Being the most difficult faction to use but also the most dangerous faction to fight against in skilled hands definitely makes interesting games.
Hey Sybert, great videos! Just wanted to let you know that GLA players go for dozers so they can place down power plants. Having power grants GLA players massive bonuses to production times, letting them pump out units extremely quickly. Rumor says a GLA with power can produce some vehicles before the doors on an arms dealer have time to close!
Also, you might want to watch the radars a bit more during your commentaries. Sometimes I spot engagements going on down there while you're scrolling around looking for the action. Just keep an eye out for moving blobs and click on them to move the camera there.

I dont think the power plants effect the efficiency of producing units it only depends on the type of unit your producing especially the combat cycle. I played ZH for years and i never experience any changes in vehicle production when playing as the GLA with power but who knows i might be wrong or i overlooked it
yeah I've never really noticed a production time boost either,...I've played so much zero hour I'm embarrassed to say how much. production time boosts might exists in mods and definitely in the tib universe but not so much in zero hour with gla. USA?China production slows down a little on low power but its less than with tib and red alert universes.
The real reason I can see for GLA players to steal a dozer is that GLA is usually one of the last factions most people learn to play,.....Anyone that is good at playing GLA at least has a strong knowledge of the other factions,....
Each faction has its own strengths,....GLAs prime strength is that its tough and can handle damage well,....if a good GLA player can steal a dozer stay alive without using it,....they might get the strength needed to successfully to start to produce and then mix the factions to exploit the units that their opponent was supposed to have a monopoly on,.....
USA and China to some extent rely on their tech and unit quality to cope with smaller numbers of more expensive units, more expensive dozers and lack of cash bounty,....
Quick example,.....When playing GLA I like having a humvee with a scout drone and a wad of commanches,....avengers,....
with USA I want several workers,....several tunnel networks and a couple scud storms,....maybe even some camo rebels,....
China can get nasty when they get rangers and humvees or and avengers or camo rebels maybe a couple scout drones....usa command center has that awesome satellite too.
@@keithturkjr.8676 Watch the previous Zero Hour match Sybert cast (BoYcaH vs SiZe). At 2:10, the same timing as in this video, a hijacker goes for a dozer, successfully grabs it, and produces only a few power plants and a barracks. A barracks doesn't use power, so why is a good player like BoYcaH passing up USA tech and command centers for basic infantry and seemingly useless power? He didn't build any USA base defenses, and there wasn't any war factory, so it wasn't like he was going for laser crusaders. He essentially only wanted the power and kept the barracks as a bonus. EDIT: Correction; BoYcaH drops only one power plant at first. It's only after SiZe snipes it that BoYcaH steals another dozer and builds LOADS more power plants, which SiZe responds to with immediate use of airstrikes. ua-cam.com/video/6ilTDH8Mt70/v-deo.html

That was insane, both players played out of their minds. My heart skipped so many beats in the last 10 minutes, this can't be good for me.
The buildings with orange outlines are half price fakes (that could be upgraded to a real one). The Arms Dealer that was forced to be sold by Black Lotus wasn't 2000 to make because it was fake
It's really cool watching how much these players value their units and how they use them strategically.
Loved both these players, both played to their factions strengths. Actually cheered when the hijackers ate it on the mines, cause no matter who won it'd be deserved. More Generals games Sybert!

GJ casting Sybert! I haven't played or seen ZH for so long. Such a throwback. I thought China was dominating the whole time yet, this battle lasted so long some how. This is so different that when I used to play. I played ZH back before I played SC2 & learned how to play competitively & aggressively. ZH matches were 15 y/o me & a buddy spamming custom matches "10 MIN NO RUSH", then having a big old tank battle or cheesing with 4 airfields full of aurora bombers and spy satellites killing their economies.
Yep, that was me as well. Except during the summers as a kid I didn't know how to play online so I played a ton vs the computer and would do super gimmicky builds as well.

I never played this game but u can see what a good game this was. Literally came down to the last guy..those battle busses that ran into death for no reason made a huge difference
Two people being close to win/lose doesn't necessarily mean it's a good game.

Wonderful cast as always, have you considered casting some mod replays like Shockwave and Contra? Contra is very competitive and interesting. The contra discord holds tournaments and had one just recently I think, might be some good games in there.

Since tanks are rather weak in ZH it is very interesting to see the strategies that players use.
That was make ZH incredible, as in RA3, the problem with RA1 is that you can only spam tanks, and win, the most tanks you can spam in less time, the easiest you win

@@BGVassil game development back then was a process of years of work though that's wy it's quite likely the multiplayer was indeed An afterthought as EA Saw how much of a hit the starcraft multiplayer was and thus told the developer to also put in multiplayer at the last minute.

Are you using GenTool when you cast? I don't see timers at the top corner as they would appear when DoMiNaToR casts games.
GenTool has some QoL things, the latest 7.9 version added in-game player rank, xp, and money displays for example.

Also, I don't see mbts have much use in this game, so I take it picking tank general is just for the armor veterancy bonus?
gatling tanks and quads have the higher dakka than battlemasters/scorpions (not that stealth general has access to scorpions), and can dish out the damage faster. unless the battlemasters can get the autoloaders and have enough of them for the horde bonus, but are too susceptible to infantry
@@ChenAnPin i think westwood over did the strength of infantry in this title which leads to mbts of all factions being useless (except upgraded battlemaster). the core armor units became rocket humvees, gatling tanks and quads because they can shred infantry quickly
Mbt's are main meta for tank vs any gla. Also in early/mid game gla mirrors except stealth obviously, stealth can have a pretty hard time versus a toxin general spamming scorpions.

There is not enough money counter on the screen. Not enough display experience and level of upgrades. There is not enough icon of the general that is used by this or that player.
It's a game from 2003.

Battle vs quads, gatling vs infantry, win? Or am i missing something?
battlemasters are too slow. Unfortunately they are very rarely used in high skill games. Because it's easy to outmaneuver them. Same goes to Crusaders.
Nuke bm's are more common though

Though, still disappointed he didn't grab the reinforcement pad right at his base, pretty sure the free tanks, on top of the all the army he built, would have been very helpful.
@@SilverFox5645 it'd take awhile to get the full potential of BMs, since you need enough of them in numbers and upgrades like autoloaders to do the damage, and even then their still weak to AT infantry unlike gatlings that can mow stuff down faster.
@@ChenAnPin IDK if nothing else they can act as meat shields or some sort of defense since GLA players like to go for the backstab. Even if they all die to the rocket troopers and quads, if you can eliminate enough of them and stall, it can ensure you win the base trade. I would think that's the case anyway.
@@SilverFox5645 Indeed. Battlemasters can still be useful in a defensive role, specially at a cost of $0. But you'd be surprised to know that China players will sometimes refrain from capturing pads in contested areas just to deny the veterancy the bm's would feed.
Can someone explain please the strategy behind selling your command center? Do you rebuild it eventually?
Sometimes you rebuild in the mid to late game. Selling it gives you a cash boost early on.

not sure playing tank general and investing into air power when it cost more is a smart idea
the Helixes provide a mobile speaker tower and faster QRF with the firepower the rocket soldiers can provide, but its a heavy investment
But air is best answer to "battle bus problem": mobile enough to chase and deadly enough to kill.
