Great video man, I found a cap gun a few years ago that I likely buried myself when I in the single digit ages in the yard I grew up on. I don't know what it was about burying things in the early 70's but, I remember doing it. In the mid 70's I remember burying my favorite cat wrapped in my cub scout uniform. That was a combination of not wanting to be in cub scouts anymore and honoring my favorite cat in my young mind back then.
That aluminum oblong tag is, to the best of my knowledge, from the early 1940's from the base exchange, or PX, from what was the predecessor of the current United States ARMY military base at Ft. Stewart, Georgia. Prior to being renamed Ft. Stewart, the base was named Camp Stewart. Military camps were most often temporary places that existed in a kind of economic and legal limbo. Whereas the United States government purchased the land as a result of ramping up to train millions of men to fight in WWII, the vast majority of those places never became full-time official military installations, and thus were named camps, as opposed to forts. After WWII ended, most camps were decommissioned and abandoned, usually with minimal to no caretaker presence. Those properties that were once training camps for soldiers, airmen, and sailors remained in United States government hands, sometimes for multiple, before some Congress got around to deciding what to do with them.
I always love the videos y’all put out. Aside from the awesome finds, I get to see the landscapes that I left behind when I moved to AZ (I’m originally from the Carolinas).
I used to have one of those miniature cap guns. I got mine in probably 1963 or '64. I don't remember how or where I got it but I remember it didn't fire off caps worth a darn. It was way too weak a snap but you could cock it and pull the trigger. It was too little for a trigger guard. This one was special-cool for me. Y'all had a great day. The car, ring, the silver, the relics, the keys (I always like keys.) made an awesome day. Thanks for sharing it!
Wow! Nice hunt guy's. John, is your Buckle an old boy/ cub scout buckle? Hope you guy's get the other house permission, will be interesting to see. Thanks guy's ❤
I just started watching your channel, and wanted to ask what is the name of the red shovel, that I saw on this video. It’s awesome. I metal detect with a minelab X Terra pro, and been detecting for 6 months and still have not found gold, just one silver ring, bling rings, and clad coins
John, if you have not communicated with the original winner by now it ain't happening. There are plenty of loyal fans that would scoop it up in a day. Maybe you can have a live event and pick from the pool who are watching? Just a thought. Do what you know is best :) SB
Gwozzie! Was Mike's belly, on screen, pornography? Only time will tell. Stay tuned, digging folks, same station same time? Good job. Keep these great videos coming ,fellas!
