Keep in mind, Tiburons are super picky about the parts. Even the sensors. Our cars do not like pretty much anything after market. Also, try swapping the injector around to see if the misfires follow. If they do then replace and reset the codes before completing the drive cycle.
If I had to guess what happened to this car, I'd say it was owned by someone who was cheap or poor, and decided to go with the "extended oil change interval". Probably gummed up the engine doing that and started shaving bearings. Your previous owner noticed a "ticking noise" and decided to "rebuild" the engine by running multiple oil flushes or maybe even slapping on some fresh heads and incorrect O2 sensors, but when that didn't get rid of the noise he decided to cut his losses and sold it as "rebuilt engine, runs great, just needs new paint", right after sabotaging the gauge cluster to hide the true degree of sadness. Or the CEL might have been sabotaged by an earlier owner because it was always on and annoying... If what you've got really is just super worn bearings, what you could do is to replace the oil the system with something stupid thick like 5W-50 racing oil to see if that quiets the engine down. Near me, I can get -50 oils by Mobil 1 ("Rally Formula"), Comma ("X-Flow" traditional oil) and Motul ("Sport 5W-50"). It's still hoopajooped and you will very likely spin a bearing at some point soon, but it would be a fun experiment. :)
I agree with this running a thicker oil could help since the tolerances of the motor have loosened. Also it might be good to consider doing an engine flush like liqui moly basically doing two oil changes putting the flush in the old oil and then changing the oil twice you’ll be surprised what can come out! And then throw some Mobil 1 15w50, valvoline vr1 50wt, or Motul
This is why you should fit an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on your engine. If it's reading low, it's probably doing so due to excessive crank bearing clearances or a weak oil pump. That said, between the stripey walls of the cylinders, the knocking noise, the low oil pressure and the metal, this engine's done.
I agree, many signs of the engine being done. But the gray sludge takes the cake 😂. I do really want an oil pressure gauge, just curiosity at this point.
ticking may related to a valve located under throttle body, this is EVAP valve should be attached in rubber ring, sometimes it drops from this ring, and ticking. OR if your oil pump dead than hydraulic compressors under oil starve and tiking
Pull a rod cap and main cap. You were seeing bearing material. You might be able to clean up the journals in the car old school and slap in new bearings.
Reference your fast car slow question, I own a Corvette and Camaro SS. Each has a big engine and big power. While they are fun to drive, I prefer driving my 1974 and 1968 VW Beetles. They are very slow compared to the sport and muscle car. I don't even drive the fast cars anymore. I daily drove the Vette for over 1.5 decades. Maybe I'm just used to it and you'd feel differently having driven slow cars all your life and switching to fast ones? Having taken all of them to different car shows, the Beetles are more fun, way cooler and the crowds the Beetles draw compared to the fast cars suggest others feel the same.
That is interesting! I just never gravitated towards fast cars for some reason. The fastest car I've ever owned had about 350hp and even that was too much for me. I find that I don't really enjoy going fast, but I enjoy quick accelerating cars. The rush you get from the acceleration is what got me hooked to turbo charged cars in the first place. I tried driving fast on the highway (100mph+) but it just felt wrong to me. Maybe I'll feel differently if it was on a race track.
I just want the Saab back 😢
Saab will be back! Just not right now haha
Ya got your wish 🤞 😏
@ I know, I’ve been following! Happy for you!
0:01 sounds like my 964 cold start 😅. Cheer up man, you are not alone !
Thank you brother!!!!!

never thought about the EVAP valve, I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

At this point a new set of bearings would run him a significant fraction of the price of a working engine from a junkyard.
Is there anyone who makes performance short blocks for the tiburon? Since your heads looked good you can get them machined onto it.
The tiburons aftermarket support isn't the strongest. Honestly not sure why. The more I get to know about this, the better it gets.
The lack of rust on the underbody is making me really envious. My lower radiator mounts are orange as helllll. don't let this beauty rust pls!
I wont!!! There are some small rust spots on the wheel well. I've removed the rust and put on some rust prevention. Planning to get it fixed soon.
@@BWTECH0521 what products are you planning to use?
@@surplusplanet5481 nothing too crazy, just fiberglass reinforced filler, primer, paint, etc.
@@BWTECH0521 awesome! Can't wait to see every step of the journey!
hey man take it to professionals that can check the metal shaving and oil pressure problem
Swap the engine is goin to save u some money or rebuild it

Maybe theres a problem with a camshaft or connecting rod
