Filling an Ag Bag with Corn Silage
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2020
- This video shows us making progress and filling the ag bag. There's still corn in the field, so we will be needing a second bag which is a first for us! We got to use an International 986 to haul wagons which was another first. The International 1466 is running the Kelly Ryan Big Bagger, the Farmall 560 is still running chopper boxes, and the 1256 is running the New Holland 790 Chopper with 822 Corn Head. We had some heifers escape, and a new bull calf born.
I really appreciate talking about working on Sunday.
You gave great answers w/o "blowing up" or getting " thin skinned "
Thank you!
You're a good dude and I think the Good Lord knows you have to make hay when the sun shines.
I think I should clarify that my clip about working on Sunday, wasn't meant to be rude to the original commenter, I agree with what they said, I just wanted to clarify why we were working on Sunday, if it wasn't something that the church allowed I wouldn't do it. I do appreciate all your support, we have the best fans out there. Thank you all, and may God bless you!
I always look forward to your videos and thanks for taking time to show us. Happy birthday to Justin.
Don't pay attention to these so called church people that know nothing about farming,
Farming is a seven day none stop job and work load . But harvest time is the same with all the other jobs that come along with that.
One day out of the field can be a very bad outcome for the farm. So please folks have some respect for the farmers that work so hard .
Nice IH music you got going there Alan, and I agree, when I was working on a farm I only feed cows on Sunday and the ONLY time we did any more was like you, hay season and filling silo!!! And Happy Birthday Justin!!! God Bless You All!!!!!!!!!!!
We used to work a lot of Sundays on the farm, especially when my dad had another job off the farm. I don't think much of guys who will work every holiday and weekend just to get a big pay cheque to buy fancy toys they don't really need. You are working to provide for your family and when you're not extremely busy you take your Sundays off. No need to feel guilty about that in my opinion.
One tough little man! I think God looks with more favor on providing for your family on the sabbath than boating or shopping.
Thanks for the video and talking about working on Sunday. I also sometimes struggle about it. We have a neighbor who doesn't work on Sunday. It's been a few times that he brings up a time that hay drying weather was perfect and he had 2 full days of baling ahead of him. He baled all day Saturday until the dew came. Rain was in the forecast for Monday morning. Sunday was a perfect day but he wasn't going to bale. Monday morning it started raining and was on and off for two weeks. He lost all that hay. Seems to me that he would have been better to bale then to stay bitter for all those years.
great video, your farm is down to earth not like the others, it's like a home town farm, it's just awesome, on our farm it was 7 days a week, and long hours, people just don't understand, that farmers bring food to there table also happy late birthday justen
Understand on the Sunday deal. You cant put the cows on hold nor can they chop their own silage. I have faced it before myself...Don't you as a farmer work on Sunday yet the same folks who told me that were at a restaurant after church having someone wait on them for their meal!!! Just keep on keepin on!!! Kevin!
11:48 I LOVE IT !! never too young to give a HELPING HAND !!
I think your a farmer for 7days a week period, Nice bag of corn must be a good feeling to have all that feed in storage, thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
Yes, a very good feeling going into winter. Thank you and God bless!
Happy birthday young man🎂. Alan, I do believe God looks into a mans heart and that’s where only He is able to see what are our true motives are. It takes courage to share with people what you believe. Thank you
Good camera work by everyone. The little guy hooking up the wagon made my day, he said he could do it and he did it, maybe with a hand off camera from Mom but we didn't see that :)
The good lord knows you have to bring the crop in. And looks like he gave you a beautiful day to do it.
Love your videos. Keep up the good work. Sending blessings from the great north up herebin Canada
Really enjoy the videos! I'd do anything to be in your shoes still milking cows! I'm a Catholic from West Central Mn grew up in town but bit by the dairy bug at 4 years old, made my dream come true for not near long enough, milked 80 cows in a stall barn loved every second of it, but between a tornado and the poor prices I unfortunately lost the farm and cows the fall of 2017, but watching your videos fill the hole a little bit, I got 4 kiddos and they were by my side all the time and nice seeing that at your place! Keep up the good work!
