Hi from New Zealand, l am indigenis to this country & I have Scottish roots! I am absolutely smitten with this show. It's great to hear that the "Show Is Going On" can't wait to see the 6th Season, surely this is the best series ever in the history of television!,👍👋
I really agree with you. I learn to know Outlander February this year and it's so interesting listen to all this discussion between the actors in the show. 💞😊
@@ann-katrinmartensson5008 I too discovered Outlander Feb 2021. Had no idea how much I would enjoy the characters, storyline, writing, directing, set and costume design, landscapes…just cant get enough of all their talents!
Yes I like he does real well being that the spot light shines brightest on Cat and Sam in the interviews. However Black Jack Randall's character was magnificently portrayer I couldn't imagine anyone else playing it the way he did. those doing interviews seem to be like me and a lot of people we like love stories.
A few years ago I went to London and saw Tobias in a play. I was concerned that I might look at him from my front row seat and only see Jack Randall, but that was not at all the case. Not for an instant did I see Black Jack or Frank. He is just as brilliant on stage as he is on camera.
I'm totally in love with Caitriona. How can anyone be so beautiful, graceful, personable, eloquent, mesmerising, stunning, enchanting? I can sit and listen to her for an eternity and not get bored, I swear.
Looking for something on Netflix, I came across Outlander. And from the first episode, I was mesmerized between the two main characters, Jamie and Claire. I couldn't get enough. Watched all four seasons, in a couple of days. Great series!
Same. And I've binged it repeatedly ever since. Best television ever since Lonesome Dove back in 1980 (I. think it was 1980). If you've never seen it, try and find it. I'll warn you though, it's not easy watching. But the acting is out of this world. Robert Duvall for one.
I just love Tobias Menzies, he's crazy talented and based on interviews he seems incredibly intelligent. Basically I can't get enough of this entire cast...
+quietastronaut I like the leads because they have the bulk of responsibility in carrying the show but Tobias's dual performance was so impressive. Thankfully, he is the complete opposite of 'Black' Jack Randall in real life.
@Necramonium too true. I've seen him in many other roles and he always brings his "A" game. Hopefully with this very popular series he got the exposure to get more roles. What a range of talent! He even sings well (must see "Forget Me Not"). My interest in Outlander really waned when his character was killed at Colloden. Hopefully, he'll get a chance to come back as another of Frank's ancestors (Alex and Mary's child?) I was surprised Sam beat out Tobias for the 007 role. He would have been awesome.
I'm so #TeamJamie but Tobias Menzies is just too stinking adorable in this interview!! This is my first time watching him do an interview. What a cutie!!
I had a serious crush on Tobias Menzies when I saw Forget Me Not. I wrote him a letter discussing his performance and giving my cinematographic insights, and since I had not found an address to send it, I tweeted the letter to him. I wonder what he thought of it, if he even read it.
I personally believe Diana Gabaldon is a genius. I can't imagine not having Outlander now that we have seen it. I mean, she has brought us so much joy with her stories. The characters seem to be real and come to life on the pages, but the show even makes it more exciting, so it's all fantastic!
I recently watched an interview with Diana about the books and her writing style, etc. An audience member told her how much the books meant to her personally and how her writing had touched so many lives and asked her if she had thought about just how many lives she had changed because of her writing. The look on Diana's face was of pure love and humbleness and she got choked up and began to cry. We are truly blessed that she shares her gifts with us.
Tobias Manzies has a beautiful voice. What a great actor, he was so good at impersonating the character of Black Jack Randall that I even forgot he was also Frank!
I love time travel. I so admire the way that Diana introduced Frank and Claire before the time trip. Between her wartime medical experience and Frank's passion for history Claire is as well equipped as anyone could be to survive in the 1740's. The interplay of her knowledge and innate intelligence is fascinating to watch as we wonder what on earth we would do in her shoes in all those complicated and dangerous situations.
