The most difficult and ultimate boss you have to defeat is in you, in the form of undisciplined impulsivity, like Dettlaff embodies. When you did that, all other bosses become a lot easier. And speaking of that, I find this boss fight scenario amazing because of the imagery that suggests Geralt is fighting the vampire within his own body. The intended truth is probably some mix of internal and external. It's an ugly, bloody form of poetry. I defeated this guy on Story and Sword with Cat gear on first try with all reg potions used up and max toxicity (Damn use function doesn't have safety activation, so I might have spam-chained several potions in the hurry) and with less than 5% health left while some health reg effect was fighting the health loss from the toxicity. "Acknowledge any gods? Start praying now!" So awesome! By the way, Higher Vampires (not like those lower Katakan, Ekimmara or Fleder) can't be killed and will regenerate over time. The only way to permanently kill them is if another Higher Vampire kills them, which is basically unheard of, since they adhere to a strict code. All Geralt would've done is delay his regeneration for a while. Regis killing Detlaff was essentially high treason in the eyes of his kin, similar to killing a family member.
Corristo89 I’m pretty sure Geralt's sword would delay his regeneration for a good century or so, because gods knows what kind of magic that thing is imbued with. It can deal with almost any enemy, be they ethereal or physical. So I have to assume that the material along with the magic makes that blade more than a simple annoyance to a Higher Vampire. If anything it may cause the regeneration to be flawed, and result in a gnarled and stunted hand if one of his hand were cut off at the wrist.
Eh. Higher vamps can't be completely killed off by humans, but Vilgefortz got pretty close (pretty much incinerated Regis to a stain on the ground until Detlaff found him and infused his own blood to resurrect Regis). I guess if the blood stain that was Regis was carefully stored and hidden away he was as good as dead.
MassacrisM So... a small army of maybe 100 or so Witchers could actually wipe out all Higher Vampires if it come to that point? We know Geralt's skill, although we don’t know if he’s gotten rusty in his old age or if there’s someone better, and he more than held his own against Regis. Another thing to take into consideration is that Geralt prefers not to go all out concerning his fire... magic? It’s been ages since I last brushed up on my Witcher games and lore, or read the books, so I think it’s magic. And theoretically he could have done the same thing, incinerating Regis to nothing more than ashes?
Firstly, the game isn't canon and lorewise witchers are much much weaker than higher vampires. Most are only hired to deal with vermins like drowners, arachas or at most some wyverns or lesser vamps. Most witchers would steer clear from first signs of higher vamps or nasty things like leshens etc. Second, Vilgefortz (guy who did Regis in) was one of the greatest sorcerers ever lived and he pretty much beat Geralt to a pulp with a wooden stick without using any magic. Only these hardcore sorcerers/sorceresses would have a chance against higher vamps. Last, witchers pretty much all died out when Geralt was around and even then they only work alone on principle. Geralt's magic also are only 'signs' i.e much weaker version of proper magic and would at most be a mild inconvenience to higher vamps.
Incredible. Beautiful. Cinematic-worthy. The showcase of skills involved! The use of Viper armor to give Geralt the best witcher look (as in trailer). Aard, igni stream, bomb to bring down the flying 2nd stage. Calm dodging. Igni and aard to interrupt attack, counterattacking throughout and at the end. Guhhbuhhh! Wonder how many tries this took to perfect. Too bad you didn't show us your setup.
thank you for the compliment and comment I am truly grateful. I have a separate video that shows my setup and mods that I use in almost every video if you wish to know how I play the game. it took at least 4-5h of slapping this bloodsucker around to shoot the perfect video I wanted to make but it was worth it in the end :D. I didn't count sorry but I think it took round 14-16 retries cuz the fricking loading screens take 3 years to finish.
I completely disagree with "The use of Viper armor to give Geralt the best witcher look"... Viper armor + Kaer Morhen armor + griffin school armor are my least favourite witcher armors on Geralt... for me the top are: Manticore, Wolf, Feline... But RaxRabbit compensated that drawback by playing it so perfectly and witcherly. :D
Still feel the dev's made a mistake there by turning him back into his human form when he died. The giant beast form is supposedly the true form of the High Vampires, while their human form is just a shape-shift transformation to blend in with humans. It made no sense that he would turn into his fake human form while dying rather then remaining in his true HV form.
yeah i agree, but i'll admit i kind of like it. it makes it a bit more emotional, you get to see him as a person again and not some giant murderous beast. i got upset at the end knowing how much of a bond dettlaff and regis had and it motivated me to spare him in my next play through, couldn't put my man regis through that again
You just prove how good and superior Geralt actually is, 1v1 ing not just an ordinary monster, but a high vampire whom is intelligent, wise, and strong. Well done!
I have to admit, when I first loaded the video up, I had a quick scroll through some of the comments and my first thought was that there was no way it'd be that entertaining a fight to watch. Granted you'd obviously be good if you could pull this off but to be able to do it with such finesses and make the whole fight an absolute pleasure to watch. You are a without doubt, the most enjoyable gamer to witness in action that I've ever had the good fortune to come across.
Now you exemplify all a Witcher should be. That was the stuff of legend. Thank you for making this and sharing it with the world. I eagerly await seeing your performance on the Witcher 4, let us pray that it will be on par with Blood and Wine
@raxabit_ Phantom Liberty proved they still know how to weave a fantastic story, the more creative they become the better. What they need to avoid is making a game with too much player customization of the player character, the history of the company has been dealing with already established figures of the IP they worked on, V being the exception. I truly believe a game giving you the choice of PC from CDPR will be a failure to launch, as recently as the Veilguard put the Fear of God in me I've been reminded of how great a Character Hawke was, far superior to what headcanon you mesh over the Warden or the Inquisitor. The Witcher 3 wasn't woke nor pandering to any demographics and was everything as modern as the world has ever been. Another world as old and storied as the Continent where our own Earth exists within the same dimension is a formidable backdrop to CD Projekt's craft.
@@marcuskiller02 I won't say what the game needs to have/avoid because it's just my preference(a nobody). I'm just making an assumption based on my observation of game development in these times.
"if you acknowledge any gods, start praying" - His transformation shocked me when I had my playthrough many years ago, one of the coolest lines I've ever heard in any cinematic.
Even after all that, the sadness on Geralt's face and his willingness to try and step in to try and spare Regis the pain of having to kill his friend always gets me.
This is a high quality boss fight right there. Video quality is awsome all with playing without hud and not killing instantly I did not notice at the last state of the fight dettlaff become tired and broken. Great video and playing man thank you.