Glad you like the videos, thanks for watching and God bless!
Nice camera views mounted on the chopper looking forwards and back and the close-ups showing the bagger in action. I really like your videos.
Nice! Sometimes in Minnesota you have to do farm work on Sunday day because mother nature doesn't cooperate on Monday through Saturday. Tell Johnny and his nephew to show us their face someday too🙂🐄🌻 💛 I love the farmers helping farmers 💝 It's a demanding field with lots of helpers needed.
I really appreciate their help, farmers have to stick together. I'll definitely try to get them on video. Thanks for watching!
at 3:35, I love that "whine"
The louder the better.
I feel the same way!
I'm loving all these International tractors.
Tell little dude nice job hookin up the chopper box up to the 560!! I used to do that when i was his age....45 years,ago...lol ☺
People go to the store on Monday out of milk sorry yesterday was Sunday couldn't work. Come on people farming is 24\7 job and most of them are the most religious people out their. Thanks for the video and God bless you.
Happy Birthday Justin
We thank you for your comments on the Sunday chores..It is obvious you have God at heart and we Pray God will bless you all.. You got guts and strength to stand up that way..Keep on goin strong.. Again if you have not already, give a quick Google on St. Isidore ...Man his intercession and tradition are something to behold and Rosary ...Stay well .Rich
Hey Alan another great chopping video! When we seal up a bag we always put about a 2 inch long slit in the end of the bag to keep it from gassing up and blowing the bag up. After 5 to seven days we tape it shut, the main thing is to make sure the gas is down. I have seen them blow wide open for other people before. Usually you come out in the morning to find a nice surprise. We've done quite a few bags over the years and never had one blow yet.
Wow! I've never heard of one blowing out. A dairy my brother worked on, made a lot of bags, they tried venting but had trouble with spoilage, I guess that's why I've never done it, but I'll definitely keep an eye on this one. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
Never have I herd of a bag blowing up and the gas the ensiling process makes eventually goes away never slit the bag to vent it you’ll get the first 10 feet rotten
I have seen it happen to other farmers several times. The worst is probably oatlage. It usually ripes right at the stretch marks as this is the weakest point. Also there are other factors that can lead to spoiled feed at the end of the bag such as how soon the bag was sealed up after it's filled and the method used to seal it. We have had times where we have had to remove 6 or 8 loader buckets worth of moldy feed but I would much rather have this then a blown open bag. I have seen guys try to drape plastic over the top of the feed on a ripped bag, then tape the top and cover the bottom with dirt and let me tell you they had way more mold then 7 or 8 loader buckets. Most of the time we get no mold when venting.
Happy birthday Justin 🎂. Thanks for the video Allan , sometimes when you farm you have to do work on Sunday I believe it says some where in the Bible about the ox being in the ditch you have to get him out, God Bless and stay safe 👍
My late Grandparents and Uncle were practicing Catholics running their dairy farm. They worked on Sunday during harvest. Normally they would do just the basic chores on Sunday.
San bernardino california loves you all.hard working,God loving family.we need more like you all.
Love your videos.
You're farming - you should always be working on Sunday if the weather is good and you have stuff to get done. That goes without saying.
9 foot bag din Inngth in feet: 150
Capacity in Tons of Feed: 156
(From a chart prepared by University of Wisconsin.)
💚 The videos - well done.
Thanks!
That is a sweet 1466. Dairy farmers have to work 7 days a week. I am catholic too. We end up working many Sundays when it is harvest time.
God bless you and family..
Happy Birthday Justin!! 🎂
Nice corn crop
Happy birthday Justin
3:20 the sweet music of a straight pipe international
Hope Justin had a good Birthday.
I'm happy your teaching them young though I dont farm my familly has been farming the same land 150 years. We had a relative killed by a tractor around 20 years latter his son was killed by the same tractor. You guys stay safe.
