Might it be a Range Rover? The epitome of luxury SUVs, constructed by one of the most famous 4x4 manufacturers on the planet, tested here in £120,000 SVAutobiography form and reputedly capable of going almost anywhere in the world, and powered by a mammoth V8 turbodiesel engine?
Or could it be a £15,000 Suzuki Jimny, an old-fashioned little 4x4 powered by an even tinier engine, of just 1.3-litres and making just 84bhp.
We head to an old quarry - a very, very muddy old quarry - to put the pair of them to the ultimate off-road test.

is everyone here for the jimny too?
Anton G yes 🅂🄸🅁
No
Yes
lol... YES!!
Yep. I like reliability.
I dont need proof what Jimny could do, I came here to see how much they wasted that RR.
marlboro9tibike Yeah i clicked the video for humiliating modern Landie
😂😂🔥
Hahaha!
This.
Same here, the Jimny is more of a Land Rover Defender than the new 2020 models.
Jimny is old school off roader. The design assumes that you don't need all the heavy comforts and luxury to travel on rough terrain. And that's what it is. Cheap, reliable and a bump or dent on it will not kill your wallet.
The Jimmy is far more the "proper off-roader": it has live axles, which are almost always better than independent suspension off-road, and the simplicity is preferred by the majority of off-road drivers because it means there is less to go wrong - if it does it's easy to fix too - and it is easier to modify.
I always knew you could little Jimny!
wtfdididolastnight don't ever thought my 1999 grand Siskin
wtfdididolastnight .
nowdays new car is busheet.
Get that little thing to India
Is The Matrix just generating AI gibberish?
Almost none of the above is true.
Had my jinny for 10 years & honestly that thing could go absolutely anywhere..
Even if you rolled it in the ditch it's so light you could just flip it over & keep going 🤣
I want that suzuki so much
Theyre great offroaders, but the on road ride is terrible. I had one for a few years and it was a love hate relationship. It would be great if I could afford to own 2 cars, or if I had a lot of land to play around on.
I say I would want both a Suzuki Jimmy and a Suzuki cappuccino. Would be the perfect combination of sports car and off-roader, and both of those combined would fit in a American parking spot.
Rocket Raccoon get a Samurai instead
Me too, man... 2023 is the earliest you'll see them stateside... meanwhile the rest of the world gets the far sexier new 2019 one.
Rocket Raccoon me too
Glad Suzuki has maintained the Jimny looks. Has a personality.
All that without locking diffs and fancy off road tech... pretty cool.
Indeed, Jimny doesn't have a centre or rear diff lock. But, he forgot to mention in fact it's a part time 4WD which means Jimny doesn't even have a centre diff at the first place! It runs as a RWD car in normal situation. As soon as 4WD (doesn't matter 4H or 4L) is selected, it will run both front and rear axles equally just like a full time 4WD car with centre diff locked, as Jimny has a solid drive shaft without a diff at all. In short, Jimny in 4H/4L = RR or any other full time 4WDs in 4H/4L with centre diff locked.
lovice It is a front wheel drive normally.
This model jimny have 4x4 all grip pro at low
lovice, no. the range rover still has a rear locking diff, so its not equal
Couldn't have said it better myself
The jimny is amazing off road. Can do everything the big boys can, at a fraction of the cost. Love it. Great video.
Exactly, with skilled off road drivers & suitable tyres, both cars would fare better. However as stated, the Jimny is cheaper than the options on the Rangy.
Cavush what about towing a 3500kg trailer?
That Jimny is a classic, remaining example of the Japanese manufacturing and design ethic; out-perform and better the competition, for a fraction of the price.. They do this in every single area they have tried it, electronics, motorbikes, knives, technology etc since the 50's. and something China have tried to emulate but failed immensely.
Shame the Japanese manufacturers are now trying to Eurocentric their products and economise their outlays and manufacturing. We need more of this ethic! Unsurpassed reliability and quality for the everyday person, through excellent and innovative design and quality.
My Workshop dont know of many offroaders that take 3500kg trailers into the mud
Yes, military type off roaders begining with Unimog.
