- WELCOME THE NEW BETTER STRONGER PARROT ANAFI V2!
THE NEW BODY STYLE CAME OUT WITH THE ANAFI THERMAL AND IS NOW THE NEW STYLE FOR THE ANAFI AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE ANAFI FPV.
I have to say this unfortunately...,,
I DO NOT recommend or advise you to hold your Anafi or any quads by the feet as I show in the video.
Sadly I have to say this but I think most of you are smarter than the few commenters that actually think we handle our quads this way.
It’s just a comparison and it gives you a very good visual of the difference. Take what you will from it but note I say in the video not to hold it that way. Thanks to all of you that get the point 👍🧡
come one dude.....really??? This guy obviously doesn't handle his drone this way, he is trying to show the difference between the two. Sometimes you have over to exaggerate to make your point. commen sense and the video really helps.
Qc man I am new to your show n didn't know much about the annafi. I have never own a drone yet was thinking of buying a zino 2 or fimi 8 . Which of these three drones do you recommend n cheers for the great info
kacia way Currently my favorite is the Anafi and it’s still to be determined on the Zino 2 vs FIMI X8.
will the anafi v2 battery fit the regular anafi?
gary wilson Yes
The twist in the legs is only a perceived problem until it's shown it affects the flight. I own a p4 pro and the original anafi, I love the anafi for the light weight and ease of transport. Why are you holding a drone by it's feet? I never have felt the need.
Samuel Lawson Do I need to really explain that? 😂 It’s just showing how much flex there is compared to the new that was no accident in designing it differently.
I’m not saying one or the other is a bad or terrible thing. Just showing the difference and liked the new so much I sold mine and got the new in the design sold fpv package.
I have the thermal and regular in this design and it is a better design in my opinion.
I have owned the Anafi for a year, flown it a lot, and I have never had it fall out of the sky and have never held it or any drone the way he is holding the Anafi. So he is right, i never know it was a problem, because I hold all of my drones by the body and not be the legs. It is still my favorite drone to own and fly.
I also own an Anafi for about two years now and I never had a problem wit it, like I did with DJI mavic 2 zoom that I had it for 3 Months and after that I was flight it over the Water the other day and I lost gps and IMU went crazy and then it dropped like a brick on the water and now DJI analysts team could find out why and they don’t want to replace it
This is great Chris! Never notice the difference in body style. Appreciate you pointing that out. Love the anafi!
Thanks for the review QC guy. One of my favorite brand of drone the Anafi Parrot and i will put this new version of my bucket list, i hope Santa will give me for christmas gift. LOL
My name is Tinong Better be a good boy then! 👍
I often think the flex is entirely by design. Things either flex or they break. Eventually, it will break, but it gives it a margin for absorbing an impact before failing. Because the Anafi is so light it has very little mass. I have been flying mine regularly for over a year and had one fairly hard impact. Checked it over and flew it later that day.
My opinion is it is only a result of keeping it light. They changed it and it is a much better built leg with solid ends so they won't separate like many have. It is good in the way of impact but not by design for that purpose in my own opinion. The DJI Mavic Mini is almost as flexible on two legs and very much like the anafi this way but they definitely did it to keep it under 250g.
SO, Why would the drone ever be held in any similar sort of position as to the way your holding the original? Would you hold your Macbook pro by the screen while folded open to test durability? The original version flies amazing and it's weird to hear how many people have issues with the drone in terms of it "falling out of the sky". This drone is made light and that is the main asset to its capabilities. I Imagine the thermal version isn't much different and parrot is probably taking advantage of people who follow pointless reviews, to make almost an exact version and charge double the price based on what "critics" are saying... be careful with your drone especially if it is made light... if you're reckless with your gear and can afford it, get this new thermal version.
Christian Mangos
If anyone thinks I hold my quads that way or that they can hold theirs that way or that I’m remotely suggesting it should be more concerned with how they came to that thought. Before I get 3 minutes into the video I clearly say I don’t advise you doing that.