Like a true Witcher-So many peeps don't realize how many fight mechanics Geralt has besides Quen and potions!! Not all "beared up" in heavy witcher armor either. Well done sir!
So much instrisic lore here. I was blown away by such a simple thing. When they clanged their claws at each other. I was like woah is that their call to battle? and then when detlaff turned and did it before facing me I was like. Dude. It sure is. That's incredible. The attention to the small things is what makes the world so much more immersive.
Aside from that gods forsaken toad, this was the hardest boss fight I’ve ever done. The bats man..unforgiving. And on death march, he can literally three shot you unless you’re paying attention.
He was easy for me, but then I had Mutated Skin stacked on Protective Coating stacked on Grandmaster Ursine Armor. What astounded me was how those damn bats still did heavy chip damage through Quen.
I love the way Geralt parry then counter attack, it's look so professional and seem like untouchable swordmaster, you did it very well, nice vid (sr for bad english)

@@raxabit_ That makes total sense. I’ve just gotten a bit of free time so I’ve been playing, and I’m wondering how you practice this style of combat. I’ve beaten probably every mob and every boss in this game hitless on Death March multiple times and without alchemy, but only through excessive side-step use, which sucks the fluidity and pace out of the combat. What would you recommend for practicing how to break that habit and vary my playstyle?
@@DropoutJournal learn which attacks can be parried/countered and use that instead of sidestepping. Also try using different to interrupt attacks and follow up with your own.
What the fuck. I spent like 3 hours on this boss alone. Couldn't do much damage to him and kept dying to his 1-hit bat move. You do it without a HUD. What. The. Actual. Fuck.
must have worn a shit armor... this attack shouldnt be one hit, even on death march. I wore the armor I found in the fairy tale land and that attack only takes a third of my health on death march.
Jesus, that was amazing!! I haven't finished this yet, but this was worth the spoiler! the way you played, it seemed like it was like the cutsecene never stopped. Wow. Well done! earned yourself a subscriber.