I love the Jimny, and I can't wait for next generation!
Snobery doesn't win in the rough conditions
Jimmy > city tractor
moon shine *Jimny
Noone fucking cares about your 500 euro suzuki.
180 people prove you wrong sunshine.
Mr Smith There's also fanclubs for trabant 501s, even the worst of cars have a following, what's your point.
The Jimny is a reliable car that is awesome off road. It puts £60,000 cars to shame in that respect. Range rover are unreliable, leather clad turds.
Go Jimny go , cost 1/6 or less than the Range Rover and it wins , luxury Range Rover , bare bones Jimny but who cares off road , except you don't want to scratch or damage the Range Rover after paying all that money :-)
Stephen Kite more like 1/12
😮
Whats the point of getting an off road car if you're afraid to scratch it. And also, who brings their range rovers off road. Its built for stupid rich milfs
Great little cars off road and the snow.
The problem is not the Range Rover, the problem is the "driver".
Range Rover is trash
@union310 you probably never driven one so how do u no
@union310 unlikely but if you have then you'd know that it would rinse any Jimmy off road my 2015 v8 goes just fine done 100k in it never had any problems goes off road all the time
union310 where I got the car from in Ipswich they all used them as farm cars, tbh I don’t know how they can afford it but if you had to chose 1 for free which one would you have?
@union310 I do know what you mean when it comes to bigger cars sinking, unfortunately that's the laws of physics the heavier the car the further it goes down, sometimes it helps sometimes it doesn't, in terms of making mess it doesn't 😂
Love my jimny, never want to drive anything else (and I DO go to yoga class with it as well :D )
I'm 1.92 mts tall and i sleep inside mine with my dog when i take it to the dessert...best rig i have had..!
What's interesting is that most people who buy the range rover would never even do that off road. Maybe some. But unlikely. So let's just conclude that the Suzuki is pretty damn good for what it is.
Best modern classic 4x4s are land cruiser 70,80series,hilux/hilux surf,Suzuki vitara mk1 ,Suzuki jimny ,Jeep Wrangler,Nissan patrol 61,Land Rover defender,pajero mk1 and mk2 !
Range Rover is good for getting on a sidewalk and parking there. It's also off-road, right?
theonechocolatechips rocky mode may handle this task :))
Too dangerous for their hand crafted, ingraved, gold coated delicate suspensions.
It's like watching an unreliable lumbering buffalo with a chandeleur on it's head take on a billy goat.😅
Man O War very well put 🤣
lolololololololol hahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Man O War well played sir 👏
Billy goat too eazy mate, just been there with Jimny this summer.
100% Man O War!
That was such a wonderful video ! The terrain was extremely challenging. That's exactly how off road vehicle comparisons should be made.
over here at iceland, where we have some real experience with trucks and suv's, and truly using them in off road conditions, you wont find any range rovers in the highlands, but you cant go for 5 minutes without bumping in to a jimny, those things have a proper ladder chassis, solid front and rear axles, these things just work, you often see auto magazine guys test a range rover on some trail provided by the manufactor, but in real the RR and many other luxury upmarket suv's are not ideal for off roading, low profile tyres, fancy bumpers, vulnerable high tech equipment, puff daddy would get his fancy shoes all dirty real soon if he tried to really off road his RR
What about the Land Cruiser? G-class?
@@alfredoalfaro5000 strong ones too
Opening line I would say you’re more likely to see a Range Rover at yoga than the Suzuki 🙄
Why do so called reviewers always try to ‘test’ cars off road when they haven’t got a clue what they’re doing?! It’s like getting an anorexic to host a cookery programme.
Hear hear, he literally says that at the one minute mark! Unfortunately, this is content tailored for UA-cam, made to get into your feed like it does in yours & mine.
