🕺💃🕴 Hahaha, when I was a teenager in the 80's, I told my grandma Jeannie, that those people only danced like that in the movies, or for those days long dance contests. She just laughed & shook her head, then she told me that she danced like that, & that everyone danced like that. I was simply aghast, & slightly dismayed at the fact that my little old grandma danced like that, & here I was a Punker/proto Goth who looked outrageous! Now, I know where I get my love for dance from!
😊 As a gen z in her early 20's, I admire swing and wish I could dance good like that. And I like tango and 60's-90's various music era too, old but gold❤👌🏻 all thanks to my mom and dad playing music and dancing at home, my mom had an old CD player when I was a kid. (In those CD's there were blues, jazz, swing, disco, 70's rock, French and Spanish pop music,classic.. I think they don't have a strong preference 😂 and, like mother like daughter I like them all too♪)
A lot of people were not aware that rita could dance well enough to dance with fred astaire. i love how he has matched these elcectro songs to these old movies, i think its BRILLIANT !!! And Take Some Crime does real justice to catgroove !! Well done !
Attracted by the music, over time mesmerised by the dancing... His moves are so casual looking but when you look closely really fast, tight and with lots of little flairs.
Parov Stelar’s songs are so good. My mom doesn’t understand why I like old songs so much. I was born in the 2000s but I love songs from the 1900s so much, especially when Parov edits the songs.
we lived out in the boon docks... when we first got TV some of these stars were performing on one of the 3 channels we got...I was mesmerized by Fred Astaire...I had never seen anyone move like that...so many others should be seen...thanks youtube.
Wow there great together!!!! I have watched this so many times and I just can't get enough, I never new they even danced together. And now it's like ginger who🤭. Fred and Rita look happy together too!!! Great video 💖👍😊
Right, I know this the hackneyed UA-cam comment but I honestly made this video four years ago as something to do over the holidays. And asides from embarrassingly misspelling Fred Astaire (yes, I actually can spell it!) I was relatively happy with how it turned out. But one million views is simply mind blowing. If you've watched this, thank you. If you've watched it more than once, what are you doing?! Go out and get a life. And if you've posted a comment wittier than mine, you're officially banned. So sod off. And irrespective, bless you all.
I remember it quite vividly: I was just going to get myself a life when a friend of mine showed me this mesmerizing video. And now I'm addicted. "Thank you" very much. Oh, and don't you give me this self-responsibility crap. This one is on you. I hope you can still sleep at night.
Chasper! I really like the video you made! I love watching people dance, it's like these two float through the air, they are so graceful! And of course, their dancing absolutely fits this swing too!
Excellent!! This hasn't been one of my favorite Stelar songs, but with these dance sequences added here, I have come to appreciate it much more. FYI....The short first sequence is a stage rehearsal taken from Fred and Rita's movie "You'll Never Get Rich" (1941). The 2nd & 4th sequences (some parts repeated) were taken in a night club with the Xavier Cugat Band with them originally dancing to "The Shorty George" from the movie "You Were Never Lovelier" (1942). The 3rd & 5th sequences (in black formal wear on the patio) are also from "You Were Never Lovelier". Interestingly, the song they were dancing to was called "I'm Old Fashioned", a lovely song that starts out quite slow. :)
ua-cam.com/video/twqM56f_cVo/v-deo.html The TSC - Forsythe dance version was the only one I'd seen before this... Maybe it will help you love the song more.
Truly amazing! Well done, Parov Stelar! I watched it at least a dozen times full screen, turned up, I have a black dress I may put it on later after a chilled martini...
some of the clips are taken from a song and dance number called The Shorty George, worth a watch . its better with the original song, saying that as much as i love Parov Stelar
Oh infamously so! Rita Hayworth was the oldest child of two dancers. Her father wanted her to become a professional dancer and her paternal grandfather, Antonio Cansino, was renowned as a classical Spanish dancer. Popularising the bolero, his dancing school in Madrid was world-famous. Rita Hayworth said "From the time I was three and a half ... as soon as I could stand on my own feet, I was given dance lessons. Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse, that was my girlhood." When she was about 8, her father took the family to Hollywood. He believed that dancing could be featured in the movies and that his family could be part of it. He established his own dance studio and taught such stars as James Cagney and Jean Harlow. When Rita Hayworth was 12, her father partnered with her to form an act called the 'Dancing Cansinos' (their real Spanish surname).
Right from when I was a child, I was exhilarated by Fred Astaire’s dancing and charmed by his courteous and gentlemanly nature. A better rôle model than most we see today.
would appreciate if the comments would stop comparing modern dance types with ballroom as if one is better than the other and they’re not all bloody difficult and full of talented and hardworking individuals. it’s difficult to do street dance, its difficult to do swing, its difficult to do waltz. maybe if you all took that chip off your shoulder you would realise that modern breakdance is inspired by the type of footwork you see here. but maybe i’m asking too much of a youtube comments section -_-
Its so mesmerising, how on earth could the women do that in high heels? The music is amazing to though! The thing that I would probably fail at though would be remembering all the moves, those people are amazing! At the end the people sitting at the table just look confused lol.
YES I'm late since it's 2018 but first of all : WAW. The music, the dance moves, the way the two combined fit perfectly, just... waow. Oh and also, the description 👌

