Glad to see this old tow truck is getting closer to being road worthy. I know everyone is about the patina, but I say sand her down , give her a decent paint job and put “what the rust” on the doors. You guys are awesome. Thank you for saving these trucks.
You already have a win with this truck. Other than the essentials (brakes, wiring, etc.) anything else you do to it is just gravy. Blessings to you both (and your "fur babies").
Thank you for such a great channel. So positive and warm. Also so interesting and nice to see all these beautiful parts of Tennessee and the surrounding states. Happy new year from Sweden! 🇸🇪💙
I just watched this on the TV excellent video ole Mator looking spry great team work ya'll get you a good indoor project ready we here in Tennessee are about to be dealing with some serious weather for a couple weeks starting in a few days God bless and have fun !
Thank you. It is nice that UA-cam supplies these tracks free of charge lately. I remember JonathanW from way back. Good to hear he is still playing with cars.
Hi Christina and Richard......the old wrecker is looking Fantastic !! I sure hope that those of your viewers that are new to the car hobby are taking note that you don't have to spend thousands of dollars to have a Cool ride that you can be proud of !! Sweat equity , I believe they call it. Wonderful Job ! Every dog I have ever had the privilege to have in my life , have been rescues....and they have all been the best !!!! Thank-you for adopting that cutie ! Bless ya both and Happy New Year !!
Very good video on the Chevy Advance Design. One of my favorite body styles for Chevy trucks.I've had two in the paste,a 48 and 52.Keep going on this one.
I am so glad you guys have decided to put Mater back on the road! It can be a big part of your channel if you can eventually put it back to work to some degree, at least on close pick ups. It would be cool.
A rare thing to see, when it comes to welding on cars: Richard's actually using a stick, old-school style! Looked like a 7014 or 7018 (?). Right on, you just don't really see much of stick welding on most car repair on UA-cam. Nice to see Richard "draggin' sticks." What I love about Richard and Christina: those two are soo cool, they could make a snowman out of rain.
Thanks! I like stick welding. Growing up, my Dad used stick and gas welding exclusively. I got used to it then, and I still like it for thick materials. The rod I used was an E6013. It is a bit light for the job, but it performed well.
In my opinion Richard you should’ve used 7018 welding rod because the stud and hub are hardened steel but hopefully the welds don’t break. Anyway love your videos.
I love your channel because of the skill and the optimism you bring to these projects. And of course your pleasant personalities as well. Happy New Year from N.B. 🇨🇦
thats a nice patena job youve done on earl. and your interior work christina looks amazing, neve thought it would turn out that nice when you guys got started cant wait to see more
❤the buckets look like either 80's Cavalier or possibly 70s Vega...great ole Tow Truck to have around the yard for moving junk around , give her a coat of Penatrol flood and paint the frame and wrecker up stick some Reflective Tape on the bumpers have fun with it...Happy New year from Nova Scotia!
Now you've got a portable engine hoist if you're at your house or you can take it with you on a trailer and use it for pulling stuff out of the woods to bring it back to the road
Your Doing Fun Stuff that I've Been Doing for 44 Yrs. Getting Excided About Bringing Them Back To life! I Would Consider Knocking Out the Dent on the Left Fender. My Son's Morris Minor I Took Off Both Back Fenders & Pounded Them Out. Enjoy Your Videos!
The truck looks great. I hope you can pound out that fender. Can wait for the updates. Hope you had a great Christmas, and Happy New Year. Thanks for rescuing your dog. On behalf of Bonnie the Beagle (rescue) and myself, thanks!!
Looks great Christina and Richard, can’t wait to see more progress on the winch truck! Thanks guys and stay safe, warm and healthy throughout this winter season! Kirk from Louisiana sending prayers and positive energy for yall! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙋🏼✌🏻✌🏻💯💯💯
Excellent Video Christina :) , Richard :) also nice on Chevrolet tow truck to come up to and nice dog 🐕 saved too ! Dark Forest Green nice color for old tow truck cab and black on tow part on back !
What a great project! Along with the water pump and brakes, do you think that carburetor could use an accelerator pump? I cant wait to see the two of you and Rustlyn cruising that neat old Chevy down the by-ways. Great video!!
Great job Richard, when I saw those rear wheels I thought for sure you were just going to remove the entire rear end, I didn’t think you were going to be able to solve the Lugnut issue, looks like a fun project
I say that all the time😂 I must confess when I was sanding on the truck I shredded a few pair myself and was so into my work it took a scrap or cut to get my attention. Tunnel vision. Have a great New Years!
Nice job you two! Earl is looking good. Can't wait for when completed. It sure rains a lot up there in TN! Here in central FL, we don't get much above avg most of the year.