I think It's pretty obvious really. Not everyone that buys these cars will take them off road and if they do, most will not have a clue how to drive through muddy & rough terrain. It would also be pointless having professional off roaders driving them because they know all the tricks to always get them through (regardless of what they are driving)
On a narrow mountain road a small car like the Jimny is about the only thing that can get through to the top to carry supplies (that or a donkey maybe), the only weakness is really deep mud because the clearance is not as high compared to bigger offroaders , but I don't think that's an usual situation.
luxury,comfort, effortless?
that's not offroading!!
The best offroad vehicle is lightweight, has small wheelbase, good ground clearance and the jimny checks all of them.
Great design remains relevant for a long time. The Jimny is awesome!
No surprises here. Japanese SUVs are the real off-road tools for people who demand such. Range Rovers are best on tarmac, outside the country club, doing the school run and on the back of a flat bed truck.
You can't afford a Range Rover
You serious? If you think the Range Rover is like any other posh SUV then you're totally, completely wrong.
best luxury off-roader is Cayenne!
Lol they dont use range rover in real off road. They use toyota amazon etc.
khurramsultan2012 but it is one of the most capable off roader despite being driven by posh people.
This is one of the most interesting face-off I've ever viewed
The Jimny, my favourite rental car.
That's funny because we have one at my rental company. The thing has seen some beating but it's the perfect example of less equals more.
Please do Lada Niva (4x4) vs Jimny.
It has been already done.
MrPaukann in Autocar? Don't think so.
Djordjeblrs, in the same format.
Lada Niva vs Mahindra THAR and Suzuki Jimny.
Niva has IFS so I think Jimny will ace it
Thank God for Suzuki, all these other ‘compact’ SUVs have just grown and grown and grown in size! The VW Trox is about the only other compact one left along with the awesome Jimmy.
Cracking video. My Jimny is fitted with a 3 inch lift, oversized mud terrains and a rear diff locker. For a lot less than the rangerover by 10s of thousands... I know what I'd choose
Suzuki Jimny will beat Range Rover Expensive ass anytime anywhere. No Assumptions there.
Range Rover is king. Jimmy is a kids car.
The Jimmy beat the range rover but the is better then the little Jimmy.
@union310 Did the Jimmy beat the Range Rover on luxury, comfort, space and practically?
Replace that fairy driving the Rover with someone that has some simple commonsense like yourself I'd assume who would most likely remove those stupid road tyres and replace them with MT Tyres that is suited to the job and actually put some effort into driving instead of prancing around like a fairy that has no idea of what it's doing... Then you'd get a better result than the pansy Autocar driver who failed to put in any effort into the task of driving. Paid to play the fool I think... Both vehicles are very good at off road driving if driven by someone who knows what they are doing ..
I agree with brother LOL
2019 jimny is so beautiful now and yes, jimny inst a SUV, is a real old style 4x4 like jeep wrangler or mercedes g class.
I've had a Jimny since 2008 (new) and it has done 82 000km . Some suspension problems and a new gearbox. It will go anywhere but it is quite uncomfortable. Just the way I like it!
I think that with better tires the Range Rover could go through that mud easily, however that Suzuki Jimmy is a great offroader, never underestimate those little Japanese jeeps
Would love to have the Jimny in the U.S. Thoroughly enjoyed them while living in Japan, and I know it wouldnt sell well, here but still it's a fantastic runabout and offroader!
When the range brakes down so will your bank account.
From the closeup video, it appeared that the LR had the tires aired down, while the Jimny's were fully inflated, giving the LR a big advantage. Seems a bit of a cheat.
Great video. Thanks for not making it shorter. I enjoyed it.
The new Jimny looks AWESOME!! Perfect modern update for the little charmer. I may even get one!
Imagine if the Suzuki had 3 locking diffs😍
That was a really enjoyable video, extremely well presented by two calm and collected professional journalists.
Jimnys are brill. Such fun in snow.
This video is absolutely amazing!! I really enjoy it. I really love those two SUVs, and you've made a nice video about them doing that off-road! Thank you very much.
It may says... The most expensive Off-roader vs The cheapest Off-roader!
LOL... Hahaha.
