I don’t understand weight loss. It’s as if the body holds onto weight somehow. I’ve stopped going on the scales (sad step) as it’s affecting my motivation. Keep going Lucy. I’m off on a long run tomorrow. Gonna try for 10k minimum. Still looking at some 10k events but I need to build my confidence. Thanks for your content. It helps motivate me 😊
Happy anniversary! I'm on a weight loss journey myself and I log my weight daily and it's all over the place! It certainly can be discouraging but it's totally normal. You've done such a great job with the weight you have already lost, and you are much healthier for it and that is what really matters. I get stressed out over demo work and the mess and noise in the house during renovations BUT it has always been worth it when the work is completed. Take a deep breath and enjoy the process and it will be worth the hassle. Have a great weekend!!
Dont be discouraged! I realized, that when I train a LOT (like new kind of training or just a lot of training), my body tends to cling to the weight. Followed by a week or 2 of less "stressful" training (lack of better words), weight goes down. I also have the impression, that if i eat very clean for a long time, weight loss gets less. Eat a little bit more normal for a few days, it gets easier again. (just cannot eat tooo tooo normal bc apparently I am an addict in regards to sugar...give me a little and im hooked again) I think its because our bodies just are survival specialists!
@@lucyshawvlogs no, thank YOU for your encouragement. every week. You are a one-woman-show of encouragement, while being vulnerable on the internet and showing that you can go forward having consistant awesome results while normalizing bad days (they are normal, but its not normal to show them on camera on running vlogs, at least not female ones) while living like a single mom often without being a rich youtuber with loads of money and/or nannies WHILE WORKING!!!!
I’m super impressed as I’ve been running for the same number of years as you and I’ve never been able to crack a sub 30 5k lol. You’re amazing and a joy to “hang out” with on UA-cam 🤗
You scale frustrations are why I tend to weigh myself everyday and then only pay attention to the weekly average that Apple health calculates. If the weekly average goes down or stays the same, then I’m good even if day to day goes up and down. I feel like it’s more accurate than weighing once a week.
You are so honest! Love it. Can so relate. Funny how we can’t perform when we want to (regarding PB). You would probably have got it if you hadn’t gone out to do it! As to weight loss - so many variables ! Especially as women. I like to think of lifestyle choices now. Still have a couple of kilo to lose but I’m grateful it’s not more, as if it wasn’t for learned good habits , it could be a lot more. 😊💕 Cake looked yummy. I’m a from scratch person too , that way I have to work at having baking in house. Theory being that I have to be desperate to make it. Unfortunately that doesn’t work with a house full of kids!🤣. They get desperate before I do🤦♀️🤣
Awww 🎉 Happy belated 8yr Anni!! Brace yourself for the coming weeks with strangers invading your personal space (for the good of your house). Keep thinking of what will come of it and hopefully that helps. It can be really overwhelming! Random tip against getting bored on a run I found yesterday: Changing my speed/split time for a mile solid which really forced me to focus and fight for each mile I was in and they sailed by! I think you have been putting on muscle and trading it for fat ratio, because I can see a visible change in you since the new year, easily!! So what you are doing IS working and the number will follow more of it. Keep doing strength training-I'm finding positives from doing the same from home! (I really like two channels for that, by far one called Sydney Cummings Houdyshell and another sometimes called Kayleigh Cohen Strength-which I hope is ok to say, neither are runners.) 😉 I'm also going by how my clothes fit more than using the scale, lately. YAY YOU FOR FIGHTING THROUGH! Ooo, there's a little cheer for you. 😃 Awww again!! What a wonderful thing to do with your daughter-bake it up, girls!! YES! 😍 Enjoy some snuggles and self care. Don't let the stress win, Momma. All this is all worth it! "Right now" will be "years ago" in the blink of an eye. Sending a hug!
Such a lovely comment to leave thank you! 😀 It’s nice that you see a change because it can be hard to see it myself sometimes 😅 Sending hugs right back.
Happy Anniversary to you both!! A lot of fitness instructors will tell you to ignore the scale especially while you are weight training because muscle is denser than fat. It will all work out!