2 years late, but you got some insane timing on the parries. This was the toughest boss fight in the entire game, in my opinion. Surprised to see you beat it so damn smoothly
I loved this dlc. I created a grandmaster forgotten wolven build before this fight, so it was a cakewalk. But i loved the whole vampire scene. Especially getting to learn more about Fleders, Bruxa's, Alps, Katakans etc
Haukevvod I don't know for sure, I mean she only killed those that wronged her. Her manipulating detlaff was wrong but him deciding that killing a bunch of innocents is a good way to get back at it clearly makes him the worse one
deceptiveauto she not only acted like she was in love with a higher vampire just so she could use him to do her dirty work (putting the life of hundreds of innocent people at risk), but she tried to kill her own sister aswell (boo hoo she didnt search for me even thought she actually did and i was the one hiding, so she deserves to die). And speaking of her sister, she deserved to die aswell (or maybe just lose the right to rule) because she not only caused the death of hundreds at beaucleair, but she was using her power to ensure that her murderer sister that caused every bad situation in the game to happen wouldnt be punished. dettlaff is not the only one at fault for the mass murder at beaucleair, the 2 sisters were at fault aswell. In my first game, i managed to get the happy ending, but it didnt seem right. now in my ng+ i will kill all of them cause fuck em.
Jamil Inumanox I agree all 3 of them are in the wrong as well as those who treated syanna unfairly, but if I had to pick the one that is most wrong it's definitely detlaff
Flawless!!! Props to you , I can't count high enough how many times I died fighting this boss. It was the hardest boss fight I encountered in the witcher games.
I've beaten this game countless times and still I never knew you could Aard, Igni , or bomb Detlaff when he's flying towards you. You've earned this sub for sure. Amazing fight!
Theoretically speaking, detlaff shouldn’t have respwan as quick as he did. It should’ve taken decades, geralt should e cut him up more to make it take longer. But Regis had to make sure it was permanent
Finally someone who actually knows how to play the Witcher. Uses every aspect of combat when fighting bosses, and not just rolling all over the place like every other person that plays this game. Awesome video
Saw this video a year ago and because of it, Made me want to finally try to record videogames. You're are True Witcher man, Hope to one day get a great channel going. Respect man
I always thought it was funny how dettlaff is a super difficult fight but when you kill the higher vampire that attacks Pricilla in novagraad it's stupid easy
Thats not really a higher vampire. The sequence is elders>higher vampires(regis, detlaff)>bruxae>alps>katakans>ekimarras>garkains>fleders.Though garkains and felders are much stronger than katakans still katakans are superior to them.
Either way, I still find the guy silly and arrogant when he says "you haven't faced one of my kind before have you" its like "umm you do realize I'm Geralt of Rivia, I had a Dragon that was a friend and my Best Friend was A higher vampire, you aren't the first Vampire I've fought.
@@chaosdirge4906 I honestly think this is a point of bad writing on the part of the creators. I don't know whether it was Sapkowski or the game developers who decided that Vampires should be completely unkillable except by another vampire, but it was a bad decision. With such a massive array of powers, but it doesn't fit well with the universe. Vampires are stronger than Dragons in this universe yet their presence affects almost nothing about the world. This is vaguely hand waved by Regis saying that they are just not interested in humans, but he then latter says that Vampires hate this world and want to escape it because humans hunt them. It doesn't really add up. The point I guess I'm making is that it makes sense in universe why Dettlaff is so arrogant, but it was a bad writing decision that justified the arrogance in the first place.

Blood and Wine was such a great expansion, Detlaff such an amazing boss, and The Witcher such an amazing game.
Both expansion were equal imo :
Hearts of Stone for the story
Blood and Wine for beauty and size
Incredible.
Manticore and Wolven Armor are my personal favourites.
TripleX205 ı think feline is the best
huh. I've finally found something that a Dragon Ball reference WONT go with. *Frieza gets cut in half by Geralt* nvm everybody. I stand corrected.
@@user-ie7js1un5l Facts my guy, Even though I was happy I saved both the duchess and snd syanna.... I could feel Regis’ pain
@@dryhard4137 wait a minute...you can save both? I thought the duchess dies by default
@@finntheviking5579 yes u can save both but than Detlaff dies and Regis gets chased out of town because of Detlaffs death
@@user-ie7js1un5l That's is such a human perspective and wrong. That vampire form is his true form, and should have perished that way.
This is how geralt would actually fight :D
Would the real Geralt of Rivia please stand up
You just prove how good and superior Geralt actually is, 1v1 ing not just an ordinary monster, but a high vampire whom is intelligent, wise, and strong.
Dominic Bright you are to kind :) Thank you sir!
Now you exemplify all a Witcher should be. That was the stuff of legend. Thank you for making this and sharing it with the world. I eagerly await seeing your performance on the Witcher 4, let us pray that it will be on par with Blood and Wine
Thanks for the praise. I wouldn't hold my breath. I'm afraid it will be a product of it's "modern" time.
Regis: "I insist"
Dutch: "He insists"
king schulz: "if you insist.."
7:26 Holy hell that parry and finish is so slick. Gameplay really shows Geralt as a master of his craft.
"if you acknowledge any gods, start praying" - His transformation shocked me when I had my playthrough many years ago, one of the coolest lines I've ever heard in any cinematic.
I always come back to this video every once in a while. Still one of the most BADASS Witcher plays i've ever seen!
Thank you :)
One of the most cinematic gameplays I've seen, great work.
2:23 the way Geralt gets position with the music... man this game is flawless as like your gameplay
I freaking hate it when you play perfect but the cutscene still demands that you fuck up.

