I agree, especially with geldings . I haven’t noticed it as much with mares. These horses remind me of a rattlesnake that never rattles. They’re great until they’re not. I have one too. He was pet broke. (There’s such a thing as too much desensitization I think.) I appreciate your understanding of this because I was teased and doubted and even judged for not trusting him. Fortunately for me I I know a trainer like you who knew better. We’ve got him going just fine so far. He’s 6 now. AQHA big red roan. Dam was Appendix. Nicest built horse I’ve ever owned and I think he’s a good soul. We’re getting along fine so far but I never underestimate the consistency of work he must have. It’s groundwork he must always have just like you said. ❤
This gelding might be sort of easy going.... Being started by the owner seems to have been good while no stress has been applied. Demanding forward movement when aboard may be when he reacts.....Ground work seems good....very ho- hum. If he continues so good under saddle with you aboard, he is truly a special horse.
This is the type of horse that scares me the most. Every horse has a limit of that they can take, and he is not showing me his limit. It is very common for horses that are what I call "petted broke", act like this, then when I get on, they break in two. That may not be the case for this one but I will do extra ground work before I get on just in case.
I’ve been on him in saddle quite a bit. The saddle won’t phase him. He’s been lunged in a saddle since a yearling. Just needs the work put in. I miss having an arena! :(
@ShayBabs-ws6ht Not having an arena can limit what you can do...looking forward to seeing this nice gelding mature under saddle. If his good nature sticks thru all the steps, he is special!!
Do you have a video teaching a horse how to lead with respect? Your a amazing teacher, I understand everything your saying and explaining, I wish you were closer to new zealand, I need to learn so I can teach my horse
Buddy is a young teenager that would rather play his video games. When his nuerons finally connect and start firing he is going to be a different guy. He will want a name change and it will be Diablo lol
@@timandersonhorsetraining O thank you! I’ll be watching for it. Thanx for putting these videos out. I know it’s more work for you, but you are helping so many horse people. ❤️❤️❤️
Why use a lunge line, when you have plenty of rope? Shows to me that this is someone who doesn't know how to lunge with a rope. And lunging through the bit? Asking a horse to "go forward" while you're pulling on the bit is a contradiction.....horse is confused.....and lunge lines all over the place. That "spook" was a natural reaction to suddenly facing the light on the ground.....a horse's sight can take some time to get used to the difference from dark to light on the ground.
STILL LEARNING GREAT WORDS OF WISDOM HERE
Great videos thank you so much for sharing!!!
Nice boy!
You are such an amazing trainer/teacher. I love how you explain what you are doing and why you are doing it. Thank you!!
❤️❤️❤️
Such good information in all your videos Tim.

He’s a golden retriever in horse form

Buddy was named Buddy because he’s been a sweetheart since day one. I had so many other fierce names picked out for him lol
Great video. Looks like he’s improving. I think he’s just a little lazy. How are the Percherons coming along?
They are doing good. I will have another video of them out soon.

The lines are snapped into the sides of the halter. They are not attached to the bridle / bit.