Watching this made me think about how fitness gives you confidence and also sometimes humility. I'm always on this confidence seesaw or taking two steps forward and one step back. The only thing that keeps me going is my why, which was better health (I used to live with pain that is controlled with enough exercise) and I would still love to run an ultra! (😂, but I'm still scared!!!) Anyways, it's really difficult to deal with the scale when you're strength training. If I may (and I'm not taking this advice, so you know...) only weigh yourself once a week, but also take measurements and pictures, because our society tends to value a weight that isn't really strong and healthy for women. You're probably already or at least close to your ideal weight, you just need to build muscle. As for dealing with soreness between running and weights, I'm right there with you. I haven't ran for a month after my last marathon and have been hitting the gym hard, now I don't know how to start running again when I'm feeling DOMS all the time. lulz 😜
You’re right I am really close to my goal to be fair. I have been meaning to take measurements but I never seem to actually do it 😅 Ahh running with doms 😫
Yes this is definitely me with my weight it feels hard to get the weight off but I'm learning to not looking at scale trying to measure more because weight fluctuates especially for women because of our hormones. And omg I am going to running into the rain for my 15k tomorrow ugh kind of disappointed but still going to do it. I will update once I finished it thank you for powering through its helping keeping me motivated.
@@lucyshawvlogs thanks it went well I hit to PBs but unfortunately I accidentally erased the 10ks PB from my Garmin watch 😩 but I had so much this was the first race that I actually enjoyed myself and I ran majority of the time I only walked for a little over half mile out of the entire 9.3 miles I was pretty pleased. And I had blisters but ran through it. Although it did get worse lol but war wounds right!
We are women. Our weight fluctuates constantly no matter what we do. You are doing great, stick with it. Women will always have to tweak their diets every so often to achieve their desired weight, whether that is needing to gain or lose.
The watch predictions are usually fairly accurate, however it does assume you've been specifically training for that distance. So just like if you trained for a marathon you'd run a lot of miles at marathon pace, the 5k predication is based on you doing some training at 5k pace. If you did want to go for a 5k PB I would say you should probably do interval runs such as running 5x (1k @5k pace, with a 2 minute rest or slow jog)... you could also do a mile warm up and cool down so in total you'd be running a total of around 6 miles. Another example is the run I did today which was warm up... 6x (3 minutes at 5k pace then 3 minutes easy) then a cool down. I would say no more than once every 1-2 weeks (talk it through with Matt he'll know) but these are extremely effective. Being so close to your 5k PB with no speed work is a great starting point, you'll be in the 28:XXs in no time! 💪
although not intended for me, thanks for your explanation!, your answer actually entices me to buy a watch. I never really know what to "strive" for, i just want to get more miles, less time in the long run. Right now I track with the phone and an running app which gives me auditory feedback, but no predictions.
I didn’t know it assumed you’ve been training for it, that makes more sense to me now lol. This is what Matt moans at me about, he has set sessions like this on my watch for me and moans every couple of weeks because I’ve not done them 🫣😅 It feels so good to know I’m at such a good starting point. I need to get on a track and give this a proper go 🏃🏻♀️
Well done on your fast 5k. You did not mention if you did a warm up before hand but if you didn’t it would be really beneficial to getting a faster time. Next time try running an easy mile first to get the body warm, stop get your breath back and then go for it.
Your husband will tell you muscle weights more than fat. Being a military wife is so busy. I lived in navy housing and something was always going on. You are still doing great.
I would love to see you vlog a park run / park run morning if you have a local one ☺️ xxx
What goes up, must come down. And it will. Don't worry about it. 😉
And it will! 😀🫶🏻 Thanks!

Run a straight path for 5k. It will be possible. 😊
Straight and flat would be ideal 😀🏃🏻♀️🙌🏼
You have to know I look at your times and hope one day I will be able to do the same. You are still inspiring to me.
That’s such a nice thing to be told! I’m really happy I’m able to inspire you 😀❤️

Do you follow a specific diet? Or do you just try to be mindful of your choices?

Thank you! Yes a warm is essential for these kind of runs, although I spend most of it trying to think of excuses not to do the run 😅
I’m never going to achieve my park run PB again. It takes 3km to settle into it and to set a pace. How on earth did I run a 26:17 5km last year?
I find taking my measurements and the fit of my clothes a better measure of what my body is doing. (The scale is meh.)
Yeah I think you’re right. I’ve noticed small changes in my clothes but the scales don’t agree 😆
Your husband will tell you muscle weights more than fat. Being a military wife is so busy. I lived in navy housing and something was always going on. You are still doing great.

What sort of watch do you have
I have a Garmin Forerunner 55 😀