There are so many Jimny's down here in rural Cornwall. Small size for the narrow lanes, they can handle mud and such. They hold their price well, just about the only thing they are no good for is towing.. You can tell if it's a city Jimny or a country one, back seat up then it's city, back seats down all the time for a bail of hay or a couple of feed sacks.
I will say we tow with a Jimny. With a 1035kg 4/5 berth caravan behind it. The sail effect of it upsets it much more then weight. Yes it’s not exactly quick. But it drags us 120 miles each way to santa pod and back to watch events. Will sit at 57 ish with the lorries happily and does a bit more when the time comes to push past. Everything just requires a good look ahead and some planning. It’s ridiculous how adequately the jimny handles what’s thrown at it even when really it shouldn’t be thrown at it.
Yep same here in the wild west of Ireland, my back seat is always down 😂
Didn't know range rover still do off roading since I seen so many white girls driving around with them
Dexter Sullen 'TRUTH' white girls? Lol are you black man? ;)
Miłosz L don't get me wrong here, I have nothing against white girls but that's the stereotype around where I live. Like if I had a nickel for every time sent that combo, hell this the only time ive seen a new land Rover off roading
never seen a black guy offroad either
Dexter Sullen 'TRUTH' ok, so I'm sorry for my misunderstanding ;)
Rude Dogg lol you never seen African people, doing them tour guides, national geographic
" I don't know the first thing about off-road, but let me tell which is the best 4x4" Sounds legit.
Really cool clip, guys. Well done!
Driving one myself I'd say the only thing to improve would be the 17 seconds 0-60 :)
Forgot to say ,the RR guy couldn't drive sheep !.
I've had Jimny, Mitrubishi Parejo, and the Sport, and LC200 5.7 over the past several years. In terms of overland capability, Jimny is definitely the master, no doubt about it. It beats anything you can think of.
Jimny’s are legendary offroad. Every weekend these little warriors. One of our local magazines had one for a long termer and even turbocharged it so day to day the Jimny the Little Samurai is a daily
That Jimny will wade a lot higher than you think.
The dude in the range is just a bad driver off road
No he's not. Despite the fact his car has basically 22" rims with bog standard road tyres he did absolutely amazing. He drove it nearly perfectly. What let him down were his tyres. Low profile tyres do not perform off road.
i cannot see me with that landie conquer that trail. and i'm sure i can do with my cheap ssangyong. that thing have 2 lockers. but look.
Mernerner there wasn't a ladies anywhere near this
Mike B ,well , neither could I see any studded tyre on the jimny ! The jimny also had normal car wheels ! You guys can do anything to make an exotic look great ,I suppose! - from a defender owner!
My friend's Jimny got stuck on the soft sand at the beach. So 5 of us + 2 surf fishermen just lifted the entire car and rescued. If it was a Range Rover, it would be totalled. Sunk like Titanic in the high tide.
This guy has his stereotypes all mixed up. Yoga Pants are literally the dress code for RR drivers.
Do they even sell RRs to men?
The driver in the range rover pretty much sums up what a range rover is. It's an overhyped off-roader with arrogant drivers. You can barely modify one. If you want to go rock crawling you take a JEEP. And if you want to drive across continents without breaking down, you take a Land Cruiser.
Nope, it's a bargain luxury car, has been for the best part of 30 years. None of the cars you mention come close to it's remit. No other car on sale does to be fair.. £80 grand starting price for something that rivals a rolls royce more than it does a jeep. And on top of that, it's a superb offroader, as good as anything on similar tyres.
Any other view is just silly. Like comparing a single seater to a GT3.
Yeah these new ones are shite, the 80s rangies, and (shock horror!) even the P38s are much better as offroad machines. Nowadays if you want a proper offroad land rover you're fucked, as the defender isn't being made anymore and everything else is for mums to look cool outside the school gates.
Range Rovers have always been properly good off-road. Maybe the new ones not as much as previous models, but they're highly competent nonetheless. Better than American crap anyway. And why the fuck would you want to take a brand new Range Rover rock crawling?
No mention of what tyres were on the RR and what was on the Suzuki. I'm sure the Rangey would do much better if it were on some really chunky off-road tyres.
