So, question. When you fuse glass this way, can it be chipped and knapped into an arrowhead shape? Because I make arrows out of glass bottles and I simply abhor the waste glass that comes from the production of a single arrow. You basically can use only the bottoms of the bottle, nothing else.
Hi Christine. The elements are silicon carbide, common emery wheel/grinding wheel available at hardware shops. The silicon carbide can be cut with a grinder with a ceramic cutting disk fitted. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want. Thank you for watching 🤗
@@thebeachfishing Thanks a lot! I'm trying to find the video 😅.. I do have the same kind of bricks😉 but, what about the long side stones around the perimeter of the inside of the oven, what kind of material is this? Is it carburo de silicio/green silicon carbide, the one used for polishing glass? Thanks a lot for your time and all of these info!! 🤩🥳😍
Hi Miriam. The elements are made from silicone carbide. I'll make a video for you to show you how. Thanks so much for watching. Please subscribe, I'll show you the whole process :)
Full thickness red stained glass blocks too much light, so long ago they learned to coat a clear base of glass with thinner red glass so more light can pass get through. In this case, 1 layer of clear glass and 1 layer of red glass between the two layers of the same lighter colored pieces would probably result in a pendant with the same uniform thickness but a lighter shade of red of red in the middle.
Hi Chris. Thanks for watching. This is spectrum glass and ordinary marbles. Bottle glass and window glass works too. The important thing is not to mix different types of glass with different contraction rates. I'll make a video using bottle glass for you, or any other glass you suggest. Thanks again for watching, please be so kind as to subscibe. Thank you
I was looking up different ways to melt glass at home and came across this. I'm happy I did because it looks fun.
Thank you for the upload:)
You make it simple and you get to it, great video, love the art, thanks for sharing.
Excellent!!!.. another awesome video!!..great info!!.. so much fun! Thank you for sharing!!..
Great vid… you can hold your glass elements by using PVA glue

Yes, if 6.5mm is a good thickness to use. When molten, glass settles 6.5mm thick
HELLO, THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO MAKE SIMPLIFIED CAPS OF "ELEMENTS" OR ANY OTHER MATERIAL?
you can use a chisel to chop pieces of grinding disk to use as elements. Thanks for watching Vladimir
That was amazing! You have a new subscriber!😃
You just blew my mind. Ive been working with glass for 25yrs and I have so much glass this is awesome but what are the elements?
Hi Christine. The elements are silicon carbide, common emery wheel/grinding wheel available at hardware shops. The silicon carbide can be cut with a grinder with a ceramic cutting disk fitted. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want. Thank you for watching 🤗
CMC
Love it! Keep it simple🥳💕
Thanks, and thank you for watching 🤗
Silly question, but what do you use to remove the kiln from the microwave? Tongs, special mitts?
Hi Georgia. I use oven MIT's with the silver coating. Thank you so much for watching!
Super je vais vous suivre merci
Thank you kindly
This is brilliant❤️
Thank you 😊
Hello! Can you melt glass in the microwave to the point you can pour it into a lost wax cast??
Hi Josue. I have never tried pouring the molten glass, but I think it would be possible. Thank you for watching Amigo.🤠
What are the elments made of
Hi Prepper. The elements are made from common grinding stone, silicone carbide. Thanks for watching Amigo 🤠
@@thebeachfishing like the wheel on a grinder?
Pretty cool! Did you make the oven too, or you did buy it..? Thanks for the video! 👏🏽⚡
Thank you Carmen. Yes, they are easy to make. I have a video on how to make a microwave kiln. Thanks for watching!

Where do you get the paper? Like at a ceramic supply shop?
Yes, it's online too. Kiln paper. Thank you for watching 🤗
So could you then carve the glass chunks you made
I'm sure one could, it's just like any glass. Thanks for watching!
Is the box lifted up on something in the microwave or do you just set it on the glass thing that turns in the microwave?
The kiln rests on pieces of kiln brick
What is that black heating elements ? Graphite ?
They are pieces of ordinary grinding disk. I explain in the other video, check it out
How you make the elements? what material is it? Nice video. Keep posting!

Thank you Sun-chaser, I will check x that video,
Posting today 😊
Thank you, I have a big box of colored glass
Why does the glass plate in the microwave not melt?
Because microwaves dont heat glass
microwaves do heat up glass, but they do it WAY more efficiently if the glass is already hot
When the "howw to make the box" video? Thanks...
Hi Mr t. I will upload that video today. Thanks so much for watching!
I have published the video on how to make a microwave kiln. Please post any questions in the comments section. Have a great day!
wish i would have watched this before buying a store kiln kit
Thank you for watching Stephanie :)

It's not ordinary glass though.

Chris Thomas any glass can be melted: I tried regular window (float) glass, beer, wine, champagne bottles, glass marbles, glass necklaces...
Cheap, really... How much does 900 watts at 9 or more minutes cost, a lot me thinks.
0.3 cents in our currency. Acceptable in my eyes. Thanks for watching 🤠
Statistically your TV costs you more, and imagine your fridge.
