David Lucas was born in Macon, GA. He started acting an early age, performing in numerous stage plays at the Macon Little Theatre. He relocated to Hollywood where he was a contestant on, “MTV Yo Momma”. He has since written for several television shows and continues to perform stand up all over the country (for such comedians as Louis CK, Erik Griffin, Joe Rogan, Brendan Schaub, Tony Hinchcliffe, Bert Kreisher, DL Hughley and many more) He is a regular on Kill Tony. What a giant difference in this interview versus Hans. Respectful, well thought out, hard working and a good attitude. Overall this guy is going to go way farther in his Career. Just the fact that He made David laugh and Hans didn’t .
I thought it was funny how Hans was mad, saying he takes comedy seriously. Yet Ric planned what to wear, wrote jokes to roast, jokes to showcase his style, what to say if he won, if he lost. He even wrote jokes for guests who might or not be there! At some point, Hans has to look at himself and wonder why Tony made him fight to keep his spot and why people felt comfortable enough to challenge him and not any other regular.
Totally agree, the energy in this interview is way better.
He also made sure to mention that he’s heard Ric has been bombing like Hans hasn’t been bombing on Kill Tony for weeks.
Seriously Hans's felt so serious and awkward. "I been doing this 10 years hes been doingg it 4 he bombs all the time" Hans you bomb every kill tony and you still use the same 3 year old jokes in your fucking sets when youre doing a regular show. fuck outta here. you played your part.

He works for an institution that is just taking land from farmers, we've had a dozen of suicides under farmers here the last cuople of years, because of people like Ric Dies 'just doing their job' within the EU. Bro this interview is immediately so compelling. The fact that Ric is so well spoken, intelligent, and has such a compelling background- and I’m only 3 minutes in… he’s actually put things on the line and sacrificed and done tough things like leaving his family for 11 years to be in Asia (maybe for job or by choice but still) and being in such a difficult, competitive job, speaking 3 languages, able to do standup in all, juggling all these things… meanwhile Hans’ background is played up drama about being homeless in a van when he really had a Caltech degree and a 16k van or whatever it was… not that that’s terrible, but damn the narrative was played up. And his interview was almost unwatchable. Hans’ arena minute was utterly unfunny. Put some respect on my boy Ric’s name. Thanks for having him on. Don’t hate Hans but things b odd

For Tony to turn against Hans because of some 1min comedy match and destroy what has been years in the making of relationships and memories, well that's just simply not going to happen. And we saw exactly that, not sure how anybody would expect anything less, maybe if they think Tony is just as bad of a human as he is when he's joking about how bad people's 1min's are on stage; but that's for jokes...
I think Ric knew this as well, and Ric isn't going to go away, his career is just getting started now too! It's not like he won't be welcome into this space anymore.
If Tony had actually replaced Hans with Ric, it would not just damage his relationship with Hans, I think it'd have damaged the entire brand.

Ric is better than Hans. Hans knew he was going to win by audience applause and it’s disappointing he didn’t prepare a real minute. After months of anticipation. It damages the show to have regulars consistently underperform. If Hans prepared for that minute he lost his funny. Cam did the same minute for first time in KT regular history. And a roast king should be expected to venture outside gay jokes and race jokes. Tony’s just gotta keep his regulars high and tight.

David is definitely the best so far that I've seen that have come up from this show.

@@Barbarossa_F That’s what happens when you lose wars to neighboring nations repetitiously . You learn their language. Take for example the UK and Canada . Both have been under French and English rule and as a result half of their population now know both languages. Now take the United States for example that’s never fallen to foreign conquest and you can see why English is still the sole language while places like Mexico , Cuba and French Canada have an influence but nothing so substantial as European countries.