I'm blown away by ALL the casts acting even the extras and smaller roles. I'm glad Tobias is getting heard, many hosts overlook him. Incredible talent paying dual and opposite characters🙌
It's nice to look back. Tobias Menzies is a phenomenal actor and in a way does not get the credit he well deserves. Similarly I wonder about the awards for which Sam H and Caitriona B have both been nominated (in their own categories) and Sam H seems to get snubbed (e.g. Golden Globes). I have no background in acting, but I think Sam Heughan's part is incredibly demanding (esp. the battle scenes and the torture) and cannot imagine how demanding this is for an actor in what I think is his first role as a "warrior." Awards are rarely "fair" and it's nice there are millions of fans to recognize all this talent among seemingly great people. .
the torture and rape scenes... he perfectly portrayed the feeling and I'm really amazed if he has never been in a situation like that or abused. How can he play that character and the humiliation he felt so well.. just wow.
The personality of James Frazer is spectacular, and Sam Heughan is totally convincing as a beautiful, sensitive lover, in every way., and the relationship between Jamie and Clare is electric... I have never been so invested in such a series. The Producer Ron Seymour is a genius, and has created a breath taking series.. I don't want it ever to end...How will Sam ever live up to this?
@@elisadicarlo9538 Of course, that goes without saying. The writing has become flesh, and I love love love everything about this series, and all Diane's books. I still dream about Jamie/Sam and am about ready to re watch the whole thing again.
@@elisadicarlo9538 She is. I discovered the show by accident, had never heard of the books. Then I immediately read all 8 of them without stopping. I think that's when I began to wreck my eyes. Not only is Diana a master story teller, there are paragraphs and pages of exquisite writing. Her imagery is stunning. I'm now listening to the audio versions as I work desperately to organize my home. The narrator is wonderful, but listening doesn't reach the sublime level of some of Diana's prose and dialogue, and I've been a professional reader for movie studios and a literary agent for more than 40 years.
I can't get enough of Outlander.Jamie and Claire's relationship is so mesmerising. I have watched all the episodes 6 times.cant wait for the rest of Outlander
This was the first interview that I watched of Outlander back in 2017 since then I have fallen in love with the show and everything about It. I'm crazy about the series, books, and the cast. Sam and Cait are the best and their chemistry is unbelievable. Thanks, Diana Gabaldon for writing those amazing books. saw the same thing happen in another interview, where a lady was about to ask a question and then Sam focused his gaze on her and she completely froze and then said that she was unprepared for the eye contact. LOL can totally relate.
I read all of the outlander books when they first came out. When they announced they were making a series, I though to myself “they will never find anyone to do Jamie and Claire justice”. Boy was I WRONG! I love the series and all of the actors are awesome!!!
Hi!!!! I just finished watching season 1… did the series stayed true to the books??? I’m debating whether or not read the books before continuing the next season…
Tobias is such a Talented actor. Playing two different Character's with two completely different personalities/Personaes (Good/Evil)&(Frank/Jack)is quite a difficult thing to do. Tobias does it so flawlessly, incredibly raw and real. I'm so impressed with the amount of talent this man has. By far one of my favourite actors on Outlander just based on that!
Love so much Outlander TV series . All actors are excellent especially Sam and Catriona. Just a perfect couple portraying a role model marriage of love , gentleness , faithfulness and equality.
Wow! I was in Scotland in 2014 participating in the Commonwealth games and had a great time. I've watched all 5 series and thourally enjoyed it...loved both the main characters they were awesome and their chemistry was out of this world
I genuinely love this cast. I just started watching the Outlander series at the recommendation of a student, and especially after hearing the gorgeous opening theme song. But I've continued watching especially because of this cast. They really are fantastic, particularly the main three. Tobias said here about the difference in his two characters being "in the eyes", and he's spot-on with that. I've only just begun Season 2 of the series, but there is so much expression and feeling conveyed in his eyes in every scene he does, to the extent that I can feel so much pain and sadness for poor Frank (the scenes where he thought he lost Claire are heart-wrenching), and even with Jack. While I grimace and think to myself how much I hate the character whenever he's on-screen, I still see the humanity expressed through his eyes, the way Tobias portrays him. (Of course Sam and Caitriona are WONDERFUL as well, and all the supporting actors!) Just a huge kudos to the Outlander cast and crew for giving me a whole new world to explore even while stuck at home in the midst of a pandemic. It's such a joy!
