Laughs aside, the dream frock was the next garment I made right after I had a massive sewing fail which left me with no confidence in my skills. The dream frock somehow went so perfectly I was gobsmacked and largely it's thanks to your easy to follow videos. It was also the first time an invisible zipper went right for me as well. Love your patterns and your channel Gurl!!!

You mentioned that you learned to sew on an older machine. I, too, learned on an older machine. Mom’s Singer Golden Touch & Sew (aka “Touch & Throw”). The reason they were nicknamed Touch & Throw is because they had a terrible reputation, and deservedly so. I hated that machine. Thankfully, my grandmother had a Singer 99 that was a comparative dream to sew with. I inherited it, and still love to sew with it. ☺️ Edit: I never got to my point! Lol! Older machines are not always the best. I do think you should always know the pros and cons of your model, regardless of era, and definitely test drive any machine you want to purchase from a dealer. If you buy from an estate sale, ask them to let you plug in the machine, pull that scrap fabric you brought along to the sale (just for this purpose), and give it a go. If it isn’t well maintained, if it doesn’t feel comfortable to you, don’t buy it. And I would not buy an old machine without a good understanding of sewing machines in general, as they require special maintenance. If you don’t, you could end up with a Touch & Throw, and it’ll put you off sewing forever.

Giiiirrrrrrrl 💙💙💙💙💜💜💜💜💜 thnk you for this. It was a real blast from the past 🙈 I didn't have any issues with sawing the little point in the middle because I watched your video and stole your trick 😉 as for the size of the skirt... Hehe, I'm a bit too long (aka tall) and measurements are a bit different so I always have to adjust everything and my comment was misplaced I think, I blame myself for this. I didn't really explain myself well there (sooowwyyy). The measurements on the dress are perfect and what I said has nothing on your design (I need to add some gathers on each skirt I make to give an illusion of a bigger behind 🙈🙈😅😅). Thank you so much for including me in this video. I must admit I was scared to watch.

heyyy! Yours was fun to watch! yaay so glad my video was helpful, some people find it a bit challenging at that point! No big deal about the skirt, there is always a bit of confusion around sizing, so it was no surprise and a good opportunity to share some info on sizing for everyone to hear! Thanks so much for making a video! It was so fun and honouring to watch!!

This was SO fun, heartwarming, and motivating to watch!! I love how you cheer for people and don't judge! you're one of my fav sewing person in this community bc you make things look so chill and doable it's relaxing truly! i'm working on my toile at the moment trying to get out of a LONG sewing rut and I'm doing it with the worst cheap viscose ever created bc apparently I hate myself LMAO but I'm stressing out soo much about the grainline and not stretching out the fabric while manipulating it I feel overwhelmed by this process I can't wait to have finish my toile to show myself that there isn't any reason to be so anxious and I still got it in me ya know!! But this video cheered me up a bit because even beginners who don't really do every stitch perfectly and don't necessarily know abt grainlines etc end up with really lovely results and it gives me a bit of perspective on my over achieving sewing self!! this is abt having fun. anyway hoping I'm gonna be able to finish this toile!! cause my finale fabric is TO DIE FOR and I can't wait to be able to use it.

Ok have to comment. Best video. Fun to watch. And I do love the first girl. It’s more fun to watch NOT these professionals instead of someone so natural and cute.
Lydia. I know you must have heard this thousand times but ALL of your dresses, patterns, no matter what you sew …. It all looks fantastic. And it’s the best style. The comfort cozy clothes and the more elegant dresses.
Btw, your apricot dress in the video is …. The 💣 … the color…. The ….. I don’t know…. Everything. And I like your hair.
In Februar I will have my second child. I am so happy about the new baby. But also so sad I can not sew as much as I want. I am still a beginner. But your skills are phenomenal. Of course you studied this.
Would be nice to get a new hardware video, or update. Of course you have the same maschines, but new supplies or gadgets or basics. I saw your videos to that topic, but maybe something changed.
A favorite fabric video would be nice. And maybe a few tips to each. You are sewing mostly big projects. What are you doing with your scrap, small pieces? You are sewing not these little things people sell or giving as a gift. So you keep it for what? Or put it in trash?
    Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