Good video! BagAll bags are really good. That's what we use for the bagger
I've heard of those. That's good to know that those are good bags. I did actually find a local guy that had another Up North bag.
@@trinitydairy that's great! Hope you have enough to fill that bag. We are going to fill another 9/200 Friday
👍👌🇨🇦❤, some very guilty looking cows
O I get ya! At least your not on a main highway! About a month ago I got a can then a pounding on my door at 3 in the am from the sheriffs department, ( you have some cows out by the road) yep their sure we're in the ditch an road five heifers out on our country highway, o what a pain so that time! But the deputys helped get them in!!
👍👍GOD BLESS
Great video! Haircut and shave mkes you look younger.
Nothing wrong working on Sunday few years. Back father al use to come help after his last mass on Sundays he loved helping
Should be right around a ton and a half per foot. Depends on moisture and packing density all that jazz. Leave that bag gas out for a few days before ya close it. Thay way not slits of holes to tape up just wait a few days and close er up tight
God Bless Trinity Dairy
My grandfather quoted somewhere in John or mark if your ox is in a ditch get it out, my grandmother retorted should left that ox in the barn.
2 silos full and 1 bag filled make for a good day at the office! Inspite of the fugitive heifers!! No awesome beast from the camera person???
I wouldn't mind making a trip up to Minnesota to help you guys during harvest and ear corn harvest I got my coveralls and heavy ass cloths just incase I work at a sale barn here in Colorado and when it gets cold sometimes it feels like your balls are gonna fall off cause of the cold speccily with that 30 below we had last year that shit was cold
Happy birthday Justin. And who made it through the maze first? Great video, hope you find another bag. I like the grain store that way better then pallet up on the ground.
They were way ahead of us at the beginning, but by the end, the 2 younger boys were getting pretty tired.
When I had my cows I worked 7/24 365. No days off. Just kept going. God is watching and he knows who to let it. Work hard and thank him often.
.."I worked 24/7"
Maybe if you worked a little faster you wouldn't be working "24/7"
Don't come across as a windbag !
It has been my experience that the farmers who DO work hard rarely brag about it.
Hi Alan..... If the calf is in the pit?????
I use green bags, they work good and are cheaper than up north. Only problem is every bag is in the box backwards lol
Lol, I've never heard of green bags, but I'll keep it in mind, I was able to find a up north bag, from a neighbor. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
One question it seems like WI and yall in Minnesota wait a little longer to chop in IN I seem to recall doing it a bit sooner.
In this area, we have a short growing season, so most of the time the corn needs to freeze, so it can start drying down.
So, do you cut the bag open and let the cattle graze lengthwise?
We use to do that for my grandpa's beef cows, when we piled silage, but with the bags, we scoop it out of the ends with the skid loader.
Hi, usually how long does it take unload those silage wagons when you are using the bagger?
I haven't timed it but I will try to tonight and let you know. Thanks for watching!
do what you gota do
Do you put any additives on your sileage? I don’t see a tank on the chopper!!
Yeah, I'm using a granular innoculant, I had an applicator on the silo blower, but couldn't get it mounted on the bagger so I'm just spreading it in the wagon by hand.
Do you use an inoculate when you fill the bags?
Yeah, but I couldn't mount the applicator on the bagger, so I just, spread it on the silage in the wagon, by hand.
Me going to watch trinity dairy 🙄 realises I have to wait till tomarrow😐
Shouldn’t the corn be green if you’re chopping it for silage?
This corn froze, that's why its brown, but it still has enough moisture to ferment, that happens here a lot, we have a pretty short growing season. Thanks for watching!
What’s the test weight for moisture
I have never heard of anyone near me who cut a slit in bag to release silo gas and I never heard of a bag blowing a hole.
a HAIRCUT !! is this Jen's work ??? (it was making me CRAZY)
Yep, she's getting pretty good with the clippers.
@@trinitydairy
Well at $5 every TWO WEEKS for every guy that adds up to REAL MONEY !!