It’s a simple video simply showing the difference and for everyone who has had the classic separation of the end of the leg see’s that although the flex is good for absorbing impact for minimal damage it’s bad by design in comparison.
The new leg is a better cleaner look, it’s stronger and it’s here so it’s just a simple video showing exactly that.
I love the Anafi in either design but this is my preference so now I sold the old version and got the new version and still have the thermal as well. Thanks
@@QCGUY Well you held it that way twice in the video... so yeah, you held it that way.
Christian Mangos As I said in the video I don’t advise you do that. I can’t help when people like to blow something simple out of proportion and make it something it’s not.
@@QCGUY it was a good video regardless, I am just saying people mistreat their drones and then complain when they malfunction.
Christian Mangos I cant do anything about that. If people take my showing the difference here as how to handle a quad that’s their problem. I can’t fix that problem!
Thanks
I enjoy flying my Anafi over my Mavic 2 zoom. it is a joy to fly.
Having more "flex" in the legs is a GOOD thing, because in a crash, they will FLEX versus break or crack. Do you agree? Additionally, that little bit of extra leg plastic in FRONT of the motor protects the motor in a crash.
MrPlaneTalk I agree but not in the case of this leg style. Owning both I see just how the flex effects the original leg and it separates as a result. This has become very common problem with the ends separating.
It’s a cheap design look in my opinion.
The new design is very well made and thought out. There is still enough protection to the motors and a little flex.
The difference between the two is the original may flex but it is so thin it will crumble!
Flex is good but you still need some strength.
I have contacted them a few times on this topic and they confirm that it was just a weight design in the original and the new design was done as a improvement.
They will not confirm that this will be the only body style available eventually. I say it will 👍
This is true about the regular Anafi too. I just bought a 2nd regular Anafi to replace a broken Anafi and it's different. My old one is about an inch longer, but the old batteries still fit on the new body style.
Do you like it better or the original as far as how it looks and is less flimsy?
It definitely is more stable in my opinion because that flex isn’t a good thing in the original legs.
I am looking at the Anafi for my first drone. It does look like a very nice drone. First time viewer and I just subscribed to get more Anafi content. Tom
Okie-Tom Thank you so much for subscribing 🧡
I don't equate light-weight and flexibility as "flimsy." I'm not a designer or engineer but think its possible (likely?) that it was designed that way intentionally. Both as a weight savings and from a bend/don't break philosophy. I'm pretty careful with my Anafi and enjoy flying it. Anyway, thanks for the video.
Patrick Terhune I wonder why the change then? They are still flexible which I think I pointed out and there was a problem with the ends of the legs separating which was changed in this new style so I’m going with they fixed a issue. Thanks 👍
This is invaluable information! I just crashed mine and broke mine at the leg near the motor. Repaired it with superglue and CF but this looks way stronger! Once I kill mine for good, I'm tempted to get the fpv version!
Brian Kuriyama I Hope that time doesn’t come soon. Thanks
By the way, there's just the legs available here! www.dronenerds.com/products/drones/enterprise-drones/parrot-business/parrot-anafi-thermal-series/parrot-anafi-thermal-arms-motors-antenna-s-pack-pf070771-parrot.html?adpos=1o2&scid=scplpPF070771&sc_intid=PF070771&SC+Shopping+-+General&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_kw=&hsa_tgt=pla-483345784304&hsa_grp=59975653590&hsa_ver=3&hsa_cam=1422673394&hsa_acc=7518285824&hsa_ad=273817915852&hsa_mt=&hsa_src=g&gclid=CjwKCAiAob3vBRAUEiwAIbs5TrsXvuBwPQDYmOveP1RN74NKcMAzEGhPs6MpOoMGu-eaX2L-43Y58xoCAE0QAvD_BwE
I wish I knew this before ordering a body kit from Amazon
@qcguy: Do you know if the body is different from the normal Anafi? Like the leg area on the body is wider/thicker on the thermal? Drone Nerds is selling an Anafi body specifically for the thermal. I would like to know if it's possible to retrofit the thermal legs into the regular Anafi.