I remember as a young kid dealing black-jack at the Rivera Hotel in Las Vegas in1974 and I looked up and there she was standing up looking right at me and our eyes met the "The Goddess" herself Rita Hayworth. She was old but still beautiful...great memory.................
People seem to care about the dancers (fabulous as they are yes), but I wonder who Parov Stelar is and why I have never heard about him before youtube started feeding me videos with his music? (For which I'm grateful!)
When dancing had emotion not saying most dances now don't have emotion like breakdancing or animation dancing I'm morally talking about the dab and the whip one day we are all gonna look back and be like that sh*t was ridiculous
This video should be the song's official video :D ;) . I listened to the "official" sound of this song, but i couldn't stand more than 30-45 seconds, because something was missing : THE VIDEO.THIS video to be precise :P . The videos go with the song so well they should be made it's official videoclip :D ;) .
Their footwork is so well syncronized. Absolutely love it.
Terrific !!
Almost like they were doing to the same music.
Indeed its called practicing and hard work
This footwork gives me the jeebies, folks!
So did your grand-parents cutie pie ♥
I love how the film clip and the music go together so well. Love this song.
It's amazing how well it fits

They really were phenomenal. They made it look like this is how everyone danced at that time, as if it were so easy. It's such a joy to watch.
1:52 when i am too drunk to dance
Me because I can't dance lol
I'm wasted on Hienken.
"Nemo saltat sobrius".
Hahahah!!!
Loll😂
Attracted by the music, over time mesmerised by the dancing... His moves are so casual looking but when you look closely really fast, tight and with lots of little flairs.
Tik tok dances will never reach this level
You're telling me they reach past level 0?
How can you compare with this legend and trash!?
Let us appreciate that she was doing this on high heels...
🙌👏👏👏 Ginger Rogers did everything Fred astair did but backwards and in high heels
no
Mavis Vermillion Yea imagine trying to get up stairs in heels
And backwards.
So was he...

Bust these moves and give her the what for! See how she feels then.

There is a special class, style, and grace that will forever be missed!

Fred Astaire's skills as a dancer amazed me as a kid. he always made it look fun effortless and so sooo SMOOTH
Fred and Rita are my favourite dance pairing. Utterly wonderful.
Its impossible to get bored of this song.
Wow there great together!!!! I have watched this so many times and I just can't get enough, I never new they even danced together. And now it's like ginger who🤭. Fred and Rita look happy together too!!! Great video 💖👍😊
Fred said that Rita was the most natural and fluid dancer he ever had.
And he kissed her in a movie, while he never kissed Ginger.

The sublime Fred Astaire. And no wonder Rita Hayworth was his favourite partner. Magnificent.

Ur name is EPIC !
Rita Hayworth is my favorite star of that era. Classy, beautiful, and talented...and fun.
Movie clips of Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth in 'You Were Never Lovelier', a musical romantic comedy from 1942.

I adore the music, and I miss this type of dancing being mainstream. Swing, Lindy Hop, Tap Dancing, I want this to be popular again
This is my most favourite music video ever…love, love, love...
If I have anything to say about how I get to spend my time in the afterlife, it will be in a place where I get to dance like this all day long!!