I loved this "interview" with the whole cast with Ron and Diana. They seem to get along really well and it seems that they've had a great time with it. I can see why Caitriona has had a good time...Tobias and Sam! Either way, I would love to just witness the taping of one episode, just to see the live interactions between all these people. Oh, Sam and his modesty patch!!! LOL!
I agree that he's just as charming and handsome. That's why I devoted my main comment just to HIM and I hope he sees it. I love all the characters in this series. Very impressed with the sets and every detail as well.
I've read all of the books way before it became a popular series and let me tell you, they nailed it with Sam playing Jamie - he resembles the character and brings all the nuances of that man to life.. excellent job. The fact that they actually hired a Scotsman!
I think Sam had to leave Scotland to let his Scottishness emerge! I think it quietly lived in him while he was away, but once he came home to work, it awoke a great sense of pride, and what he felt was true to his whole being, he loved everything Scottish!!
I'm obsessed with this cast! So profesional yet very serious acting, especially Sam and Cait whose personalities are total opposite from Jamie's and Claire, they are giggling the whole time, they are extroverts, with sharp and funny comments, plus they're extremely cute! The interviewer was akward but all the cast made it work nicely and on point 💖👏 keeping the audience thirsty for more 😍
The questions seem like the usual baiting but I'm very pleased at how the responses are fascinatingly insightful. I may be a swooning fan of the mythical romantic characters but am also seriously curious about processes, issues and discussions the actors, producers, writers & crew have. Outlander is so richly layered because of all the talent it employs. Thank you.
Farquhar Smith yes, he is so talented but I must correct you as his name is spelled Tobias. lol he is easily the most talented actor on the show. the are all so good it is a joy to watch.
This is my first time seeing Tobias in an interview (yes, I was late to the Outlander party). He’s adorable...I have a new crush on him also. I mean, Sam, still, but Tobias is absolutely adorable.
Same here. I loved his portrayal of Frank and was initially obsessed with Black Jack Randal, not until the rape scene. I just couldn't love a bad guy haha but Tobias is an awesome actor
My sister would tell me she was watching Outlander over and over and I would ask her , how can you watch the same show over and over? Aha then I finally started to watch it and now I am completely hooked. I can’t get enough of this show. Love Love Love everything about it 👍🏼❤️
@@eierinjhoi yes, frank I loved and I really felt so bad for him for what he had to go through but I hated Randall from the beginning LOL. I just love the actor even more after watching this interview. He’s such a humble person and his smile is just adorable.
Oh my goodness, Diana Gaboldon's honesty about Sam's 'arse' made be laugh so much!!! But poor Sam hahaha. Great people and phenomenal at what they do. Enjoyed this discussion so much!
Yeah, I think after so many people keep getting stuck on his looks instead of him being asked serious questions he seems to say "f**k it, I won't even bother waiting for real questions" 😂😂
I started watching the Outlander series about 3 weeks ago - up to season 3 episode 11so far. I must admit, it is one of the most fascinating & captivating shows I've seen in a very long time. So exciting to listen to these super talented actors share their stories & experiences playing the characters they play on this interview.
I think I'm coming in way too late for the comments. But yes. O boy what a wonderful cast, intelligent producers and full marks do Dianna on bringing out the bad Englishmen and the troubles Scots had to go through. But I've fallen in love with everyone the whole cast. Hats off. But I guess I'm lucky to get introduced to Outlander at a later started when you can sit and watch several episodes at home at the same time. But this is a great team.
I find it strange how in Scottish the word "gaelic" is pronounced as "gallic", whereas in Ireland we pronounce it as "gaylic". I absolutely adore this show and cannot wait for season 3!