Brian Kuriyama Nothing is different with the body at all.
I don't even own a parrot.... I have a Dji spark and platinum pro. But found your video interesting. Good job 👏.
The leg flexing is good.
,mine was slammed into a wall thanks to a high wind gust. No damage, but the arms folded.
The flexing of the arms has not been a factor I need to be worried about.
It does not alter the flight characterists of the craft.
The composite material is quite rugged and durable..
Much ado about nothing.
ERNEST AEC-RADIO You crashed professionally is all! 😂
The legs split easily on yours and many have had to glue them. That can’t happen with this style. Looks and feels better as well. Just my opinion 👍
This is awesome. This was my single reservation about buying the anafi due to the lack of durability but now it looks like they have fixed the issue. Right now the parrot website still has the regular non fpv and non thermal fpv package drone with the old style legs but I will buy the fpv package if I have to just to get the new one.
Hi. Sorry if this has been answered - ive not scrolled through all the comments. If i ever bust my original Anafi legs, will the new v2 fit as a replacement? Anyone managed to test this?
Thanks for help in advance and thanks for great vids 👍🏻
Bryn Jones There is absolutely nothing I see as to why you can’t. Everything else is exactly the same.
Yep Parrot Anafi is definitely a nice Quad.
Unfortunately I lost mine way up in a cluster of tall pines.
Totally my fault .
Replaced it with the Mavic 2 Zoom pretty much the Zoom feature on both Drones is superb .
The Anafi in comparison is so so quiet **
Nice Job and thank you. I have a first gen Anafi and had to put 3d printed Landing Leg Protectors from a company called "Dirty J Designs" to help with the flimsy end caps that break at the end of the legs under the motors. I am glad Parrot is addressing this...good JoB Parrot !
Do you have a link with the announcement of Parrot that states their new body design in all their Anafi models from now on? I unfortunately can not find it myself, also the pictures on parrots website still show the old model, apart from the fpv and thermal version.
I emailed with them and they said future models will have this design but now I think they were talking about new models like the thermal and Anafi FPV.
I have the original anafi and later on received refurbished new body version. I noticed that the older version is quieter than the new one - atleast when comparing my units.
I have had the original, the fpv and thermal and don’t recall anything noticeable in noise. Interesting 🤔
Very professional as always 😀,Thanks.
Great video Chris, they make a great product. Nice catch with the difference and can’t wait to see you stick your fingers in the props 🤣👇🏻
I’m very interested in the Anafi thermal. I have a Mavic Pro and a Phantom 3 pro. I’m looking forward to seeing more Anafi thermal content on your channel. Great comparison! 👍
Icantdrive55 Subscribe and hit the bell so you get notified when I do. I will do more thermal for sure. 👍
I noticed with my Anafi that even when I turn my geofence off...it still shows a 1.2 mile limit.
Is there a flight mode or setting that I'm missing to turn it off?
I switch it off but it still limits altitude...and I would assume range as well since the sliders are lit up green and maxed out.
I responded to you in your other comment about the same thing.
I had my parrot anafi for two days before having my right rear leg literally twist and snap off after it decided to flip over right after launching it. Yes everything was up to date and the quad was fully calibrated. The thing that annoys me most about this is that I absolutely loved the video playback and how crystal clear they were. Which leads me to my other complaint. The white casing around the gimbal cracked as well. I’m not made out of money and I’m hoping that I will be able to repair this as fully as I can.
Pilot error
Sorry for the loss
Any updates on that since then?
Great information Chris, it's nice to see them slowly improving the Anafi, not only by firmware updates, but now hardware tweaks.