Furthermore, you wouldn't' want to go 4-up with luggage down to the Italian Alps in the Suzuki. The Range Rover is far more capable in other areas than the Suzuki.
Nope. Your Range rover will break down. And it will take a Land Cruiser to come and rescue you.
Suzuki: lose some weight fatty!
Range Rover: *cries*
I own a 2009 Range Rover AND a 1992 Suzuki Samurai. Both are awesome in their own way
I’ve just bought an 05 Jimny, can’t wait to pick it up next week
Keep your thumbs out of the steering wheel, who are you, James May?
jimny is a legend
Make it right, make it light. Here in the Austrian mountains lot's of Jimnys with the forest workers. Dacia Dusters, too.
No comparison both are awesome and legend
You call the RR legend? Its not the old RR anymore
I've had experience with Suzuki machines and mostly, the 2009 Grand Vitara with the 2.7L V6. They're extremely great offroaders.
My friends and I were taking a few offroaders up Cameron Highlands in Malaysia and that hilly terrain is known to be extremely wet and muddy due to all those soil used by rice, corn and tea plantations littered across the whole highlands. I got the Suzuki Grand Vitara while we have a Discovery 4 TDV6, a rented J80 Land Cruiser by an Australian friend who visited us and followed us on the roadtrip, a Toyota Hilux driven by a Malaysian friend (He opens a garage and that Hilux was his work vehicle which, is also modded) and a Land Rover Series III. We were driving into ankle deep mud and sometimes even higher than that and incline that's almost 35 degrees steep and every car got past except the Discovery. The Grand Vitara being the only ones out of the bunch that doesn't have a pure offroad gearing set up was being dogged on even by the Discovery driver (My friend also) but he was the one that was constantly stuck while the rest of us had no issues at all. I really love the Grand Vitara.
Does the new Range Rover come with a "bumper to bumper" warranty?
Asking for a friend.
Neo VeNoM haha 😂 I know your friend 😂😂
I've got a standard 2005 55 reg jimmy with road tyres and when it snowed in the UK before Christmas it went everywhere without any issues! Also the jimny is my first car.
Do you still have it?
My 2008 Jimny has done 90 000km. At guess I'd say about 50% on gravel roads. Yes, we have a lot of them in South America. Lots of potholes and volcano dust. The car has a rather bumpy ride and the short wheelbase makes for rather challenging handling over the bumpy stuff if you are in a hurry. I had to replace the gearbox but other than that it has been reliable.
Lol did anyone think Range Rover will show any kind of performance in this type of terrain? What is next? X6 vs Lada Niva? X5, X6, Q7, GLE... are NOT off road cars, they are cars with off-road vehicle FEATURES. Come on, guys, dont be stupid, this test was just making a muddy mess out of this poor Range Rover. What i would like to see is G class vs Lada niva, but not G65 AMG Mansory with 23 inch alloys, but olg G class Pouch alike. Cheers!
A range rover is a proper off road car,
yeah with ground clearance od 172mm, audi a4 allroad 202mm... and some real off road car like g class 250mm, enough said
Range Rover is the flagship vehicle of Land Rover and it comes bestowed with an excellent ground clearance of 295.5mm. This high ground clearance demonstrates the all-round capability of this vehicle along with its versatility on all kinds of terrain. The vehicle is well adept in tackling the Indian roads with such a good ground clearance. 295.5mm of ground clearance makes Land Rover Range Rover take a lead over all of its competitors in this respect.
Porsche Cayenne, the luxury crossover that has the same starting price as that of Land Rover Range Rover competes fiercely with Land Rover Range Rover in this segment. It comes with a much lower ground clearance of just 215mm. Mercedes Benz G Class offers an even lower ground clearance figure of 206mm. Clearly, Land Rover Range Rover is way ahead of all its rivals when it comes to ground clearance.
You where saying? even a land cruiser only has 220 mm. hahha
Lol from where, from drivers ass? Sorry but in ground clearance, you should consider lowest point of undercarriage, not highest... My knowledge is not from quasi- portals..
the old gypsy can do even better 😀
Harisankar Sony or how about the Austin champ!! 😂
One of them is off-roader.