Hello Richard & Christina: The project is lookng great. I am not a Pitina look fan, I prefer fresh paint on most refurb projects. On this one it would be shamefully to repaint the doors. They have a .ot of Character. Regarding your rim & tire issue. You can still get 16.5 tires see Tire Rack. If the rims are in reasonable shape regarding ring & hook for the lock ring the old rims should be OK. I have changed many. You just need to find an old country tire shop that still does farm implement repairs. City shops for the most part do not seem to be willing to do the manual work involved with split ring tires. If I lived close enough to assist with the project I would do them for you. Whatever you come up with will be better than it was before. Projects to be satisfying need progress not perfection. Most of us do not have unlimited budgets. Keep up the good work and I hope you can save even more from the crusher in 2025. I will be watching.
Hi guys, first off Happy New Year. This is turning out great. Nice work on the interior Christina . You need to take this beast to the restaurant that you bought it from once it’s completed. Richard you’re a magician with your skills to get these relics running again. Always fun watching your videos. Thanks guys, looking forward to more What the Rust in 2025.👍👍👍❤️
Happy New Year Dan! The restaurant closed, but we plan on taking the truck to a local car show nearby, where the patrons will see it. That should be fun!
Maybe a basketball and a couple blocks will get that big dent in the fender of the winch truck! I’ve seen guys using basketballs and footballs to get dents on cars and trucks! They deflate them and put them in the fender well and inflate them and the dent pushes out! It’s really cool how it works! I bet it will get all of the dent out or most of it Christina and Richard!
I did not realize you guys purchased the cafe truck. Looking much better. You both worked hard. Thank you Richard and Christina! Happy New Year’s guys. 💯👊👍💕
Earl is a cool tow truck! It would be interesting to take Earl to a cruise night! Very unusual vehicle, you will never see a tow truck at a cruise night. Do you think you will get a front bumper for Him? That would really finish it off. But he sure is looking great! You have come a long way with it, It's fantastic!! Great job on him, Richard and Christina! Hey Christina, you mentioned finding money in these old vehicles? Well ,I found a $100.00 bill in my 1966 Barracuda that I bought in 2014. I was shocked. Anyway, Great seeing you again, always look forward to seeing you on the tube! Hope you had a great Christmas.
WOW!!! Love it. No offense to the "fresh new paint folks" but I like what you did. It also makes it possible to get more of them back on the road, because most of us are working on a budget as I'm sure you are. Awesome content, see you next time.
Por15 is a perfect top coat for the floors and the frame of your truck you can literally brush it on and it’ll dry to a smooth shiny surface and stop the rust and it’ll dry hard almost like a enamel I’ve used it on all six of the chevelles in my collection and I’m doing my 67 mustang now.
so it isn't the wreck it looked like after all. :) the biggest challenge might be cleaning and repairing without destroying the aged look. :) rubbing the paint on is a nifty idea. ^^ looking forward to more! ^^
Good job Richard and Christina! I think the front tires need to be taller, maybe 75s, otherwise I'm liking it. I have a 51 5 window I've been working on so I love these trucks. Lots of parts are still available. Most glass shops can do the glass for you although aftermarket has them too. Keep having fun, Richard you look so cute holding the dog. 😂
its mater from the cars movie. i think it was a old dodge on the movie but thats animation. that old beast runs like a watch. thats another good old relic you saved. awesome.
I hope you and Christina had a Merry Christmas, Richard. 🎄🎁😎 And have a great New Year! I'm definitely looking forward to see what 2025 will bring, as I'm sure you guys are too! Earl looks great! Awesome work from you both!! Thank you for sharing!! 😎🔧⚙️

Thank you. You're correct, winter is about to hit. Luckily, we have my Christmas gift, a 71 Torino to play around with❤ Stay warm😊
Good choice in music at the 18:55 mark. I know a few Tubers who use that particular piece, a fellow with the "handle" JonathanW, comes to mind...
Thank you. It is nice that UA-cam supplies these tracks free of charge lately. I remember JonathanW from way back. Good to hear he is still playing with cars.

Thanks Mike. Happy New Year.
I am so glad you guys have decided to put Mater back on the road! It can be a big part of your channel if you can eventually put it back to work to some degree, at least on close pick ups. It would be cool.
I agree. Actually using it would be awesome!
Awesome work! With those lights on top of the fenders it reminds me of Dad's old service truck. Glad to see the dog is doing well.
I like the old winch truck, I think it would come in handy around your yard moving those vehicles around! Would be so cool!

Just a little insight if you take a basketball and deflate it and push it in the front fender and inflate it it’ll push some of the dent out.