I had noticed the new FPV package , looks to have the modified legs also. And the spare parts list for the Anafi FPV show the thermals body kit for its legs. Thanks for the video.
John Lotsu Do you have have the link for that kit? I may grab one and do a video for changing them out. Thanks
QC GUY Try this link, it’s UK website as I’m from the Uk. www.parrot.com/uk/spareparts/drones/anafi-thermal-arm-kit-motor-antenna?ref=1584
I don’t have problem with the flimsy frame it’s not a structural issue I had a couple of hard landings with no damage In my opinion it helps absorb the impact unlike other drones that break easily.
The new design looks good, but why are you so focused on a stress point that is not part of normal flying or landing? Are these legs breaking repeatedly?
Ernie Saldana The stress points are good points to make when so many say I like it but won’t buy it because it’s so delicate which it is.
You can easily grab it wrong while folding, unfolding or just normal handling which people do and the ends of the feet where the antennas are become separated.
Have a slight mishap of a hard landing or a very light crash and the way the V1is designed it can separate and break easily.
V2 is corrected and improved in the structured design of the feet and more durable.
This is the new V2 design and that is what I’m showing so what else would you prefer to hear? Everything else is the same? 😴 💤
Sorry if this review of changes wasn’t something you liked. ✌️
Maybe next time? 🤔
Is this new body style just for the Thermal version or for all Parrots. This video is months old and I have yet to see a regular Parrot on the market with that new leg design.
18andlikeit and the FPV version but when I did this video and emailed them the person said it was the new Anafi body style.
Strange that they keep the old body style still in the original. Old body meaning legs but now that I have the thermal and the FPV I love these legs 🦵 lol
@@QCGUY thanks for the update, but you'd think they would just change all the Parrots to have the new stronger legs and ditch the old weaker ones? Or maybe they still have a bunch of older ones to get rid of first? I don't know but I'd much rather have the new legs on the regular Parrot! Thanks for your reply.
The only time I ever had my ANAFI fall from the sky was from not throwing it high enough into the sky during a hand launch so the motors never correctly fired up an fell in a bunch of sand in which case the motor gaurd's saved my motors I still got some sand in the motors from the bottom but all I did was pop the props off an blow out each motor individually an had it back in the air in ten minutes an currently replacing a front right amateur because I slammed into a telephone pole trying out the new flight modes I recommend testing out the stopping distance in a large open area before throwing it in an obstacle rich environment.
What do I need to do to turn the geo fence off...I'm using an iphone and i switched it off in settings but it still limited me...?
Honestly I don't know.... Maybe it's something new in the firmware? I haven't updated in a long time and can go over 2 miles with no issues if I wanted to break the law that is. lol
@@QCGUY ...just found out that it was fine on my Galaxy...the geofence wont turn off on my iPhone.
@@droneready8278 must be the app version on iOS which is what I use but again no problem.
Try deleting and reinstalling the app on ios. 🤷♂️
Hi, thank you for the comparison. My doubt was never againt the legs, my concern is regarding the flight distance which is much less than the DJI Mavic drones. The new DJI mini is also not in my scope. I would like to have a Parrot Anafi drone with the cool camera function (to look up and zoom) and the distance of a Mavic 2. I would like to fly the drone in the Alps and I assume I need min. a transmission about 2-4 km. What do you think? Is the flight distance also improved now? Ok, also the following mode by trailrunning would also be great. Best regards.
I have been wanting to do test comparisons in high traffic areas but have not been able to do so. I have the latest Anafi FPV so if anything has changed it would be in that one but I'm just going to guess and say maybe not. lol
It's on my bucket list for you. Thanks
@@QCGUY Thank you 😊
On the older version, those motor /leg folding over appears to me to be a limited "break away" designed to save the arms. Have two anafi thermals... seems to be a good design. I'm particularly annoyed with the Freeflight 6 app if anything.
