Pt Ajoy Chakrabarty, a living legend of Indian Classical Music, is a doyen of the Patiala Kasur Gharana and represents the gayaki as well as the legacy of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Sahib. His knowledge and unparalleled mastery allows him to portray in his music, the nuances of other major north Indian gharanas and Carnatic styles, with elan and grace. In the maiden Bengal Classical Music Festival held in Dhaka in 2012, Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty began with an alap in Raag Ahir Lalit. The recital was rooted in the serenity and devotion one experiences at dawn. The audience was captivated by the nuanced sustained notes, deliberate meends and heavy gamaks which beautifully describe Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty’s oeuvre. As the dawn streaked the sky, the raag rendition was made memorable by Pt. Yogesh Samsi’s deeply moving tabla accompaniment.

Perfect notes....but Fish n meat eating Musicians can never reach the highest sublime level of Dhrupad which requires pure body n mind with only Sattwik food needed for austere Dhrupad Practice. Rudra Veena suits the best....JHANKAR is breathtaking ..not for common musicians ....may be you get the highest publicity....earn a lot....but true Dhrupad singers are unparalleled spiritual geniuses.
Rest reputed Musicians of the Age are geniuses but level is different....on mundane level only.

I would disagree though. As long as the diet is balanced and is within the bounds that modern medicine allows, any healthy productive hard working musician with an innate musical ear would be able to reach mastery. Many ustaads have attained mastery in multiple fields -be it qawwali, ghazals, khayals, sarod, sitar, tabla- you name it.
I'm pretty sure when Amir Khusrau devised the mutiple classical genres he never maintained a vegetarian diet. Diets are personal- as long as it's healthy and medically apt, it shouldn't interfere in one's progress.
This is khayal vaii. Kya dhrupad dhrupad laga rakkha hai.
