bro. That’s huge. Looking good, family.
Thank you for reppin Ice Barriers for me! Ice Barriers are sick!
The quality of the videos just keeps going up. Great work guys!
"Worst Structure Decks"
Geargia: *nervous sweating*
Try all of the GX SD decks. Good lord those were pretty bad. I think the only good one was the Water one?
Geargia was my first lol, loved it

Yu-Gi-Oh video sponsored by hair loss treatment 😂😭 come on bro
Balding Yu-Gi-Oh! veterans
This back and forth is so fun to watch. I really enjoy your themed duel videos. Try to make less misplays but I get that they do happen.
“Love” this decks
Spirit charmers is actually one of my favorites
Ice barriers are pretty handy tbh, I really like the deck and I dont get why ppl talking shit ab it. So unfair
Inari fire only returns if it was destroyed by card effect? Duel 1 had a lot of misplays.
Theres no way the ice barrier deck loses unless he built it incorrect lol
That’s what I’m saying bro
They both made kinda wonky deck building choices. I think there was only one Hexa Spirit in the Ice Barrier and the inclusion of base Eria in Charmers was weird
@@KikiCatMeow na they played with 3 structures each lol
@@thecrimsomcardyugioh9810 yeah I know they did, I'm just saying I think they only put in one of the Hexa spirits
They said that normally they make missplays because they dont want to have a clear advantage. I respect that, they just want an exiciting duel.
The charmer structure decks are good easy flips. Tons of cards in there to turn a profit
Playing a children's Card game do make you lose hair
I've been going back and watching some of the old videos and gotta say i love the effort you've put into the new layouts and animations. really awesome now, keep it up!
Pro players: charmer structure deck sucks i won't buy it.
Hentai fans: lets pick up one of these...
I don’t know how any of these card effects work, but I’m still entertained. Keep up the good work
Misplay with the inari; it only returns when destroyed by card effect. Not blaming ya tho, I had to read that correctly the first time i got the deck
Buzzin for the Egyptian god's structure deck duel
The format of this duel video is so dope, I’m loving the camera setup and the cards displayed on activation! I would love to see a legit dueling room set up that’s like a mini stadium or even backgrounds for your face cams
Hey I got a question, I was thinking of ordering cards from TCG player but I never have. So I'm wondering if I buy cards from different sets but I add them all to my cart and make one transaction, does that mean I'll be getting all those cards I purchased at the same delivery day? Or would they be delivered in parts as ill be ordering cards from different sets? Or would that not matter as im buying them all at once they'll all arrive together regardless of what set / buyer i am buying from? Would like to know if anyone can help me out. Thanks! 😊
So basically its like Ebay so each separate package will be sent to you individually
I recently bought 3 of the Ice Barrier deck. I love it, being a control based player in other games, so I can make full use of locking down enemies. Spirit Charmers when you know what your enemy runs can easily lock them down though, as shown here.