Aron Bechiom I get what your saying and yes that helps in impact but the problem with too much flex like it is now is in their design the ends split and separate in even a light hit and many are glueing them as a result which I don’t recommend but the change to me is so much nicer and very clean looking.
How'd you assume that that standard drone will get the 2£k drone body? Insane.
Insane? lol
It’s a new body style for the thermal and FPV packages so not so “insane” to think they would do it for the basic model.
A person from my group got his basic replaced for some issues he had with it. They sent him this new style. Insane as it is....
Does the new style improve range? Also, Parrot still has the old body style because I had to turn my old Anafi in just recently and got a new one from parrot with old body style still.
Fight The Bully! Range is still the same. Great range on my end.
Parrot made lots of the old-style body in anticipation of big sales. If you had a crash you got sent a whole new drone because they were so over-stocked. My guess is that they are no longer making the earlier version but still have lots of stock so to get the new style body you have to order the newer models, Thermal or FPV. Once the V1 is sold through they may market them, or at least tag them, as Anafi V2.
@@MartinWillett Good points and I hope this is indeed a version that sticks. I like it a lot.
It's the range/connectivity issues that concerns me, not being flimsy. If you live in the boonies you'll get good range, but almost every video I've seen you're lucky to get out 500ft in Urban areas before the picture goes to hell and you lose WiFi. It's the one thing that makes me 2nd guess getting it.
also camera shell is different on the new Anafi with normal camera
Have a ANAFI it fell from the sky. The issue I had was a bad battery. Still like it over my Mavic 2 pro. Way easier and fun to operate.
Fantastic video, keep up the good work.
I bet it wouldn't be hard or expensive to swap out the frame for the new one.
Seattle Basher Agreed
Hi qc guy, you said the v2 not fitting right in the original case, is it just or just no way will it fit ? Cheers
Robert S It will fit but it puts a little more pressure on it. I still use it and it’s been fine.
@@QCGUY thanks qc guy for reply and info , i be intouch again very soon, cheers
Can you install those new legs on old base model? What you think, are they compatible?
Yes, not me but someone already did. I can’t recall which group I saw it in as it’s been a while but he showed pictures of the process. Perfect fit 👍
@@QCGUY Nice. Do you remember, was it with the motors too(from FPV/Thermal) or just the legs?
@@post.scriptum It was the full kit with everything already attached with the legs for Anafi Thermal. QC Guy, Question, I always enjoy and most importantly learn from you and your videos. So I must ask, The FT Aviator, yes or no...is it worth investing in? And #2 what's that sitting on the right of your DJI M2P?
Rick Whitham It’s something hard to recommend at this stage. I am doing well with it and enjoying it but it’s not something that will make you want to not use your controller. It’s different and fun from time to time. Version 2 is what I would recommend waiting for.
Rick Whitham Oh, to the right of my Mavic is the Parrot Bebop 2.
So you are a Parrot guy. I am so glad you showed the difference in detail. I like the FPV Version. I will opt for that one. Thanks for the reply.
Rick Whitham I’m a what fly’s great guy 👍
Do you have the ability to swap the Anafi Thermal arms onto the standard Anafi? I'd like to upgrade my Anafi with the stronger Thermal arms but Parrot says they're not compatible. I don't see how they can be that much different.
Justin Barr I totally think it’s possible but don’t want to call parrot liars. I have measured everything so the only difference would be if hardware wasn’t compatible.
@@QCGUY ah ok. Only think I can think would be different is the hinge mechanism. If you get a wild hair and want to try it, they have a disassembly video on their website. I would love to know if it's possible.
@@STLFromAbove I'm not taking mine apart unless I have to but again I really do not see a problem with it when I compare the two and measure the hinge points. It connects to the same frame and everything is the same thickness and size from what I can tell. I can't say 100% but I would bet on it working.
I think the design behind the gimbal is a bit different too. More protection on v2. Thoughts?
