"I don't care what you believe, I believe" - Stilgar
Lisan al-Gaib!
The most epic phrase. The conviction in flesh.
That gave me chills
Powerful words, yet.. dangerous
Faith
The beauty and horror of being swept up in a religious fervor. Magnificent
*faith
I didn't see any horror anywhere
@ Oh poor sweet summer child... so blind and lost like all religious people. Don't worry silly one, all will be revealed in time, haha!
@ then you do not understand Stilgar's character.
@and I don’t see the beauty
Having a homie like Stilgar would be a treasure
100%
Consider, that perhaps we should be more like Stilgar.
@@WormThatWalks228 Maybe the real golden path is to be like Stilgar
@@DuBstep115 For real
Stilgar - The best hype man in thr whole universe...
Javier, from greatest hit man to greatest hype man lol.
My favorite character in the movie: a friend, a comic relief, a spiritual guide, a fanatic warrior. Javier Bardem really killed it.
A fool who was fooled with a prepared prophecy. A religious fanatic like the ones there are today and who surely don't seem so good to you.

The man that says “Stop there” to Stilgar is the final Atredies soldier Feyd fights in the arena.
wow nice catch. I wish we new more about him
He's in Duncan's first scene too. He calls him Lannvile or something similar. The guy was also the fight choreographer for the films
@@emor6100 Yeah, Lieutenant Lanville... in Duncan's first scene, the meeting with Stilgar, and the one telling Leto they have to shut the blinders because it's getting too hot out.
Roger Yuan is his real name.
Nice Catch!!! hey!
Fun fact - he is also the fight coordinator on both films; Roger Yuan
Stilgar is the biggest Lisan al-Gaib fangirl and I love it

I love Bardem's expressions in Dune, it's crazy how many emotions he was able to convey with his eyes only.
I know Stilgar is a symbol of blind faith, which is wrong on its own. But to be honest, we all need a Stilgar in our lives. One who believes in you until the end, one who will even join you to death. That kind of friend is really a treasure.
@@Rymaja Faith is not wrong, everyone has faith on someone or something. You can have faith in your friends when you trust them. Everyone does it.
However, Blind faith is dangerous. It's following someone or something with no questions asked. You abandon reason and neglect intellectual discussions. It's reckless and destructive.
well its wrong because Frank Herbert wrote Dune to warn people about blindly following leaders + figures at the expense of free will and logic.
dont blindly follow something or someone. its foolish
@@louislemsic Is it blind faith though? Honestly Paul is doing some amazing things and all in accordance with the created prophecy. As long as it goes as planned I do not consider it blind. Him reacting funny shouting Lisan al-Gaib as fast as possible is of course for sure him trying to sell the believe and faith to others while of course also more and more convincing himself, but again - is it blind? He freed his world from the Harkonnen with one strike, crushed their strongest foe the emperor and his Saudaukar, survived some stupid poison and excelled at anything else that came his way; anybody who does not believe at this point is not made for that kind of loyalty. Let's say things go south, like his vision promised and billions will die - as long as their main goal gets achieved its again not blind. Hardchief and death is not just expected - it is even given freely for the Lisan al-Gaib. For a non believer and person outside of their reality, of course - it looks blind, but in their world I would say you must be stupid not to believe in Paul. You could say Gurney is also "blindly" following Paul - out of loyalty and honor. He does not care about that prophecy in any meaningful way, but he would murder for that kid in a heartbeat, die for him without a question. Its just not faith, maybe honor, maybe his servitude to House Atreides but loyalty nontheless.
@@joelquinn5347 Very well put. Many people (even those who have read the books) criticize Paul's choices and judge his actions based on their skewed sense of morality. People must understand the importance of realizing the golden path, no matter how brutal it seems, if it is the only path.
@@joelquinn5347 I get your point. That's a good thing you've raised.
Maybe that's the real question, what is the fine line between blind faith and loyalty? Because you can believe AND have doubts, that is consider healthy and even wise. Scientists are encouraged to be skeptics even with new discoveries. It's with skepticism that incentives searching more knowledge. But Stilgar, even with warnings and critics (see 3:36 of the video) refuses to engage in intellectual talk. Gurney is another topic (everyone also need a Gurney friend lol), since he's fueled with remorse and vengeance, more than believing Paul, he wants to avenge his fallen House.
These are good points but we will have to see how it goes 😉 because the author purposely used these themes to convey a message. And that's why Dune is such a great story!
Its crazy how every single actor fits so damn fckin good. In every movie or tv series u can easly point actor that doesnt fit the role or simply annoys you. I cant do that in dune... Every single character fits and was played perfectly.
100%
It just FITS, MAN
I agree on all except zendaya to be honest.
"its the perfect time to cross blades with me, i am an easy kill"
That was so emotional I've literally watched it few times in a row. This movie is a masterpiece and I can't wait for it to be available online. Bravo
It did. That's why this video has HD footages.