Other is SUV (sub-urban vehicle)
That Landrover only just managed to drag its belly over that hump, the little Jimny walked over that bit.
The wading depth is also easy to improve on the Jimny by fitting a snorkel and doing some minor improvements on sealing off a few bits a bit better.
Since when range rovers are off road cars again ?
Since the late 70s?
Since they had low range and more than 300 mm of ground clearance and lockers? Fit a decent set of tires and the Jimny won't stand a chance.
Jimny is so much better than the Rover, m definitely taking it to my next red carpet event. Wait! what? no!!!!
Range Rover can look like that, with all that luxury packed in, and still do hardcore offroading. Jimny is a hill goat, Range Rover is the king of the Jungle. You don't complain when a Lion can't climb hills like a goat? It's a Lion after all. Period.
Range rover is bullshit...
...if by "lion" you mean bloated station wagon - queen of the parking lot.
The problem the RR has when off roading is the fool behind the controls. I have a L322 Autobiography and love it, one of the best 4x4 I have ever owned.
Suzuki is arguably the king of cheap and supremely capable fourbies.
I remember I used to have a "long wheelbase" Sierra ute (about half the size of my old man's Y60 Nissan Patrol) that was an absolute monster on the beach and the dunes thanks to it weighing only about 800kg. This is despite it having only about 40hp at best as well.
Why not buy an S-Class and a Suzuki if you want to go off-roading instead of those posh useless SUV’s
That's actually a pretty neat idea
Or buy 200 series Land cruiser
Dylan Hoare Because Range Rover is an S Class AND a Jimny combined?
It's an attempt to do that but clearly fails..
Offroad - 200 series cruiser.... Come on man, you could have said 80's ,79, 60's etc
*What 🤔I'm Having Both of Them Fok-it Yea👀*
which is the song at the beginning and the end?
"What mud?". That killed me. The title of this video should rather say, "Jimny vs RR"
back in the late 80's early 90's when gm and suzuki had a partnership to build them in Ontario ,Canada I had one as a demo and that thing could more places than any other product they sold for half the price and came with off road style tires and always started in minus 30 or 35 weather and had better heat than any jimmy or blazer built at the time and are super reliable. the engine in this one was derived from the sameone i drove the only difference is the newonw has a 16 valve head instead of an 8 valve head. it would be great to see if they offer an LSD or diff locker as an option and manual locking front hubs for cost effectiveness and better fuel economy. And like electrikkoptik said when you want to cross a continent you take a Land Cruise, definitely not a Range Rover
Plz bring that suzuki in india
Lots of ppl r waiting for it
We never get the good stuff
When we r ready to pay 3 times the actual price of the car after the taxes
goa clean It's been in India for a long time. In here it's known as Maruti Suzuki Gypsy.
goa clean we already have it. The Gypsy. Just the looks are different.
But hopefully the Jimny is coming soon.
Bibekananda Roy read my statement properly
Does our gypsy has a short chasis
Auto gear
No na than i am asking for that ...
I know, you are basically asking for the short chassis version.
Hurrah... It's going to be launched in India... Soon
Guy who thinks his range rover is for offroading made me laugh so hard.....
Proper woman's car😂✌️💯🇬🇧
You guys are reminding me of the sorrow I felt when Suzuki withdrew from the Canadian market
Sad day 😭
Lighter that’s all, the RR always going to struggle....🤔
If you want a car to get you into the outback, you take a land rover, if you want a car to get you out of the outback, you take a land cruiser.
callyakn even though Ive owned and loved a LR S3, well said. Land cruiser is king. But I also love that little suzuki.
jigrodrigues agreed, we’ve always wanted to own a 90 defender... however the landcruiser Colorado that we bought in 1999 still runs like the day we got it... and so no defender will be replacing it just yet!
callyakn there is a reason why in africa Toyota "killed" land rover, especially in the work horse market. Much more dependable, no doubt.
jigrodrigues every safari, nature programme, they’re toyotas 👍
callyakn im assuming you are from Austrália. Im from Portugal. Over here is really hard to mantain a large 4x4. Crazy fuel prices and criminal road taxes. Ive read that suzuki will release a new jimny for 2019. I truly hope it comes to europe.
