@taylorwade1858 when you use it extended all the way to the front, does it leverage and bend the columm or the assembly when drilling through a hard metal? This drill looks quite substantial and heavily built, wouldn't expect it to flex even at it's outermost 45" extended position.
I had a 600 lbs columm drill from the same manufacturer and it was amazing, but the "throat" (drill chuck) was only about 10 inches away from the columm, so I couldn't drill very large flat parts which I needed more than once, specially with furniture making. With that 7' or so high drill I could comfortably drill a 9" wide piece taller than me if fixed it to the ground level base.

Interesting review, my company AutoDrill makes automated drilling equipment and Multiple Spindle heads for drill presses and we actually sell this model as a turn key solution for customers who don't already have a drill press. I find the swivel head option to be very valuable in a variety of situations. One is when you're drilling and tapping and don't want to remove your piece from a fixture on the press, you can simply swivel the head out of the way for easy vertical access to work on your part. It helps cut down on production time if you don't have to move/remove/reset a piece repeatedly. Another nice thing about this is if you need to spin something much longer/taller, for example if you're using the press to spin/polish a long steel rod, you can swivel the head off to the side for additional clearance (and in this case without having to loosen the bolts in back and raise the entire head, or if you need more total clearance than the adjustment allows). I do wish this model had the typical hand lever type adjustments that don't require using 2 wrenches for loosening and tightening the height adjustments. The price you got was excellent though, well worth it. Hard to find that industrious a single phase drill press for anywhere near that. Oh as an aside, part of the benefit of this drill press is that it allows you to drill holes deep into very large pieces... so the hole in the center of that 40" lazy susan you've been thinking of making... no problem here but try it on your standard drill press, no way to get 20" into a piece to drill, but here no problem. :) Nice functional bench/stand.

Very welcome, We actually sell some Grizzly turn key options for Multiple Spindle head set-ups, but that's really just a convenience for customers looking to use a traditional drill press for multiple hole set-ups. Our primary focus is automated drills and custom or adjustable multiple spindle heads for manufacturers who need to boost productivity beyond the levels that drill presses typically offer. We make some pretty neat, simple, robust stuff for people who need to boost production efficiency.

That thing looks awesome. I would build a table you could raise and lower as well. Old car bottle jack would be easy lifting mechanism for the thanks

radial drill presses are more for workstations so you can swing it out of way when not in use

The drill press is making the most of the compromises. I would make an oversized table to mount on the base. I would aim for a 4" height. An oversize base would greatly improve my options on what I could do with the machine. I recently made an adapter for my Smart car so that I could mount my spare trailer tire should I have a flat. I found myself needing a 20" drill press for drilling the second set of holes to my cast iron adapter when mounted to the trailer wheel. I drilled the 1/2" diameter holes with a hand drill. Even with only increasing the hole size by 1/16" at a time this was a very ugly experience. This drill press would be fantastic. I will check out Craigs List, but I do not expect to have your luck.

Thanks for making this review Taylor. That's a very nice cabinet stand you made for the drill press.
A quick question could you measure the diameter of the short column that the drill head mounts on?

could you cut off the 2nd column the drill press sits on to make it reach the table..??

the motor might be in the way some I see.. so u couldn't take too much off..

have you considered making a two stage base table for the tool to sit on.. one section 6 inches higher than the back section, and doing away with the provided steel base, all together..