I literally cried......
It is available online now in HD
Where is it available?
@@DatTran where can we find it
Javier nailed this role perfectly
Every time Javier is on screen he steals the scene. What a great actor.
"Only the Lisan al-Gaib would say he's not the Lisan al-Gaib" - Stilgar
He deserves a best supporting actor nomination
You have distilled perfectly Stilgar's character and faith in this. Thank you for creating something so emotional.
"I will lead you to paradise" - Paul, Just look at Stilgar, that moment gave me goosebumps in the theatre. Such a beautifully crafted masterpiece.
3 books later - Paul: "Dune's green man...there is even rain, and worms stay away from wet areas. This sucks ass. Let's go back to old Dune and old Fremen life. Also my son has a worm-god complex."
Stilgar's smile at 3:10 is his faith being finally fulfilled. Thank you for your performance Javier Bardem and thank you Ovik for creating this beautiful edit.
Javier Bardem did with Stilgar what Viggo Mortensen did with Aragorn. Now it's impossible for me to imagine someone else playing (BEING) this character in the future. Good luck to whoever tries to do that.
I heard Part 3 will complete Paul’s arc as written in Dune Messiah. I haven’t read the book. I hope Stilgar in it.
3:25 Ohh, that's a very good sync 👌
So damn smooth!
1000% very nice indeed
This is easily my favorite dune part 2 edit I have seen so far
I Truly Hope he win an Oscar for this Role❤
Loved stilgar in dune part 2, he added great humor to the film also liked how much he believed in paul
Beautiful edit. Stilgar is such a great character. Lisan al Gaib !
Lisan al Gaib!!!!
One of the best edits of Dune I've ever seen. Especially this song always makes me shudder every time I watch it and I don't know how many times I've watched it over and over.
Me too, this edit really shows Stilgar's character. Javier's portrayal was sublime.
Imagine an entire culture raised and teached for centuries of the Messiah. And you, yes you are luky or blessed to be around when he arrives, even teach him and becoming a friend.
Seeing a prohecy becoming true with your own eyes is a shock. - said by the fremen women in first one
Deserves an Oscar nomination he stole every scene he was in
that's the damn problem with this movie, nearly everyone deserves one lmao
@@buhdeuce2131 almost everyone. In an almost perfect movie I'd say Zendaya was the only small flaw I saw. she's a one dimensional actor
@@whatsursource you think? I kinda agree about the one dimensional actor thing but she still did an amazing job as chani. Typically, these 'marvel actors', such as zendaya never blend into their role properly but I think she did an amazing job with her role. Can't complain to be honest
I really love him, his accent his style his action, Stillgarrr ❤❤
The character Stilgar played by Javier Bardem was by far my favorite character in this movie. You don’t have to be religious to admire the passion conviction, and belief that Stilgar exemplifies of exactly what it means to commit to something bigger than yourself. He was undoubtedly willing to die for the Lisan Al Gaib. Although religious fervor can lead to very dangerous outcomes it’s the attitude Stilgar expressed brilliantly about what it means to stand for something that you care about so deeply that drives you to put everything on the line including your life in order to fulfill it. I think we all deep down have an inner Stilgar that wants to believe in something deeply as he does. This movie was an absolute masterpiece.
Love book Stilgar, and love movie Stilgar.
Dune is warning about Faith. But, it also showcases how powerful it can be as a force of revolutionary change.
This goes SO HARD.
Javier Bardem was brilliant as Stilgar. His arc of fanaticism is one of the highlights of Part 2.
Javier Bardem is such a good actor i always look forward to all his movies
2:55 "i don't care what you believe i believe"
Just finished reading the first book, I must say, the movie actually made him even more of an incredible character. My favorite for sure.
Bardem perfectly captures the Arab / Islamic disciple feel of a person such as Stilgar. I'm not a Muslim myself but I've been around people like Stilgar, and I'm blown away that the writers of Dune managed to capture the spirit of a man like that. It really is very authentic.
You are wrong about one thing bhatti, Arabs/Islamic civs are not a page in human history, we are the human history, with all due respect to enemies and allies alike.
@@prsimoibn2710 Islam is the youngest of the world religions my guy. If anything its the Africans or the Chinese.
Honestly one of the best films I've ever seen..
oh man, that transition at 03:26 while Paul was saying Lisan al Gaib and Stilgar was actually in the shot. Masterpiece.
In the two weeks since I watched the dune movies for the first time I've honest to God become obsessed with dune, and it ain't even funny.
