All the products I use as an eco conscious, eco friendly, environmental minimalist.
I have been at varying extremes with my personal care and skincare as an extreme minimalist. However, I have learned over the last few years what works best for me. That these products also don't have to be inflexible. I can have more at some points of the year. Depending on the season, climate and environment. We can be gentle with our skin, body and mind and listen to our intuition of knowing what feels restrictive for us and what doesn't. What may feel restrictive for some minimalists may not for others.
I learned that olive oil soap alone was not great for my very curly type 3 hair. For awhile, my skin didn't mind this extremity. However, after a recent move, with a different water source. My skin has become dry. So now I allow myself to have more products as and when needed. I also made sure there were no other medical factors contributing to any of these skin issues, there is not. Nothing dietary. I just simply have eczema prone skin. Which flares up from time to time now.

Tha is for this! I’ve also started using the Yuka app to scan my products to check the ingredients list. It shocked me that even some natural products I had contained hazardous chemicals

I know it’s shocking isn’t it. The app sounds good 😊

I didn't need any moisturizers until I went through menopause. Now my skin gets dry and itchy and I am prone to atopic dermatitis. I have tried literally hundreds of lotions, creams, and oils. The only thing that seems to work for me consistently is 100% vegetable glycerin. I wet my hand, put a few drops of glycerin on, rub to mix it then put it on my skin. I like that I can vary how much glycerin I mix with the water depending on how my skin is feeling that day. If I use too much glycerin to water, it can feel sticky, but I kinda have getting the right amount down to a science now. Everything else breaks me out, doesn't work, or contains all kinds of chemicals. I do need something heavier on my hands and feet and have been trying out Ethique body cream stick, which *so far* is working. We'll see.

I developed mild asthma in the last couple of years and apparently it’s linked to eczema but now we have the additional problem of living in a hard water area. I then have the additional issue that around that time of the month, I’m more prone to getting the odd blemish. So that’s a time when I can hardly use any creams at all. And I’m prone to clogged pores 🤦‍♀️ it’s a minefield isn’t it. 😊

Great video! I too found Olive Oil soap too harsh for my skin. Dr. Bronners made my eczema way worse (even diluted) and had to find a non-oil based cleansing bar that worked. Our health is far more important! Thanks for sharing!

@@SagelifeMinimalism at the advice of my allergist and dermatologist I now use Vanicream Cleansing Bar. It is the only product that doesn’t make my symptoms worse and has actually healed my skin barrier. The only moisturizer I’m able to use is Cerave Daily Lotion. I desire to be completely low/zero waste/minimal, but at the end of the day my health and quality of life are more important. I hope you find something that works great for you!

@afcopwife I know what you mean - my point exactly with this video. We have to make sacrifices don’t we. Or we are no good to anyone. We can be a lot more useful to the planet and environment if we are healthy and happy 😊

I think people involved with environmentalism miss the fact that social justice is a major part of the movement - which includes equity and access to healthcare! We are in a climate crisis because of excessive production and consumption, not because of people who have to be health conscious. Eco-minimalists, learn to be kind to yourself when it comes to your health - you are supposed to take care of yourself! You're not the problem and anyone who shames you for it has a shallow and uneducated perspective on the movement. Your life is valuable, always.
Most products have misleading marketing that perpetuates pseudoscience and misinformation, and as a person with a chemistry degree, I watch people in this community fall for it because they don't know better and the sources they trust have taken advantage of them. Taking care of your health should never be a reason to be self-conscious about your values, but maybe you can consider how misinformation and marketing have influenced your purchasing habits in other areas instead.

So true… at the very beginning I fell for many greenwashing scams to do with all products I buy. Now I try to fully research the stuff myself and any claims brands make. Then question what I’m willing to live with. What is my ethical balance of justice. Obviously this will be different for everyone. One of my favourite books is a theory of justice by John Rawls. Which is indeed about social justice 😊

Good points. Corporations are the culprits in the climate catastrophe, especially fossil fuel corps. The U.S. military is one of the largest polluters on the planet [if not THE largest] so we who are in the U.S. must fight to end the U.S. imperialist project wreaking havoc everywhere.
There are many more cruelty free vegan products and better packaging options now, and consumers should make better choices, but the biggest responsibility falls on the producers. We buy Bronner's in the carton so that's a bit less waste than the plastic bottles. I buy vegan unscented shampoo from the woman who cuts my hair, she just refills our bottle for a decent price. We have several of those refill stores where I live but those places are expensive and they don't require masking, and the stores are small, so I'd rather not do business with them unless they put in a mask mandate.
My biggest issue is having unscented vegan cruelty free. I can't stand the fake scents. Great video!❤

For deodorant, i have switched to a bha/aha toner. It works amazing, and i am very very sensitive to all other deodorants.

I also have very fair skin and I hate when people tell me that I look tired or sick and it's just my skin... And with dark hair 😅
It's good to let your skin breathe 😌 Does the Aveeno works well for you? 😊 we don't have this brand in France 🤔
I love the Wild deodorant, personnaly I put once and it works! The only bad thing is white stains... 😕
    Nice video as always!! ❤

Thank You Nadège 😊 I know right it’s annoying isn’t it 😂 I always say in a nonchalant manner ‘No 🙄 that is my skin colour 😂’. The aveeno has been completely ridding our skin of this dry rash atopic dermatitis both my partner and I had on our back and arms. We now know it is the alkaline water causing it. For my partner it was even worse. But it’s starting to improve now after apply the dermexa aveeno. 🧴 I wish I only had to put it on once 😂 I must be more sweaty 🥵 😂 Thank You ❤️

Have you tried salt of the earth deodorant? I have got just a block of it that came in a cardboard box. No plastic packaging or anything. You just wet the salt block and apply under arms. I’m not sure if it is very effective though

I have yes every one they do. The roll on. The rock stick. The spray. Sadly they didn’t work for me. The roll on worked for a couple of months but then stopped working. It seems to be what happens to a lot of deodorants with me. The next one I will try will be one I read a review about that is suppose to be a complete anti perspirant but with no aluminium. It’s called rosy pits by megababe.

In your previous video you said with Wild deodorant you needed to reapply every few hours! This isn’t true, I use Wild deodorant, apply it after my morning shower and it’s great all day no problem at all, doesn’t need reapplying.

You might not have to. But I do, some of us sweat more than others. Some people also do different activities with it. So whilst it may not be true for you it is most definitely true for me. My underarms know 😂