Ramr Ganteng thank you sir :)
That was just flawless. Everything was so perfectly timed that it almost felt like some E3 presentation.
Intimidating lines often heard in this fight:
Dettlaff: she will pay! If you acknowledge any gods, start praying... now.
Geralt: winds howling.
Meanwhile I die 20 times on Sword and Story difficulty
Me too man
Story and sword that's nothing i died.....on the easiest difficulty
Truth 😅
Even after all that, the sadness on Geralt's face and his willingness to try and step in to try and spare Regis the pain of having to kill his friend always gets me.
Man, I really wish you would do a complete walkthrough. You’re the best player of The Witcher 3 I’ve seen thus far
This is a high quality boss fight right there. Video quality is awsome all with playing without hud and not killing instantly I did not notice at the last state of the fight dettlaff become tired and broken. Great video and playing man thank you.
Thank you :)

This is phenomenal. I got so angry when my brother deleted my save as I was about to beat the main story for the base game. You've given me a reason to push through and buy the DLC's again. Definitely one of the best games I've ever played
This guy is surely a pro dark souls player or he has potential to be...
Amazing skills nice job bro...
your armor, its the very first armor.
well, i believe with your gameplay. you no need armor at all. superb

It’s by far the best looking armor imo I wish you could have it upgraded
Noamias viper armor looks similar
nikos-7- ah, thanks!
Noamias well, you're saying that, but then there's the bear and the cat
I love how you use Igni and the bombs to stop Dettlaf, and in the end that counterattack to improve the closing cinematic
Damn, so flawless I had to save it offline so I could watch it anywhere. Props to you my man

Excellent timing and combo varieties. Very good video mate!
Minh Nguyễn thank you sir :)
Shit I didn't know you could take him down mid flight
Michael Beever you're not the first :)
*sigh* me neither
I did with full sword
Like a true Witcher-So many peeps don't realize how many fight mechanics Geralt has besides Quen and potions!! Not all "beared up" in heavy witcher armor either. Well done sir!
Thank you sir :)
Thought I was watching a well executed movie sequence. It was just you were so good at playing the game
I have been watching all of your gameplays, and the way you fight in this game is awesome! I just love it.
denserdenso Denserdenso thank you sir :)
Damn, you make Geralt look like the most terrifying beast that's roamed the Witcher world.
I might be 4 years late but I have to say that this is the best Witcher gameplay I have seen.
Thank you :)

So. Fucking. Cool.
Dude, you're like the best non cinematic fighter I've ever seen for Witcher 3. THis is amazing!
That's how you handle flying enemies the Witcher's way!
One of the best fights i have ever seen. Well done mate.
I love supporting new channels like urs. Honestly u have great content! Keep it up!
CDPR should hire you to do their gameplay promos.
You play as if you are really Geralt - the entire fight looking like one magnificent cutscene.
I love the way Geralt parry then counter attack, it's look so professional and seem like untouchable swordmaster, you did it very well, nice vid (sr for bad english)
Bảo Ngọc Nguyễn An thanks alot :)
FIRST 1K views on a video!!! haha :D. Thank you fellas!
Congrats, btw are you using any visual mods, cause your geralt seems to be paler than usual and eyes look even more like those of a cat.
+TheMmxfan thank you sir :). I do, all my mods are listed in the description of a video called : How I play the witcher 3. Take a look if you want, the mods are very good.
RaxRabbit you can beat the elder vampire from the cave? or its shust a cinematic? cause i want to kill him
tiranusH.B. Heredia you can't it's a cutscene :/ I would love to fight him to otherwise but the game doesn't let you.
well x100 hahaha this is amazing.
Rax, you're a bad@$$!!! You straight, SLAYED that boss fight! I forgot how incredible these Wiitcher games are! This looked like a choreographed final battle from a kick@$$ action flick!
Ohhhhhh Phase 2 is the one I was struggling on. Couldn't see those damn bats. This is helpful.
I just kept running around.
It is such a shame that I'm discovering this so late, but I absolutely adore your fight style. Wish I'd found the channel back when I'd first gotten the game instead. If you ever plan on returning to the Witcher 3, I'll definitely be up for more videos.
Thanks :) I'm not actually gone. Just on a long break lets say. I am currently unable to make videos.
This guy really knows how to parry. Amazing, amazing skills!
This my friend is what a badass witcher should be like. Very well done and deserves subscription.
What the fuck. I spent like 3 hours on this boss alone. Couldn't do much damage to him and kept dying to his 1-hit bat move. You do it without a HUD. What. The. Actual. Fuck.
Amosarthus practice makes perfect I guess :)
Welp :)
Amosarthus you must have had a crappy build bro , by the time you get to this boss you should have been doing op damage anyways
must have worn a shit armor... this attack shouldnt be one hit, even on death march. I wore the armor I found in the fairy tale land and that attack only takes a third of my health on death march.
this fight is bs

