As I said, this drill is not strong enough for drilling steel at full swing. But for wood at max swing I would keep bit size to about 1 inch. Shorten the swing and be able to use bigger diameter bits. The drill is only rated for 5/8 inch max. on the web site. Has a 1/2 HP motor. Speeds are: 550, 880, 1520, 2490 and 3470 rpm Single V belt.

So you need the low speed for large die holes? Gotta like the radial feature but what about under the hood? speeds and belts....
