Same with me - I need to write things down. I also write down quotes/notes/random websites. I’m retired now so I don’t need a planner, but I still carry a small notebook (especially when I travel).
The “ one shelf” guideline is what I use. I love mugs and drink from different ones to fit my mood. So I limit them to one small shelf. No new ones can be bought until I have space on that one shelf. Same as books. I have a small narrow bookshelf. You can enjoy what you love, just limit it.
I get joy out of my paper planners, and find that my life is more streamlined with a physical one. It’s also a hobby for me, so I see it as a necessity, as i also track my health issues for doctors and such 😊
If you want your home to smell nice, keep it clean and open the windows! Fresh air, just for a few minutes a day, makes our homes smell good and is better for our health
My mum use paper planners, she can't use the one on her phone and she uses them up. I however use my phone and therefore never buy them. It's all about needs ❤
My husband just bought a refurbished Samsung S20 for $150, and it's perfect. Meanwhile, I'm stuck paying hundreds and hundreds and hundreds for mine and my teens' phones. Never again will do this.
For a planner get a cheap notebook with ringband back. On a page just write out the days of a week with dates and plan your week. Since you're writing down dates yourself it doesn't matter if you skip a week or tear out a page and it's not as tedious as a bullet journal.
I avoid anything that has synthetic fragrance such as scented candles and air fresheners because they contain toxic ingredients such as phtalates, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, benzene, just to name a few. These ingredients can cause a myriad of health issues. Sadly in America, companies don’t have to disclose all the ingredients that are contained in fragrance.
@@username00009 Fragrance oils and essential oils are different. Fragrance oils are made in part with synthetic ingredients. Essential oils are natural which doesn’t mean that all of them are safe for us and for our pets. If one struggles with eczema or atopic dermatitis, it is best to avoid essential oils applied topically. Several essential oils such as peppermint, citrus, tea tree, cinnamon and others can pose a problem for pets.
I bought a used, certified renewed iPhone 12 for about $250. I went the iPhone route mainly because I can stream directly to my hearing aids. I have zero need for the latest tech. I recently started buying quality over quantity. Yes, I paid $55 each for 3 hoodies, however, they are rain repellant and will last for a very long time.
I get a free calendar from my bank each year and use it as my planner. I’d be lost without it. I’ve never owned a backpack. We carried our books when I was in school. I’ve never purchased an expensive water bottle. I guess I am different on many of these.
If you’re a fan of scented candles like me, I can recommend scented wax melts by yankee candle. In Germany they only cost around 3€ compared to the biggest candles which are around 25€+ and they last very long. Love them.
I have tried every iteration of the paper planner thing, and for reasons known only to the universe, I simply cannot finish any of them. I tried it all b/c I prefer paper over digital in everything, but it just didn't work for me. I so wanted it to. Those journals and planners are so lovely.

If I'm giving a gift, I like to make the packaging part of the gift. When giving baby gifts, I will wrap it with a receiving blanket or baby towel. For a wedding shower gift, we usually gift towels, and I'll wrap the whole lot in a bath towel. Nobody needs another bag or a basket.
Glass tupperware.. Buy a few quality pieces and that's all you need. Plastic will have to be bought over and over. Candles.. make your own. It's so easy. We cut wine bottles with cool labels and fill with wax and scent. Fraction of the price of store bought. And breakfast is what is still getting me.. have to figure a way to get off the sugar! Yep.. $2k more a year in my pocket. that would be nice. Take the discount for the store card.. the new limit will add to overall and boost your credit. Use the card once a year and pay off immediately.. win/win.
Why do we need candles anyway? It’s a fire hazard. We open the windows even in winter, then close them once we get too cold. Keep a gap open during the night.
The Apple Watch advice is gold. I bought an Apple Watch 5 years ago and I still regret it. It was like $500 and only justified it because I got into golfing and wanted a golf watch so I figured if I’m goin to spend near that on a watch I’ll occasionally use might as well got one I’ll use all the time. It just stresses me out and have turned off almost all the notifications rendering it pointless.
Instead of a whole book planner, a year at a glance planner is actually useful, hung on the wall or fridge so you can quickly see day of the week and if anything else is scheduled that day. You can draw up your own on a couple of A4 sheets of paper, day of the week across the top, then Just keep going, use coloured pencils to differentiate the months, you only need two, or to be minimalist, it could just be lightly shaded grey with a regular pencil and the other months left white. So handy and minimalist. You could put an X on public holidays. Just sayin' in a long winded way.
That was a very very very good video. Well done. One thought on your last point, the Apple Watch. I resisted 9 years as I thought similarly to you about not needing one. Last year I bought the series 9 and if I had to, I would sell any other Apple device just to keep the Apple Watch. For me it is my most used device ever.
I prefer owning my books instead of paying for access to view an electronic book. I also prefer reading a physical copy and writing in a physical copy instead of using an electronic device. The old fashioned way is more functional and productive for me.
Most of these are great - especially the point about books - but I strongly disagree on a few. Studies have shown that writing things down on paper, whether for studying, journaling or creating has significantly more impact than writing digitally. Candles are beautiful and create a lovely atmosphere. They also don't need to be expensive. Even the quality soy or coconut wax ones you can get for under 10 at TJ Maxx. (paraffin candles are really bad for air pollution). And most will have a burn time of 30 hours or more. also candles: in europe we have a lot without scents, so we lit them daily in the evening. helps to reduce the electricity bill too. :D

The three wicks in the candle is so that instead of ending up with a candle with a big hole in the middle of it , all of the wax burns evenly.
You can alternate burning each one. That makes them burn slower❤