The Europeans speak our own native tongue, English and usually one other language (French,Spanish,German) that we learn in highschool, it has almost nothing to do with history of war, this is only a recent development, in the last 60 years or so, (some places later) that this has been added to the education system..
The anglosphere (U.S, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Canada) are the nations that basically only speaks one language.
The rest of the world speaks their native language and English because English has become "the universal language" largely due to British colonialism around the world and mass exportation of American culture over the last 80 years or so..
Canada was created by French colonizers, but the British got more and more control over entire north America, including Canada and English became more widely spread there as their settlements spread, but the French held onto their individual identity and language, which is why Canada has french parts and English parts.
The U.S.A (before it was the U.S.A) slowly became just one weird mush of everything and the Europeans who came there added their own flavour to the soup, but everybody adopted the English language, due to the country being mainly British colonies in the beginning and every faction of life (commerce to governance) was built around the English language..
Europeans are very nationalistic by nature, war never changed any of our countries that much that we took on other Europeans language.. Simply not the case.

Ric's point about not going so heavy on the personal Hans roasts in his minute and promoting his own comedic style due to the high amount of people watching that new years special makes a ton of sense. Sucks that it would've helped to win that show.
He did win, it was clear. Hans "jokes" sucked as always.

Was funnier the second time i watched it, but really a lack luster set for what it was no matter how you slice it - first time i watched it i felt wicked uncomfortable, could see matt and shane’s discomfort too - were you also really grossed out by how Hans handled winning? Second time didnt seem as bad for that either but still, Hans did not command respect losing control of his emotions like that… such a sore winner… really bummed out he acted like a rich kid shouting down ric.
I’m not his biggest fan, but to say Hans is not funny or a good comedian because of this NYE situation is wild.

Very relatable, smart and hard working guy.. as a non native english speaker interested in comedy I have to say I now look up to him a lot. He did what many thought not possible and set foot in the American market! Incredible. Im rooting for him, hes great.

Wow, what a wonderfully respectful and more well rounded response than what we got yesterday.
I couldn’t even get a few minutes into Hans’ interview. His whole vibe was crappy.
BTW, I saw both Hans and David headline the Improv in San Jose,CA. No offense to Hans, but his show was way weaker than David’s. David’s entire roster murdered! Hans’ lineup was pretty weak, one of his openers was good, and his first joke when he (Hans) went up bombed pretty hard. I found the biggest props form Hans for that show was that he was able recover and end strongly.
Looking forward to hearing more of Rick’s sets, and hopefully Hans can continue to grow.
Oh yeah, David is by far, way more naturally talented towards this craft. And he can bounce off and just work with crowd.
Some really good comics will get really thrown off by crowd or hecklers.

While I do agree with you, I think Hans was unfairly put through a lot of stress by Tony auctioning off his job every week to open mikers. He even threatened to pit him against Casey Rocket which I think no one in KT would stand a chance against. Hans had some weak weeks for sure but I think he is way better than William Montgomery who reads off an index card every week, rushes through his jokes, relies on lazy topical humor which often end with same punchline about Redbrands mom or the something twins but Tony never seems to care. Meanwhile, William is left wondering why he eats it on the road sometimes and Hans doesn't. Hans is a much stronger comedian but Tony makes him or used to make him fight for is job every week.

I think Hans started getting low energy and looking bitter and angry ever since he stopped doing coke and got with his latest girlfriend some months ago. Everywhere I was looking people were saying Fuck Hans Kim, and every single person I talked to thought Ric won.

Happy to see Ric getting attention he deserves ! Proud to say that the first time I went on stage was right after him (and he killed it even if it was just an openmic). Beyond being very funny, he is really really smart. As a rookie he gave my so many "game changer" advices. I have no doubt this is only the beginning for him, he has everything to blow up ! Based on the internet feedback, Ric won, and I can confirm it based on the quality of his strategic approach. He certainly elevated the show with his strategic approach , which is characteristic of professionals. He put himself in front of the toughest comedy crowd, as main event on the night, in an arena, in a different country,On his third language; Not his second his THIRD.