Tobias, you are such a great actor. You can go from nice guy to bad guy with ease and without you in the show our emotions wouldn't have been all over the ballpark like they were when you were in those scenes! What a great idea to have you as the husband and his ancestor. Brilliant move. You are the guy we love to hate and love to love. Bravo!! I wonder if we will see a day that Jamie meets the husband face to face to see that he's an identical to his nemesis!! (And what this must have put Claire through on either end of time!!)
Got into Outlander when I bought a smarttv which has access to Netflix (Seasons 1-4 available). Had seen PR about show and that people were really into it. Do not read romantic historical fiction generally. Have not read the books. Watched right from episode 1 and liked it. Liked that it was from woman's perspective, an independent woman, a smart woman. Liked the lead roles and actors. Most admire Tobias Menzies. Like Frank. Astonished by his Randall. Have watched seasons 1 through 3. Overall very impressed and enjoy the show.
Yeah, I laughed my butt off when I saw those. Most of the interviews I've seen him in with the rest of the Outlander cast he acts almost shy and very reserved. Those socks just said volumes for his hilarious wit.
I remember waaaay back when the actors were announced for the much anticipated series. ''THAT'S NOT WHAT JAMIE LOOKS LIKE!!!'' from the fans of the books, outraged ... and then the series started, and the women were like, ''hmmm, okay then...'' and loved him.
I can’t describe the joy you gave me!!! I was watching ( all 5 season ) with delight the growing love between 2 people. The hysterical background was masterfully interpreted. The producer, director and the acting group kept me locked in a seat, with my eyes on the screen and my heart and soul was at and in the story!!! I cried and smiled “ with all of you “ ! When I finished watching season 5, I got the books and I finished them all. I am looking forward ( hopefully) to see the other books on the screen. Congrats!!! to all of you. Now I will go and watch it again.
Great I love Outlander I am from Scotland originally and I know the area well where it was filmed. It is great to hear the cast talk so fondly of Scotland. Thank you all for such a great show. I am a huge fan. I now live in Australia and I am currently watching the current session. Keep up the amazing work.

Love this series! From the settings and costumes, to the story line. It is violent but also tells a powerful love story. I'm on series 3 and can't wait to see the whole series. This is from an American who has Scottish roots. Well done!

I am still watching in 2018 and love everything about them..
Tobias for the Emmy!!!
I just discovered outlander this year and wow I have become consumed with it. I love this story so much!
Just in love with Outlander's world. An AMAZING story👏🏻👏🏻🔥🔥
LOL!
Just now binge watching this show...
For the 3rd time!
Love this interview and love the show!
Me too. I have also bingewatched Outlander. Maybe 5-6 times....lol...
Tobias, your socks are inspiring!
Best interview for Outlander, thank you for keeping it available so fun to watch.👍🏼👏🏼
Everyone talks about how hot Sam is but I'm blown away by Tobias. Handsome, charming and so so talented
You forgot to mention his sexy voice wow...
He is so bloody charming and funny! He smiles like a little boy. Tobias is the best actor on the show by far.
Someone for everyone I guess. 😁
I agree that he's just as charming and handsome. That's why I devoted my main comment just to HIM and I hope he sees it. I love all the characters in this series. Very impressed with the sets and every detail as well.
I just cannot like him based on his horrible Black Jack character. He was too convincing, which I guess makes him a great actor, but yikes
I think it quietly lived in him while he was away, but once he came home to work, it awoke a great sense of pride, and what he felt was true to his whole being, he loved everything Scottish!!
i love every single one of them
Still one of my all-time favorite panel interviews.
Just binge watched the whole 5 seasons and and now downloaded the first book onto my kindle!
I love that they actually talk to the audience and not the interviewer.
I'm obsessed with this cast! So profesional yet very serious acting, especially Sam and Cait whose personalities are total opposite from Jamie's and Claire, they are giggling the whole time, they are extroverts, with sharp and funny comments, plus they're extremely cute! The interviewer was akward but all the cast made it work nicely and on point 💖👏 keeping the audience thirsty for more 😍
Agreed...hated the interviewer
The questions seem like the usual baiting but I'm very pleased at how the responses are fascinatingly insightful. I may be a swooning fan of the mythical romantic characters but am also seriously curious about processes, issues and discussions the actors, producers, writers & crew have. Outlander is so richly layered because of all the talent it employs. Thank you.