I just found you & really enjoy your videos. I have the exact same bagger & have always struggled to stretch the bag to capacity. I run a 1486 at 160 hp and work it real good. I max out pressure on gage but still can’t get marks stretched to 11 inches. What pressure do you run yours at?
This one doesn't have a gauge, it has two brake calipers that you tighten with a wrench, and you can adjust it until you get the bag how you want it. Thanks for watching!
Good video that young man hooking up that trailer tongue gets a thumbs up and atta boy oh Jesus said the sabbath was made for man not man for the sabbath it’s (okay) to do good on the sabbath
God understands they are his cows .
So do you chop all your corn? Haven't seen a combine yet.
Occasionally we will pick some ear corn, my dad has a 6600JD combine , that we use for small grain, due to the short growing season, it's difficult to get ripe enough corn to combine.
When are u posting again I'm dieinggggggggg waiting for another amazing video
Working on one now. Rural internet is slow!
@@trinitydairy I know what it's like having bad internet lol it is an annoyance especially when your trying to work on somthing then it cuts out
How much did you buy the farm for when you were 16 also I like the hair cut
Let's just say I did get the family discount.
Lol my uncle has beef cattle now he use to have dairy but he sold them 5 years ago but last year he had a problem with the beef calves getting out and the fence was electric too but they would somehow get through it without breaking it and one day I was unloading hay wagons and my uncle calls me and says there is 9 calves in his back yard and I'm like holy crap gotta be a hole in the fence I get up there and the fence is perfectly in tacked
Also I was wondering do you think it would be worth it to raise and sell cattle or do dairy
@@tommiceli6223 it's amazing how they can find ways to get out.
@@trinitydairy I know lol, Have a good night
Hi trinity family Matthew 12 .
Maybe the kids can make a few bucks selling "WINNIE'S POO" to gardeners ??
I believe your corn head is a 824 roller side feed not an 822
The ID tag says 822, but I'm not to familiar with the NH heads
Hair cut lol I just felt little not. Wife says looked good
In my opinion if a farmer doesn’t work seven days a week the people that complain that farmers shouldn’t work on Sunday won’t get milk for their cereal and food for their bellies so if you people complain that farmers shouldn’t work Sundays just remember if there’s no milk or meat on your table you were the ones that were complaining about farmers not taking Sundays off
Cows you cant train em right... keeping the Sabbath sometimes you gotta run and do some work... I was not wondering I know... my dad tried to only do milking on sundays until harvesting corn then especially once the corn freezes you got time against you for silage. Dad did some things late sunday evening like cutting hay sometimes after milking and fit things in according to weather.... these city folk dont get what it's like farming... it's a lifestyle not a 9 to 5 job
Some of you are being a little harsh towards the guy who questioned Alan working on Sunday.
Alan set himself up by stating he was Catholic.
When Joe Biden mentions ...he..is Catholic, he gets asked why he supports abortion.
I lived all my farming life in the #1 dairy county in Minnesota.......Stearns
Primarily German Catholics and working on Sunday was RARE.
necessities...........milking cows and feeding animals .
However, I can see Alan's plight with the corn getting drier by the day.
You ever put up that much silage for yourself before
No, this is the first time we've needed a second bag.
@@trinitydairy that's a good problem
That's for sure!! I can hardly believe it considering how dry we were in the Spring and early Summer.
Didn’t Jesus pick some wheat on the sabbath. Although it did upset some people. You can’t please all the people all the time
Anyone who would comment on that has no clue what it takes to run a dairy farm
4:46 a day of rest during HARVEST SEASON ?? I may advise others how to VOTE (TRUMP) but NEVER on RELIGION (brought up some bad memories about the NOSEY NORAS)
Why do you chop dry corn for a bag or silo?
You lose alot of nutrition value
This corn froze so it looks dryer than it is, around here most years, if you chop the corn green, the kernels are still in the milk stage. Thanks for watching!
Happy Birthday Justin
