i bless u with this: When I was young and short of tongue A silly wee fool was I The morning after I left the school I heard my mother sigh Get up, get out, you lazy lout Get into your working clothes Up to your knees in oil and grease With the grindstone to your nose I bought a clock, a bonny wee clock To help me tell the time It waken me every morning With a very poetic rhyme Get up, get out, you lazy lout Get into your working clothes Up to your knees in oil and grease With the grindstone to your nose I married a lass, a bonny wee lass And kept her many a-year. My mother was left with 8 children due to my fathers death at 42 - up at 5.30 worked up to 6 days sometimes 7 days a week as she did overtime. No help given. An heroine.

The phrase 'bonnie wee clock' and bonnie wee lass' are both intrinsicly scottish ways of saying 'lovely little clock' (etc) and the original lyrics use slightly different phrases. The accent is scottish/ English, that is to say it sounds (to me) like the accent of a scotsman who developed an English patois over time. Sorry if that was long winded.

after a good dose of "reverse engineering" i finally found it! 1. Heard a funny chorus on a local radio in my car -> used shazam -> the chinese man -> youtube replay and replay -> google search "lyrics get up you lazy..." -> folk and tradition webpage -> new youtube search with "lazy lout" -> youtube reccomends the weavers :D this would have been impossible 10 years ago!
There is an easy way, when you hear a song, use the name of the song+artist if possible and add the word SAMPLE, you probably will find that way too!. But yah, 13 years ago, would be almost impossible.
Pete Seeger, the Lead Singer/Banjo Player of the weavers was influenced heavily by the folk music of Appalachia. Appalachian music draws its roots from the musical styles imported by the Scotchirish immigrants who established the culture of the region. There is no reason why there would not be Scottish influences in the Weavers's music.
I think this is better about the rap part in the Chinese Man's version, I don't love rap. But the refrain is uncomparable with the Chinese man's one. I'll like to merge the twos to create "The perfect one"

No one sounds like the weavers - they are wonderful

Meglio il remix vero fratello?😂😂😂
Abdull A'kbarr decisamente meglio l'originale
it's incredible when you search Chinese Man samples you find incredible music
Actually no way to disagree with whom are telling that this version is by far a masterpiece ....truly better than the new rap one.
there is space in this world for both to be good

I thought I'd heard everything the Weavers recorded, but this is a new one. Thanks!

Hearing this beautiful song unadulterated kind of exposes how little Chinese Man was actually creative in his version

Possibly the greatest song ever written.

Am I the only one that sees this song as a sad and decadent?
First part says, "The mornin' after I left the school", so it starts when he's a young adult. It's a song about the grind of life.

you can't compare The Weavers with Chinese Man, it'd be like comparing Usain Bolt with me in the 100 metres sprint !!!!!!!
I think it's smth like Em G A, Em G C D with cap 6
instead of D i would say B, but the rest seems fine to me
I just have to speed up this. The groove is real, almost irish. But this rythmth feels to slow for me.
Scottish maybe. There's the original version here somewhere
What are those objects dancing around in the background?
tumbleweed
I am really into this song, has anyone ever found the original video/track or something so? Or can anyone tell me something more about this song?
Sari Galvani is this the original version of this song or exist another original ?
Daniel Di Vincenzo I don't know either :(
If you put in get up, get out Matt McGinn then it will come up. Song was written by my Dad in 1964. Glad you like it -;))
Matt McGinn Really?? OMG!! Compliments to your dad! It's such a great song! 😊
Thank you -;)

Dont think so... The Weavers were from the 50's and 60's and the video seems pretty modern to me...
Mettetela a 1,25
Volevo scriverlo anch'io
È la canzone di saw tra un po

it's from Chinese Man's video, he sampled this song a lot in his song "Get up".

This is the original.
I guess it's an Irish traditional folk song or something. The weavers just sung it and recorded it.
