Mike Shinoda of the band Linkin Park joins HuffPost Live along with his wife Anna to dish on their latest projects. The duo will discuss the new Linkin Park album, the band's current tour and Anna's novel "Learning Not to Drown."

I love how humble Mike is. And he and his wife are a cute couple. Thankfully they have each other to lean on during this difficult time. 😢
So they've been together pretty much ever since Linkin Park was formed. Unbelievable. Huge props.
Mike is so laid back, talented and cool. I feel so heartbroken for him. He must feel like he just hit a wall with Chester gone. I'm praying for LP it's like the Layne thing all over again with Alice In Chains. R.I.P Chester.... the thing that really sucks is now you'll never do another interview again without having to talk about it. Gonna be hard 💔
I hope that the band recognizes the loyalty of their fans and going on is the best way to honor Chester.

Wayne Dent LP is never going to be the same again...and that's a fact we all gotta accept! They will be back, m sure...They'll probably do a tribute tour or a tribute album...But it is not going to be the same without the man whose voice made LP what it is. Chester and Mike combo was LP's identity....A part of that identity is gone forever... I feel so heartbroken for Mike as well...!

I just watched this for the first time. Read the book. It is written for any age and any human. A great look at the hardships of life and family and how to change what you can so you are able to forgive and move on. Regarding Mike's comment on the music changing and the letting go of some of the fan base was an answer to a question I've had for a long time. I noticed that my now grown children, nephews and nieces introduced me to their first few CD's. I liked them but didn't buy any of their music. As time went by, I started liking the band more than my children. I loved Mike and Chester's writing. I could totally relate to it. The music did change and seemed more rock to me than earlier CD's. I am so sorry for the loss of Chester. I am still mourning this loss myself. Knowing what Chester went through, I can totally see now why I related so much. RIP Chester. There is no more pain, struggles or sadness for you, Chester, for you are now with God. Love to you all! Great interview!
Linkin Park seems like a positive force. It makes it all the harder to accept Chester's death as a suicide.

yeesh, I don't want to be too hard on the guy because he probably has a lot on his plate, *but this interviewer could really work on being a bit more respectful* to both of these artists. So many of these questions just come across as plain uncomfortable, and the interruption at the middle was... yeah
He had to interrupt them because they were live and he had to keep things moving along to fit the time frame

I hate their outlook on they're old music admittedly I've always like the nu-metal sound better but that's because I like rock better than pop but I'm always be gonna be an LP fan and they're new music really doesn't get the credit they deserve for it tho.

So none of the other band members ever wrote a lyric in Linkin Park. It's either Mike or Chester. I don't think that's true.
For One More Light, Brad did a lot of writing- but that was after this interview.
For the other albums, usually Mike and Chester would write together or bring in stuff they wrote alone. Then, they would show it to the other guys, who will comment on how it sounds and say what they like or dislike... very rarely would they actually give lines.
Mike/Chester wrote the songs and then shows the rest of the band on their input/notes but also like what Ariel said Brad did some writing in their last album, Mike/Brad produced their music, Rob/Dave would come up with the drums/bass, Mike/Joe came up with the art ideas for their albums covers, Joe directed majority of their music videos, Mike came up with the set designs/production on how they want the stages to be on tours, he also did the band merchandise and created their web design. But before they made any final decisions on anything, they always discussed it with each other first.

If you mean when Mike said the band waited before having Chester join the group, it wasn't to "discredit" him. Someone can be a great singer, but you always want to make sure he/she is the right fit personality-wise for the band.