Tabius, the guy who plays Jack and Frank is a magnificient actor!
Farquhar Smith Did you see him in the series ROME as Brutus?
Tim Goldstein funnily enough Ive just started watching that on Amazon.
Farquhar Smith yes, he is so talented but I must correct you as his name is spelled Tobias. lol he is easily the most talented actor on the show. the are all so good it is a joy to watch.
+Farquhar Smith His name is spelled Tobias.
+Farquhar Smith Yes, he is. I think it would be hard enough playing one character! I think this cast is awesome!
I like Ronald D. Moore saying about how its very hard to find Claire it means Ms. Balfe is really an outstanding actress!

Imagine that had been a male author saying that to an actress, it would be a bit much. I don't think people would have laughed as much.
I started watching the Outlander series about 3 weeks ago - up to season 3 episode 11so far. I must admit, it is one of the most fascinating & captivating shows I've seen in a very long time. So exciting to listen to these super talented actors share their stories & experiences playing the characters they play on this interview.
We have just completed series five, we watched it back to back absolutely fantastic.
I saw all 5 seasons in 5 and half days, barely slept and when finished, I started all over again, it's fantastic! 🥰🥰🥰
EnJoyed it so much that I've started it over until the next season is available. God bless them all. 😁💋🙏🙏
I have read the first book. I’m all most finished with the second book. The books are great. Zo glad my family got them for me for Christmas.
Excellent acting and photography and characters. My all time fav... waiting for Season 3!
I just realized you have an englishman, a scotsman, and an irish woman all on one stage!!!! :D
I liked this interview more than others, everybody seems much more relaxed and they were actually funny
SAM IS THE CUTEST HUMAN IN THIS WORLD, PROTECT HIM ALWAYS
Thanks for following me and watching my movies, I appreciate all you love and supports. Keep it up. love you. ❤️
Tobias and his whimsical socks = the ultimate bromance XD
Yeah, I laughed my butt off when I saw those. Most of the interviews I've seen him in with the rest of the Outlander cast he acts almost shy and very reserved. Those socks just said volumes for his hilarious wit.
Very soxy :)))))
Thanks for following me and watching my movies, I appreciate all you love and supports. Keep it up. love you. ❤️
wow, what a great intelligent cast
Loved the series....this interview has been viewed by me several times daily...never get old. Thank you truly.
Yes Clair is the heart of the show ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Tobias is so cute! Like. He's just so adorable.
Fr
Cait's reaction to Diana's comment about Sam is killing me hahahaa
Diana, is out of line with the comment 😮😮😮😮
Love this series. Wonderful acting. It draws you in that you are right there with them..
Quel que soit le moment, en temps que modèle ou bien au naturel, elle reste toujours classe, avec son port de tête de danseuse, son regard doux, son humour et sa voix chaude 💙
Caitriona is also incredible. Great cast
4:46-4:58. describes me. I had never read Outlander until I saw the show, and now, while the show is exceptional, I adore the book more than the show.
Madly LOVE Outlander, the books, the show, must say Tobias was stellar as Brutus in Rome!!!
Also worth interviewing would be Lotte Verbeek, the Dutch actress who plays Geillis Duncan. She fooled me completely with her Scottish burr...
I am Scottish and I can’t wait to see all of the shows I love Jamie and Claire
Love this series! From the settings and costumes, to the story line. It is violent but also tells a powerful love story. I'm on series 3 and can't wait to see the whole series. This is from an American who has Scottish roots. Well done!
Great cast! Acting was top-notch!
They are all adorable!
Three Wonderful Actors
Love this!! Read the books about 20 years ago and kept them all. Will read them again, but i am enjoying this show immensely!! Can't wait for season 2.
Nice to hear these stories over and over as well.
Tobias's socks are just fire. ))) A gentleman with devils in his soul.
I've enjoyed that interview! Great actors and a fantastic chemistry among them!!!
love the Show, the characters and now the actors
