if only his buffs werent turn limited. Then atleast he could be decent in gepard team
If his ult lasted 2-3 Turns as long as he has soulsync. He'd be pretty pog. A high risk high reward character... That's my opinion since I built him for funsies, I don't regret it.
Yanqing is trash (professional Yanqing runner)
Crit buffs are good, but you’re getting in trouble if that’s what all you have. On top of better relics and more sets with crit bonuses, supports nowdays already gives you hundreds of crit damage, and any crit rate buffs will be useless for him. He would immensely be more useful if he has res pen/defense ignore/ or even just better multipler and lower ult cost. His restriction of not being hit is fine, you can even sometimes do more damage with Huohuo even with that, but a decent portion of his damage is from an RNG follow up attack that we can’t even control.

One thing I wish more companies did was do the FGO style of character upgrades (not reworks just upgrades). I think there are some laws about changing a kit after release (one excuse I keep hearing) but if they are always an upgrade I don't think it would be an issue. I know Arknights should be in the same boat but they still have modules.
He has a few things that would make him modern. If his ult buff converted extra crit over 100% (maybe not the 1:2 ration but 1:1-1.5) and/or if it had 3 stacks (20% each) and each stack lasted a turn (with his E6 refreshing a charge).
Give his follow up increased chance on a crit, so up to 100% at skill 10 at least.
Skill gives him a shield based on his attack.
They can easily fix this problem by either making a character which reverses the effect
Like when he gets hit he gets soulsync active, wow
Or either make a premium character only lightcone which is only usable by selected character and give them new ways to use their kit .
They can give these premium lightcones as a MOC full clearance rewards or either make a separate banner for these premium lightcones
Well, I got him early + Gepard. So ... he was helpful pre-Daniel/JL.
Only reason I build him was coz I got Gepard, if not, I wouldn't have touch him at all.
He was fun to use from 1.4 to 1.6 just to make MoC harder. Daniel and JL took the fun out of MoC.
Sadly, with 2.0 He became too weak, had to use back my E0S0 JL and E0S0 Daniel.
The day where I play Wind Dan Heng/Hook/Yanqing is over. (They are not my waifu, so its fine).
Only my waifu Sushang, hope I can use for many years to come!

and now im only building him for apocalyptic shadow for argenti so i can use boothill on cocolia (my other limited 5* are blade ratio huohuo luocha aventurine so i quite literally do not have a choice)
The Game8 wiki lists the new Wind-Soaring Valorous as his BiS 4pc, provided you can get enough Crit Rate and Atk you should be fine. If you're somehow running debuffs Pioneer Diver might be better
It's interesting how many units were released as "Relic Fixers" early on. Honestly that's kind of a category in and of itself for units, how do they do when you don't have good relics?
That was Yukong for me. I had abysmal crit stats, but Yukong let me cheat through to gold relics with qingque. Turns out a walking 25% crit rate (assuming Ult level 6) is a pretty nice damage boost when you walk around with 40% crit rate cause of 3/4* relics being your best. Ruan Mei and Robin certainly can't fix consistency issues like that, they do good at making you do far better when you are already at an average relic point.
Yanqing falls in that. Good if you need help cause of relics, but falls off when you have the time/resources/units to spend on units that scale.
And here comes the Apocalyptic Shadow :) ...

When we see the new Hunt characters getting more gimmicky to stay relevant, while the Destruction and new Erudition make far better generalists, we can point to Yanquing as exactly why.

Arlan still is, unfortunately. Prerelease Arlan would still be top tier, but they nerfed him unto uselessness
