Frequently Asked Questions:
😇 How old are you? 23
📝 What are you studying? I am set to start my MA in English Literature at Oxford this autumn.
📚What are your favourite books? • 200 book recommendatio...
📚 Do you have a book club? Yes! You can join it here for free: fable.co/club/reading-with-th...
📝 Have you written a book? My life goal is to be a published author and make a living from writing and I am using this year to gain experience, build up a portfolio and work on a book with my agent. I have just finished the final draft of that book, as you can see in this video. I did self-publish a book about bullying when I was seventeen which is available on Amazon (amzn.to/3mdJKLm), but I'm slightly embarrassed by it now!
🎃 Do you have merch? I don't have merch in the traditional sense (I can't imagine selling something with my face or name on haha!), but I do have a stationery company where I sell planners for students. These are all designed with students in mind and follow models which I've used when planning my studying. Our products are printed in pastel colours on recycled paper: bit.ly/3wgsR85
🍵 What's your favourite tea? That's a REALLY hard one, but I think I'd have to say the B&B Chocolate Digestive Tea: bird-and-blend-tea-co.sjv.io/youwilllovethisone (affiliate link)
Ruby jst gives Hermione in a way
Yea definitely
She is Hermione
Yea. 100% 😁
@@okno2277 not literally
I agree. She is a vibe :)
So, I have made it a routine now.. I literally make sure to watch atleast 1 video of ruby every single day. She is just so so inspirational, I've managed to study consistently for long hours and focus for 12 hours every day. Ruby if you're reading this just know that you've been my greatest source of motivation since 2017. Thank you for being such an inspirational creator in this platform ❤️ thank you ruby
You don't have to concentrate for 12 hours a day, it's harmful to your health.
congrats, just make sure to include any form of exercise, I'm trying to incorporate work for 7 and read for 4+ hours.
Impressive discipline but let me sar you a piece of advice, you should not study so many hours for several reasons, firstly because it is proven not effective for learning and secondly because it is detrimental to your mental and physical health and will lead you to burnout, look at Ruby, she does not study twelve hours unless it is special cases, her life is rich and she also takes care of her physical and mental health, she exercises, walks, does skincare, eats enough and well and finds time to do the things she likes besides being consistent with studying, you can't do all this by studying 12 hours a day
I would love to see a commonplace video! How is it different from bullet journaling?
It’s very different! It actually originates from the 1600s and John Locke!
I would definitely love to see a commonplace video also!
count me in!
It originated in Ancient Greece and Rome to record learnings and musings. :-)
I'd like to see one too. Sounds fascinating
The way you are able to stick to so many habits even after a long day of studying is very impressive. I'm nowhere near as disciplined! But thank you for the idea to integrate dissertation work, even if it's just for 5-10 minutes, into your routine. The enormity of the task makes me procrastinate and i flinch when i even think about it :(
Where did you buy the timer? I looking forward to get one and I realy like the one from the video.
You will always be my biggest inspiration. Watching you since 2017/18, so proud of you Ruby🤍
So much love 🧡
For moisturiser, I’ve been using Cerave lately. My face doesn’t feel dry or itchy at all.
same, my favourite is the cerave pm moisturiser
@@tisadominika8385 my favourite is the moisturising cream. The texture is thick, but it doesn’t make your face greasy. I used it on the plane when I went to France. The PM one was also a good product to use on the plane, too.
Hi. I just wanted to say thank you as i am a year 8 and before i started watching you a found my self not being able to keep concentration for more than 10 minutes , however since then i have progressed and can easily do 2-3 hours and can now read properly in whit h before i had to use coloured overlays , i know that no one will probably see this but i just wanted to say thank. You xx
Watching your videos gives me an amount of motivation and energy that makes me able to go ahead with my studies even when I'm too demotivated or tired. I could watch your videos again and again just to catch that sparkle I need to go ahead and study even more, until you release a new one, which is always a blessing.
Thank you
Thank you for these videos. They are so relaxing. I live in America now but I lived in Europe for 13 years and miss it so much. I know you are in England, but this is still so nostalgic for me as I spent a lot of time in England. Appreciate your aesthetic and wonderful outlook on life! 🌸
Ruby’s energy is so motivating 🤍
I love these Oxford videos you’re doing! I’m actually an American studying for my bachelors in teaching social studies (what the US calls humanities) and English and have considered teaching in the UK and am looking for post-secondary courses in the UK for training and licensure. I love seeing these UK college experiences on my favorite cottagecore channel! Lots of love from the US, Ruby!
Please make a video about using a commonplace book!!❤💕
Wonderful video, Ruby! They always bring me peace.
Im so excited for your Christmas study with mes/ vlogs . You are such a big inspiration for me❤
It's been three years since I last watched your videos and so many things has happened since then.
Tonight, I randomly thought of you and decided to watch your vlog again. Seeing the same outro brought a comforting sense of nostalgia ❤
I literally leave it playing while working. The tone and the sound of Ruby's voice bring me a piece. It doesn't matter what's going on. Just like that, a few words and the clouds are gone.
THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS POSTING, RUBY ❤❤
that is a nice and cosy dorm room. perfectly conducive for both study and relaxation.
Adore this video.. Five years since I completed my masters. Ruby you always spark a hunger for study in me. Although with a 3 month old now that is my little study for now. 🥰
I’m very impressed by the dedication you have about learning in general and I envy you a little in that way. You have a sort of calming aura about you as well that makes it so easy to watch your videos. As of moisturizers, I recommend anything Clinique if you can get your hands on it!
Thanks Ruby. You really help me in my legal practice. I use a commonplace book to brief new jurisprudence. I find this technique helps distill very complex legal matters and provides inspiration when I write opinion.
Que felicidad verte, tu siempre tan increíble!!!!
Those dance workouts look so nice and I know when I do yoga or something more relaxed it helps my body feel so much more at ease in the evening!
I have really been loving Sukin’s skincare products. I go for their green label. I always had a hard time with moisturizers too. I find that less is more with my skin so I use maybe half a pump at a time. Love your nighttime routines, they are how I found your channel awhile back! 😴🌌🌛
Wonderful and relaxing video as always. Love it!
What a tidy room! Like the fast-forwarding technique you use in these videos.
Hi Ruby, I hope you are having a great time. The ballet class workout looks so interesting, honestly I will try it out
The video is by ‘Lazy dancer tips’. Elesia is fab!
I need an Oxford vlog and when you are out around the place... I really love it 💗
Definitely would love to see a commonplace video Ruby.. Thanks for sharing with us ❤❤
Weleda skin food is a great moisturiser. There’s also a light version which is slightly less heavy. They’re also a cruelty free brand.
I love skin food!
Love the vocab tip!
I really enjoy watching your videos. Plus love the screen saver you used in this video.
Ruby Granger, thanks for your video, Congrats, studing, evolving day by day with harmony.
Thx for the tip about the whip cream nozzle!
I would love a video of how you commonplace! I have just kind of gotten into it and I would love some more insight on how to do it, and how other people use it to get the most out of the practice! Especially you!
Hi Ruby! New follower here, I would love to see a commonplace video, I have a hard time with a standard journal or diary but I think the commonplace book would suit me more. You are such an inspiration to me and please keep up the great work you are doing. I love your enthusiasm!❤
Hi Ruby, I spotted you in Oxford recently, I really wished I came up to you to tell you how much I enjoy your videos… Keep going, love them so much!
I love the Minee timer you have! I'm a big advocate of the pomodoro technique so it looks cool ☺
thankyou Ruby. this is lovely.
Yes please, the commonplace notebook video is much needed :)
Your vlogs motivate me so much! You have no idea🫶🏻
I have also recently incorporated the usage of a commonplace, and I love it! I would very much enjoy a video about yours.
Great moisture I have used is Neals Yard sensitive moisture. You do not need to use much so the bottle lasts a good few months. Love you videos ❤
The brand Simple is really nice - try that for moisturiser and facial wipes/washes etc.
You inspire us to stay humble 😊
Your routine is so perfect!! As a tired gcse student, after hours of school and studying i can barely find the motivation to shower! You're so inspiring ❤❤ (also going to make hot chocolate now, you have made me crave some aha)
fellow gcse student, how do I put my head down and revise after school?
Oh I hope you’re doing okay and being kind to yourself. It’s a very stressful time… hot chocolate is needed ! X
@@hana-ov1ju I recommend coming home and just starting without taking a break, it gets you into the flow and leaves you time to relax later xx
I would thoroughly enjoy a video about common-placing as it is something I would like to start!
Also, I find moisturizing works best when your skin surface is still wet so that it permeates the layers rather than remaining tacky on the surface!
Peripatitic is actually a greek word , that means one who can walk and is used in greece by doctors to describe a patient
Ruby, you are quite good at set shifting and I am not at all. You are able to jump from thing to thing for short periods of time, whereas I need extended periods of time with deep concentration. You are obviously an excellent learner and I find it interesting what works for different people. I have a doctorate degree so have been successful academically as well. I absolutely love your videos and thank you so much for sharing your Oxford experience with us.
I agree, having so much little tasks every evening would be both intimidating and distracting for me. I prefer focus on one thing at a time for at least an hour. I always found it bizarre how Ruby is able to read while brushing her teeth. Don't get me wrong, i LOVE reading and I don't have to push myself to read at all, but reading for 2-3 minutes and then going back to washing my face feels like absolute torture
@@user-gr2dw8md1oYes! I need the continuity. I also don’t know how she does it.
Lovely vibes 🙌🏽
Really love your routine videos, they are always quite inspiring if I feel to switch up my own. Though I have to admit that I'm also curious to know how you manage your daily/weekly chores while studying at Oxford. 🙂
A good moisturizer for you: CeraVe moisturizing cream. I watch A LOT of dermatologist UA-cam channels and they ALL love this moisturizer. I use it myself and I love it.
You are an inspiration Ruby! I'm living in France for the moment and learning french and your videos are a real comfort. Good luck with your studies!!
Oooooooooh I would love to study French. Thinking about doing a level French as I used to enjoy doing the subject at school.
you should do it!!! and then go to france!
