Did you know: Toriyama originally planned for Cui to be the main character of Dragon Ball. He even planned a whole Manga and Anime series featuring Cui as the main character. Unfortunately, he replaced Cui with some fool named Goku because he thought he would be more recognizable. Silly Toriyama, how wrong he was. Fortunately, Phoenix Mirror restored all of his original plans, and they were so much better than was officially came out.

Fun fact: Cui was originally going to be a playable character in Budokai 1, and there are even unused audio samples on the disc that include the World Tournament announcer saying Cui's name. However, Cui was cut from the game during development to make room for Great Saiyaman instead. If I'm not mistaken, Dr. Gero was also intended to be playable. Sadly, Guldo, Burter, Juice, and King Cold were likely never planned, despite all of these characters having all models in the story mode. Not sure about Frieza's 2nd and 3rd forms either.
