    The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. If you wear headphones, your mind won't be blown, but it will go, "woah, that's cool."
    I'm also the producer for the Winding Road UA-cam Channel:

    Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly press vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, it's pretty nuts. Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Why are you still reading this, you should be watching the video. With headphones! Hah, had to sneak that in there one more time. Later!

    Come hang out at APX Boston! This year is going to be a blast - it's a great chance to meet me and a large group of other automotive UA-camrs. They're holding it at K1 Speed in Wilmington, MA on Sunday, September 16th. We'll all be karting and hanging out with everyone that day. "There's a reason why they're so popular," and it's NOT because they are the only game in town, even if they ARE the only game in town! They started out being the best small, front engine RWD roadsters ever, and amazingly, after 30 years, they are still the best. Even the originals, the NAs, are still the best! They are of course specialized for driving, so they don't do everything else quite as well, but they're also cheap, tons of fun, bulletproof and also quite pretty! What more could one want?

    I want a lsd in mine and do a few mods, but nothing crazy like turbo. It's good to know it has enough power to spin the tires. My friend was giving me grief about it not having the power to spun tires on asphalt. I love my car to bits. It doesn't have much of a rattle or squeak only when you go over the occasional bump but not anything major.

    @TheTopher, I'm working on a 1990 NA Miata right now! It has 176K, no rust, but it's still a fixer upper.
    I'm in the process of changing the starter, and so far I've changed the battery 40A(twice) and 80A fuses. I tried to jump the diagnostics box by using the Gnd and TEN pins but all that did was blow the 40A fuse. I read somewhere that if it doesn't have a CEL light, you have to put an LED with a resistor in the cabin fuse box to prevent shorts, do you know anything about getting it to flash trouble codes?

    Nice review! What are your thoughts when comparing this NA to an ND1 or ND2? I found a very low mileage NA and I’m thinking of going this route vs. having a monthly payment However if the monthly payment is worth it (buying an ND because it’s way better than a NA) I would like to know.

      TheTopher thanks for the input. I know you owned an NA yourself and enjoyed it! I enjoyed those videos and the rest of your videos. The NA8 I’m looking at is a single owner with only about 61k miles but it has some dings and and scratches in the chassis so it’s not perfect cosmetically however it’s pretty mint inside. They want a pretty good chunk of cash but it may be worth it due to freshness of the powertrain.

    Good point about hopping up Miatas... they lose some of their fun driving personality, in fact, they may lose most of it! In it's place you get something else, i.e. muscle and speed, but if that was what you wanted, maybe you'd have done better with a Mustang? I am modifying my '97 slightly, for handling and sound (Koni adjustables, Cobalt cat-back, real oil pressure gauge) but not power. I want the original, exemplary driving experience.
    I had a '94 for 11 years, and I NEVER (or seldom) felt a need for more power. I guess I like working with limitations!

    It's probably up for much debate but would you pick an NA2 or an NB2 Miata? Reading lot's of thoughts on this it seems the NA is the way to go if you want raw driving experience. NB is the way to go if you want a more lax, comfortable experience.

    • @soggybread9846
      @soggybread9846 2 роки тому +1

      I've owned my NB for almost 2 years and its still a pretty raw experience, but you've got a lot more modern features and it just generally improves upon what the NA does. Honestly though just go with whichever you like the look of more. In terms of driving experience they're pretty similar and you can't go wrong with either. Great cars.

    • @TheTopher
      @TheTopher  3 роки тому +2

      It’s a pretty big difference in both sound and power, after owning a 1.8 I don’t think I’d get back into a 1.6

    • @daigosaito888
      @daigosaito888 Рік тому

      I went from a '92 1.6 to a '94 1.8
      The 1.6 is about as fast, hardly any difference powerwise. The 1.8 feels much bigger. Its a whole different car torque wise and the gears seam to be longer, at least i can stay in gear much much longer. In the city im hardly ever in 3rd gear up to 50kmh. But in the 1.6 i was shifting non stop. Also highway engine noise is much, much less.
      1.6 would do 3,5krpm at 100kmh(60mph)
      1.8 does 2,5krpm
      Like i said it feels like a much bigger engine.

    Being in the rust belt, PLEASE, OH PLEASE, do whatever the best rust proofing, weather proofing available to you. Spend the extra money to get the absolute best treatment. Treat it twice a year. These things will rust at just the hint of salt on the road. I mean seriously. They WILL rust! It’s a sad, sad reality in the Miata realm.
