Heard this song when I was watching a video about the soldiers and how they suprised there families, and I totally love it. I don't understand a word but it does touch me because I can hear that the song is meaningful ♥
Soothe my wounded heart..this song helps me to seek the endurance of God and maintain my integrity..what else is there when you're told you have advanced stage leukemia and it's terminal?..I dedicate this song of life to all who are struggling with me in trying to understand why we have been granted this gift that is life, and how we can say thank you to Him who has given it..no blame for God..it's Stan we must resist...
The singers name is Palbasha Siddique and shes a bengali girl in USA i beleive.. Shes now the singer in a band called Melange and theres some videos of them on youtube:D YESH HER VOICE IS AMAZING EH:D greetings from Maldives
So damn addicted to this song! Finally, I understand why Rabindra Ji is reckoned as India's one of the best composers. Unfortunately Grammys and Oscars weren't awarded then!
+Meet Kotak Tagore wrote the poem that was used for the lyrics. The music is by Garry Schyman, and it was written and recorded for Matt Harding's Dancing video for 2008. If you look him up here (he has a channel) you can see the charming video it narrates. People all over the world coming together to dance in joy. :)
Thank YOU so much for posting.....there IS sooooo much life on this little planet....and it is NOT always human........ What a wonderful, wonderful piece.....
nice! I speak bengali ^^ I heard this song somewhere else and I was like..."woah...is that bengali?" Havent heard something like this in years! Glad people still care :)
Kinda surprised that the poster did not credit the writer of those amazing lyrics. _Praan_ is a poem by Rabindranath Tagore, one of the national treasures of India. It's from his book _Gitanjali_, which may be the most beautiful book of prayer poetry I've ever read. The pure _ecstasy_ expressed in his hymns just knocks you out. Anyone of any religion should read that book and see just how gorgeously the Divine can be praised.
Excuse me!! When you guys are gonna stop taking credits for everything? Before Independence India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were together comprised of India. He was an Indian by heart. Had he ever mentioned anything like Bangladesh? He died in 1941 before partition and Bangladesh came into existence in 1971. Does it make any sense to you? He was born and died in Indian land only.
Rahul Singh Um, who the fuck are you talking to? I'm not taking credit for anything. I'm only stating who the author is and where the poem comes from. Maybe pull that stick out from your ass long enough to have some idea who you might be talking to?
I did not respond to you. It's pretty obvious from my comment. It is to the one who commented before me. Mind your words. I don't want to indulge in worthless conversation with you. Bugger off! :)
@JohnIson-c5j really? That would be epic. Do you know where in the video? I know that some scenes have so many people, so it may be too challenging to pinpoint yourself.
This Song is A Bengali Song. The Lyrics is Bengali.. This song is written by a INDIAN BENGALI POET, named Rabindra Nath Tagore, for whom we all INDIAN are proud of.....
I don't pay much attention to TV commercials, but the jingle of one this past month (July 2020) kept making my brain itch. I finally realized they'd ripped off Mr. Schyman's "Praan." Someone must have reported it before I could, because I haven't heard that ad in the past week.
the language is bengali...it is adapted from the poet laureate rabindranath tagore's poem "stream of life". Praan means love...this is the most beautiful song
Thank you, Jobaga, for sharing this song and the lyrics in both original and translated versions. How absolutely beautiful to hear this song and see the beauty of the world around us. I also enjoyed all the beautiful faces on Matt's journey. A truly appropo piece of music to go with a beautiful undertaking. Thank you for sharing.
I often enjoy peaceful songs with language I don't understad. And thats one of these good songs. When i listen to them i can shut my self down and think about everything. Good Song (Y)
I`m feeling so lucky because one of my taiwanese friend recommended me to hear this bengali song..it`s an honour for me..Thanks to my friend Justin Yeh
When I taught diversity in my Humanities classes for the college, I always played the Where is Matt video with this song. It celebrates so many beautiful places and cultures! The lyrics spelled out here and the translation I read from another, only makes it more special!
The signer is Palbasha Siddique, a 17 year old Bengali girl who lives in Minnesota. She sang once on a public access radio station and they put it online. Matt's wife found the clip and they contacted her and asked her to sing this. I think she has a big future. Google her name for more info.
Tagore did his own translation, also in lyrics, for his book "Songs Offerings". That is the one in the summary. Here is a somewhat more literal translation: The tune that you play in your thunder is not an easy music Give me the strength so I can wake up to that tune I do not want to be deceived by simplicity any more I want to celebrate the endless life that is concealed by death and destruction Your thunder plays in the strings of my heart The same tune that resonates with the oceans, the earth and the horizons Let it take away the easy comforts and bring me to the depths of being Where tumult only masks an eternal tranquility.
+amin3570 When I was working as a translator, I was often amazed at how many ways there are to translate a given piece when the languages are dissimilar enough. Especially poetry and/or religious writings. One of the most wonderful things about being more than monolingual - the unique "map" that is placed over the world with each language, and the different geography each map details.
well same to me I really dunn understand what she sing and what language is it~ but her voice sound like an angel. So peaceful and harmony. and love it~
Palbasha Siddique does a GREAT job singing the lyrics of Rabindranath Tagore in Bengali! I never knew Bengali is such a beautiful language, though I read translations of Tagore's poems.
This same some is used for the "Dancing Matt" video and there the singer is named as: Palbasha Siddique The Song is based on the poem: Stream of Life from Gitanjali by Rabindranath Tagore All that info is at the very end of "Dancing Matt" in the credits. I love this song btw. It sound gorgeous. Thank you for giving us the lyrics and translation!