I watched this video back to back 3 times now and I've got goes bumps on my skin and tears in the corner of my eyes, I don't even konw how a movie edit can make me feel this strongly.
read the books. they're so worth it
@@whatsursource I got through the first book in 4 days 😅
@@emilschneider467 It's so good. I'm on God Emperor rn and it's just the best ride I've had reading a book
The greatest hypeman
That shot of stilgar at the end, eyes wild and proclaiming his faith while boarding the transport ship is haunting. Very rare to see such a well done portrayal of religious fanaticism
He is a tragic character, and Javier Bardem portrays his fundamentalist fanaticism masterfully. It's a powerful depiction of how colonization can twist us into becoming tools for others' purposes.
In a horrific way, Paul IS the voice from the outer world. Paul IS making all of the prophecies come true.
Stilgar's faith is not unfounded nor unjustified in Paul. Time and time again, Paul has shown that he IS the Messiah they've been waiting for.
Is it better to live in waiting, under the boot of a cruel house and an impartial emperor, or is it better to seize hope and fight for a future you've waited centuries for, a future you now have an opportunity to make a present?
What's the difference between a true prophecy and a real prophecy when the result is the same.
The means however are horrific,in order to bring about the Green Paradise the Fremen will have to kill an untold number of people and bring about unimaginable misery.
@@24YOA Can you not do that without the fantasticism that leads you to commit genocide on a thousand worlds?
@@24YOA His faith is based on a lie. Paul does not liberate them. He becomes an all-seeing totalitarian tyrant, and they, his tools. Exchanging one for another.
@@abhinavdangwal6180 Was the former Empire any different when it assumed control of the galaxy during the Butlerian Jihad?
Dune is a closed cycle. Where house Corrino assumed control of the galaxy following the Butlerian Jihad, House Atredies assumes control of the galaxy during Muad'Dib's Jihad. It was the great houses choice to fight against Paul rather than to submit to their new emperor, a fight they would badly lose. They were given the option to submit, they refused - instead, they had to be forced to submit to their knew emperor. They chose their fate.
As written.
I like how Stilgar teaches Paul the "Ways of the Desert" and also how he values Paul's courage. Like a second father figure, along with Gurnie Halek (Josh Brolin's character), who was one of Paul's teachers-trainers. Such difficult journey for all of them🤔😔.
This character has to be one of the best characters in the last decades. If there was ever a remake or something , it will be hard to replace him.
this movie... its breathtaking.. in so many ways..
I love this character so much. He is so honest with himself and the world around him. Let him believe what he wants!
phenomenal
He carries these movies so damn hard
Javier nailed it for Supporting Actor. I kinda get the feeling that he actually enjoyed filming this one.
he should win the best supportive actor for sure.
He nailed the role. Incredible.
As Norm Macdonald once said about faith, you have to choose it. And I believe faith triumphs over reason. Best edit so far.
Beautiful...
Bardem's ability to portray zealotry is surely something.
everyone needs a man like Stilgar on their team
Beautiful.
The absolute OG
I wish I had his commitment, man. He puts his whole life at stake trying to achieve his dreams. Stilgar is doing everything for his faith without hesitation. I know, sounds like a thing that terrorists do too, but I didn't mean it that way.
Wow. I’m actually at a lost for words, one of the if not the best movie edits of ALL time, not just Dune imo.
Absolutely fantastic the music went so well with this Stilgar edit man. Congratulations 👍👍👍
Lucky i have a couple Stilgars in my life! Blessed
your edit is the reason for the 6th time I rewatch DUNE
I read dune in junior high because I had to in 1983, So happy to see these inspired compilations!!
Amazing edit
I love how JB and TC portrayed their relationship in this, just beautifully done. Such a tragic sort of surrogate father-son relationship, full of regret and manipulation on Paul's part.
Stilgar is just like Morpheus, driven by his beliefs.
"I'm pointing the way!" coming from someone who refused to take power and sacrifice others lightly, holds so much strength. The fundamentalist had no chance to withstand the charisma of Paul, not their laws mattered nor their lives the moment they started to believe in him. Any other person would be arrogant, power hungry or whatnot, but if it is finally embraced by a rightful character that all turns to strength in leadership.
Please Ocrar for Javier Bardem
Хавьер играл шедеврально, как он вжился в роль фанатика. Оскар за роль второго плана
What a wonderfully crafted edit dedicated to Stilgar.
You captured his very essence, the mannerisms and ideological personality within a matter of 3 minutes.
Thank you so much for sharing it with the rest of us. All the best.
Wow this is fantastic
So good. Chillls
Beautiful edit, thank you!
Heshiigiishii.... sends chills well done video 0:36
So good
javier did so well. The happiness on Stilgars face hearing of a green paradise is purity
A pity we no longer have such men in our society!
When people are so desperate that they NEED something to believe in, to believe that there would be better future, you want to believe so much that you refuse to accept an obvious fact that all of it is fabricated, watching Stilgar's desperation and hope in this savior is just so fucking sad i cried softly every time he's on screen.
This is amazing : you captured Stilgar’s soul so perfectly. Thank you for this beautiful edit 🤍