3:30 holy hell that igni was beautiful
Nearly 4 years later but, what a boss fight you did, awesome !
GERALT'S SOUL HAS ENTERED YOU SON
Honestly, this was beautiful to watch! Having beaten Dettlaff once, this made it look extremely easy! I even struggled having the Tesham Mutna armor and quen all the way to the top.. Nonetheless I give you credit for doing it so smoothly haha :3
thank you sir :)
The most exciting fight in the game. A bloodthirsty, killing machine beast vs Detlaff
Such a great gameplay, and the video got me more impressed as it went on.
Thank you :)
Damn i have never scene a more cinematic fight than yours. Most of usually smash buttons and spam quen but we lack your combat grace
You made Detlaff look like a helpless fool 😂
3:31 was just perfect
2 years late, but you got some insane timing on the parries. This was the toughest boss fight in the entire game, in my opinion. Surprised to see you beat it so damn smoothly
"if you acknowlegde any gods, start praying now" says while he get knocked down by aard
Yea..the timing is off. But I think they fix it. while I play the game he said that to me while he was on air.
I loved this dlc. I created a grandmaster forgotten wolven build before this fight, so it was a cakewalk. But i loved the whole vampire scene. Especially getting to learn more about Fleders, Bruxa's, Alps, Katakans etc
Poor dettlaff he just want to be loved
Taste of great skills here. Perfect timing with dodging and attacking plus cinematic style makes it very enjoyable to watch.
Thanks :)
You fought like a Withcer, man!!
for me it was Quen, Quen, Ques, Light Atk, Quen...
Men flawless on death march you mad man, that was pretty amazing.
Glad you saved Syanna, I did too without even realising it lol
William L same :D
Syanna deserved to die, in my humble opinion.
It's still to easy tho for me At least I guess ds has really made me good at these games
you got bitten @ 4:17...still took damage. :D
Anthony! Senpai-kun~ shit I guess I did :( Still a good clickbait though xD
RaxRabbit yup, the most epic and cinematic-like fighting clickbait :D
Anthony! Senpai-kun~
Title says no damage, so OP stayed true to his word :3
what I thought too - Detlaff only broke through quen, not causing damage :)
I've beaten this game countless times and still I never knew you could Aard, Igni , or bomb Detlaff when he's flying towards you. You've earned this sub for sure. Amazing fight!
This game never get old
I don't regret I watched this. You have some great skills. It was a pleasure to see that flawless battle.
Reaper Den Thank you sir :)
I killed Dettlaff with no swords, armor, potions, or signs. All I used was my fists to beat his ass.
Gucci Versace Nice ! A true viking badass
Gucci Versace show me the proof
ScenicGuides gaming you actually believed me it was just a joke.
Well I can beat him without my arms and legs, just with my forehead!
And I'm not even a higher vampire
Beautiful execution!!! I was not expecting that igni on the second time he lunged at you! Beautifully done. Beautiful fight! Spectacular!
Lol!
This could have ended rather soon if Regis had killed Detlaff on the spot instead of just holding him
Theoretically speaking, detlaff shouldn’t have respwan as quick as he did. It should’ve taken decades, geralt should e cut him up more to make it take longer. But Regis had to make sure it was permanent
The greatest boss fight I’ve ever seen. This is exactly how I imagine this portrayed if it was ever put on screen.
Thank you :)
Finally someone who actually knows how to play the Witcher. Uses every aspect of combat when fighting bosses, and not just rolling all over the place like every other person that plays this game. Awesome video
You just place points on quen and you can beat the game without ever taking damage.
I think the biggest flaw of the game is the combat.
I appreciate you trying to make it look cinematic with disabling the HUD and with the camera motions, looking at the bats and stuff, cool!
Holy Sh** ,Pro parry right there, cant even use those parries properly, ill be dead when i face this guy
Marc Christian Bruan Thanks :) You'll get the hang of it. Try to use a sign instead.
That's a katakan(not really a higher vampire)
@@GrimgoreIronhide i was talking about the vampire that attacked pricilla not detlaff. But i agree with everything else.