Entertaining thanks lads
Hello. Can anybody recognize what tyres are on the Jimny? Thank You!
What I want to see is one of the reviewers put proper off road tires on the Range Rover and then review it off road. Everyone seems to only do it with the city/road tires they come with then criticize it for not being able to do certain things that would really benefit from having off road tires. I mean they even do this with the G63 4x4^2 which is even more ridiculous considering you could order the thing with the off road tires straight from factory. I get the whole idea of reviewing the vehicles as is but changing tires and wheels really isn't modifying the car that much, if at all, and why not just do it for the hell of it for those of us that would actually consider it.
1xtra299 problem with that is you cannot put smaller wheels with higher profile tyres on these things as it won’t provide enough clearance for the enormous brakes they fit to them.
Yeah I was thinking of that right after I wrote my comment. That being said I did some searching and it turns out there are a few brave people out there who've managed to put what seems like 4" lifts on a few of the newer Range Rover Sports, but I can only manage to find pictures, no video of them in action.
Not only tires. There is one crucial, often overlooked difference. The Jimny has a chassis, while the Range doesn't. That means the Jimny is a lot more rigid and will also take more abuse. Imagine you lift a Range, all the bolts are inserted in aluminium sheet (probably) and once you modify the angles, the forces at play will probably result in sheering off bits and pieces. I have seen that with cars that are unibody and you try to lift them.
That Range is strictly for on pavement use and maybe a snowy road or a light logging road from time to time. I cannot forget the time I drove a LR Discovery 4 through mud. All the lights on the dashboard were looking like a christmas tree, as all the sensors did not react well to mud. I am talking about proper off-road, not that light course in the clip.
Adi B with respect mate, it doesn’t matter what else you have, tyres are your final contact with the terrain, and if they aren’t doing the job, you are going nowhere. Do you think an F1 car could race on street tyres? By no means am I going to discount ground clearance as a factor, but traction is key.
1xtra a lift on those vehicles is nothing more than tricking the air suspension
I dont mind saying that the Jimmy is a good little offroad car.
But the muddy hill climb was flawed.
The landrover look like it was going as slow as possible to make sure it didnt have mometum to go up the small hill.
The Jimmy was at its first attempt going a lot faster, but it failed its first try.
- and allmost failed its sekond try
And the last LandRover try wasnt much faster than its first try.. it would make the hill with a bit more speed and a bit more heavy foot, and some tires for something else than pavement.
But all we need to go offroad is.. low gearing, diff lock on all 4, and a light car with ground clearence, its not science.
jerk ! ;)
Your correct.
Your right! And He said it "i'm not an off roader" then why the hell he need to ride and test a range rover on offeroad!
And one more thing for sure he did not lower the tires pressure which will make a big big different in the proformance!
I noticed that as well!
Surely makes you wonder is all the gadgetry and hefty prices under the name of technological marvel really required to make cars great! Wonderful video!
i think its the 10th time i watch this video. A year and a half i bought my jimny, same as the video and man it is a very fun car, gets me everywhere and si reliable. Done a lot of trails and difficult tracks that everytime i go offroading. it surprises me the capabilities and all that with no tc ecs or abs
If the Rover has lockers, so should the Jimny, get the Zero dollar Zook in there
It doesn't get any better than this.
Toyota land cruiser sitting on the side laughing at this cow and goat trying to off road .. but to be honest im totally impressed with the Jimmny , what a machine ..
I wish those were available here in the US. Sadly, even before the Suzuki car division pulled out of the US in 2013, the Jimny wasn't one of the offered models. The gen 2 (called a Samurai here) stopped being sold here in 95 or 96. I'm hoping that the 4th gen will be rebranded and sold here under a different name, but I won't hold my breath. :(
Nicely done!
