NASA (Boeing 747 N747NA SOFIA). Landing in Tahiti (NTAA). 07/19/2021

Welcome to the special guest of the day, the #NASA Boeing 747 #N747NA named #SOFIA for Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy.
This beauty came to Tahiti because of the COVID-19. Normally it operates from New Zealand for the observation campaign over the Pacific ocean but, since the sanitary crisis, New Zealand is closed to foreigners and NASA decided to conduct their mission from Tahiti.
SOFIA was possible thanks to the participation of the DLR (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt), the German equivalent to NASA!
Filmed using a BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k (BMPCC4k) with a Sigma Lens.
Graded on BlackMagic Davinci Resolve.

Hello Thierry, oui c'était la première fois qu'il se posait à Tahiti ! Il devait rester jusqu'en septembre mais l'explosion de cas de variant delta en Polynésie a écourté leur mission. J'étais très content quand même de pouvoir le voir ici!

Thanks a lot Mike!! Yeah a very rare catch in Tahiti !! We don't know if we will see it again as the crew told that it's too expensive to conduct the mission in Tahiti and also because there's too much humidity in the air here and the telescope don't like that... At least I managed to film it a few time!

@@BrunoLevionnois ce SP est bien équipé de reverse. Quand il était en Allemagne ce printemps on a vu des vidéos ou le on voit que elles fonctionnent.