Nothing different there at all unless it's inside. The main body is identical with only the legs being the difference.
@@QCGUY ok from your video @6:48 I thought the structure supporting the gimbal looks a bit beefier and better protected ( covered in plastic) on the Thermal. Maybe it's just the camera angle?
@@jetmartin9501 I'd have to agree with you. @6:43 the prop swings away enough to see that the support arm looks substantially thicker.
@@briandolson2941 Yep it seems pretty clear to me....Is it an optical illusion? I don't think so. Is it because of additional camera connections for the thermal camera require it?...I'm not sure. Hoping Chris will re-check and let us know.
I had an experience with the anafi twice about the motors shut down. First one was wen I put one of the props backguards and the cuad flipped over its back and the motors atopped inmediatelly and the second was wen I was trying to hand launching and by mistake I touched the props and the motors inmediatelly stopped as well
Hi Chris thanks for the update... Quick one. If the legs design is the only thing that changed can you replace the legs with the thermal or fpv version instead of original ones for strength... Parrot does sell the kit??
I am saying yes 100% now after looking into it further and checking everything out.
Getha Pieterse shoot me the link for the new leg kit if you don’t mind. Thanks
Do you have any hubsan zino pro for sale?
Response in your other comment
super. question pls , will the battery and remote be used interchangeably between the two? thx
simon simon I don’t see any changes in the overall platform so they all should play nice together. This is where Parrot was smart 👍
Great, I am interested in the Anafi now..
Am I correct in saying the “extended” version with the 2 batteries is not this new body style, only the fpv and thermal?
So far this is the case yes.
Thanks for confirming. Love your videos by the way. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for this very good video !
Well spotted! I didn't realise there was so much flex in the original parrot anafi? 🤔😯😮😊

Waleed Muniri I bought it like most everything I own.

I have a similar question posted to Parrot, about buying the entire arm set. Poor response..3 weeks, no reply except a form letter.
Not impressed with Parrot any longer.

I would let everybody see my respponse from Parrot..
Has Parrot addressed the flimsy micro sd card holder inside the drone?
rick52 No but I don’t see it as a problem. I have a spare if it is a problem but so far I don’t see that being much of a problem.
Are a lot people having issues with it?
@@QCGUY Where did you get the spare micro sd card holder
Whoa, the Thermal costs $1900 on the Parrott website!
Mike Clark Yes a bit pricey. I was lucky and got it for the price of a regular one thanks to a dealer who I helped out a few times with repairs.
Good Looking Out Thurm Is in the Race COOL
It doesn’t seem to be the body ... the arms seem to be significantly taller.
It’s not the legs under the motors.
I don’t have one. But if the arm section is a C shape, that might do it.
Also if the arms are closed on the bottom, that would do it too.
The arm torsional stiffness has changed significantly.
Parrot had better not changed the body. I really hope the new arms can replace the old arms so people can upgrade/improve theirs. Big mistake if they aren't. No way in this world would I buy the flimsy flexible Anafi V.1 over the newer Anafi FPV.
I do now after looking further into it. I feel 100% that you can.
I have the V1 ANAFI an after a year finally snapped one of the armatures they do make replacements but I would like test you're thought an possibly see if the V2 ANAFI armatures will fit the V1 model being as he said the motors are in the exact same location on the V2 as the V1 an all they did was redesign the armatures an landing feet I believe they would be interchangeable being as they did not redesign the central body of the ANAFI an will post a video on how to if it's possible.
Car techniques 101 I CAN FIX THAT I can fix that

Still not worth $1900 . Parrot must be day dreaming about DJI having all the 💰
duiga When you compare the two with two grand in hand it’s a no brainer. I don’t seem where it makes one bit of sense for it to bee marked up that high.
FYI, I ended up deleting my detailed message on R's channel...I see no reason to contribute to his channel. I'll save my contribs to channels that appreciate and value their subs input. :-)
