I can imagine the alternate scenario with Chakotay in charge of the Equinox. They go up against the Hirogen or somebody equally or more powerful, the Equinox gets battered to an imminent warp core breach. Chakotay flies the Equinox straight at the enemy ship and gets beamed off directly to Voyager's bridge, where Janeway quirks an eyebrow and states, "We have to stop meeting like this."
I think some parts of the show would have been better if the Equinox stayed in the group. The strategy offered by having a small mobile scout ship especially when foraging became a necessity. Plus the potential of the 2 captains being forced to work together And does anyone else remember the episode with the Klingon D7? They bailed on that potential too early as well
Honestly that would’ve been a cool spin off idea, Voyager and the slowly recovering Equinox, though I think at that point when they met statistically speaking there wasn’t enough to run equinox and having to move voyager crew back and forth would be hell . But if it was all rainbows and sunshine? It would be interesting seeing Janeway slowly build a small Federation inspired group, like with “Year of Hell” where they went back and asked for other species to join them, would’ve be been interesting seeing Voyager as its only micro federation fleet slowly building and adding more unique species towards the alpha quadrant

Jeepers I know the Hirogen's ship are tough but looking at them here, mostly weapons and engines and other, that crew areas lol. eeh. I do think Janeway had at least 2 Tri-Cobalts, in her quarters beside the expresso machine lol. oh gosh.. Looking at Voy here, well Picard 3 that was with the armor and such.. Love the battle as always Admiral. now when I see the Nov class.. I think of Capt. Harry lol. Yes the Hirogen are wicked and powerful ships.. Need to find that episode, where they sneak behind the ship.. Great video!!!😊🖖
Despite the element of surprise, the second Hirogen battleship was able to raise its shields and fire on Voyager, yet Voyager still managed to disable it swiftly using phasers and photons.
I wished they saved the Equinox, but as they said it’s a short range science ship with limited capabilities. Not built for long journeys or capable of high warp like Voyager and the Enterprise. It was a good plot device to highlight the crew’s desperation, but also clear that the ship would’ve been a drag on Voyager’s journey.

Yeah the only reason why Janeway had that advantage in Flesh and Blood was because that one Hirogen technician aka Engineer helped them and told them the weakness of the Hirogen battleship. I would love to see that picture of Chakotay being in command of the Equinox with Harry as first officer. I don't seem to find it anywhere. It was on a Facebook group, I don't remember which one, sorry 😭. It was interesting though. I find it odd how Turkey Platter stayed on Voyager. He gave up the chance of being First Officer on the Equinox for being Conn officer on Voyager. Can't blame him though. If I find the picture I'll post it as a community post 🖖
What was that cannon that the merchant tried to sell them? Seven accused him of stealing her nanoprobes. That cannon would have helped... it was designed to get through Hirogen armor.
The Ai still doesn't fight as well as a human player. Although it is clever and funny if ramming and changing torpedoes. Maybe do the battle again but play as Ransom. His ship may survive.
I wonder if the Equinox had of been taken along, would B'Elanna have done the same upgrades on the Equinox? Maybe even some tri-cobalts, infinite photons and shuttles?
If you don't mind, RBG, I'd like to request a video or mini-series comparing all the Intrepids against each other. The standard Intrepid, this upgraded one, the RBG Intrepid, all the way up to the Confederation version. I think that would be interesting to see!
i think even if it survived it would of been scraped it couldn't maintain warp for as long as the intrepid class that's without voyagers enhancements scraping it for parts would still be better
Equinox was destroyed for the same reason the Pegasus was lost under Lee Adama: The soundstage space was needed for something else.

There are no survivors from the Equinox unless they launched escape pods.. You can't transport with the shields up.