Love your sharing Ruby ❤❤❤
would really love to know more about your commonplacing methods! 💛
Hi Ruby, I would love to see a video about how you use your common place book:) Love from Germany!
I totally agree with the vocabulary exercise. It’s absolutely essential if you’re studying a foreign language but also I think it’s great for your first language too. Definitely want to try that because I keep a list of new words that I find while reading and I should practice them haha
A dedicated video on common-placing would be great! It sounds super interesting, and I think I might have been doing it without realising
wonderful video, so calming❤ Thank you. Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré has been helping me out for many years now.
Lovely update!
Would absolutely love a video about common placing!!! ❤
I am at my second year of English degree but I am almost give up thinking this is not my heart want. But you're inspired me to keep on my track and not give up. Thank you so much Ruby.
Love this. Thank you and GOD
bless ❤❤
Ruby you are just the biggest sweetie, thanks for the update. I have to use a checklist at night or I end up getting out of bed to do things!
AHHH A NEW VIDEO LETS GO
8:22 highly recommend The Body Shop’s moisturisers… my two personal favs are the Vitamin C and Vitamin E moisturisers. I use the Vit C one religiously day and night and it brings such a healthy glow to my skin and it feels great when applying !
Since you like Greek tragedies I just wanted to let you know that in Siracusa(Sicily) a festival of the Greek tragedy is yearly held in May. Basically it's about going to the performances in the Greek theatre in the city but I don't actually know if they have any other related actiivities. Sicily is full of Greek theatres by the way( there's even one in Taormina).
I've also noticed you started Latin. It's good considering that not so many british people study ancient languages.
Good luck with everything!
i would love to learn more about common placing !! i've never heard of it before this video however from what i understand of the concept from what you mentioned it sounds like something i already kind of do naturally but not organised at all ahah and would love to just learn more about this xxxxx
seriously it is really inspiring
your a hard worker ruby
Ooh I’d love to see a video on commonplacing!! I’ve never heard of it before so would love to know all about it, it seems so interesting 🥰
I have always used newspaper and translations from mother tongue to English and vice versa to improve my language skills.
Today I learned something new.
Ruby, it will be amazing if you can make a video on how to further improve and bring creativity in English Language and or unique study tips related to English Language. Also a video on how you keep yourself organised digitally.
Thank You. Have a great day, Ruby!
your videos are the best!🎉
I’d love it if you did a video about your commonplace book!
I use clearstart moisturizer and it’s also a 30 spf sunscreen!! I’ve struggled with acne for years and this one is super gentle on my skin
Lovely cosy video as always - I don’t know how you do it all ! I’m shit at looking after my skin and I put off spending money on any sort of self care (even when I really need it) BUT an amazing vegan and cruelty free moisturiser I use (which you can get in the U.K.) is the SOS spf 50 - it’s amazing for dry and sensitive skin 🙌 loving the Oxford content and so happy for you 😊
As far as moisturizer: I use plain old Cetaphil. I like having one product that works on my face and body and it’s not terribly expensive. It’s also generally good for sensitive skin.
I would love a video on how you use your common place book!
I will definitely do one!
i’ve used the original nivea moisturiser for years now and i really recommend (especially if you have sensitive skin like mine) it’s super hydrating and a perfect everyday staple!
Ruby u have no idea how much I love u and you're my best friend ❤
Cerave moisturizer has been a game changer for me! A must for my morning and night skin care routine :^)
Your videos always help me when I'm in a school slump and btw Nivea soft is great as an face cream and rly cheap too
When i was 12 (2017) i watched your every video (my favs were hermione granger ones). Now i am 18, soon 19, and i am so happy that i had a chance to grow up with you, watching your videos and watching you getting older. Its so lovely ❤️
I would love for you to post a commonplace video! I’ve just recently heard of it and have been considering starting one, and would love for your take!! 💖
I do the same thing with vocabulary. It could be entirely new/unfamiliar words that I don't know, or words that I know but never use, or words that I'm not entirely certain I could use in a sentence. I keep a list then I practice writing sentences with them. Sometimes it turns into a really good writing session. I've been doing this for over 20 years.
Ruby I hope yoyr studies have been going well ❤❤. You are an actual angel in every single way. Your videos and pretty much everything about you is such a safe space for me
Hi, Ruby! I've been losing a little confidence and vigour in English. Your videos help and if you have any tips for this please reply below! Thank you for always spreading so much love and kindness around! 1:50
I don’t moisturise either, unless I really have to on rare occasion. When I do, I use an organic rose water mist with glycerin. It doesn’t have toxins like many products contain.
A great moisturiser is La Prairie, they do lots of different kinds but they aren't greasy and are super effective
Love your videos ❤
Would love to see a video on common placing!
For moisturisers. I recommend the coconut water cream from “First aid beauty”. ❤️
You're a complete bookworm , I have to say I'm really impressed cause I have alot of things in common
I'd love to see a video from you on how you use a commonplace book! I'm thinking of starting one, but I'm a little unclear on how it would fit into my day to day life.
The Beauty Pie Jeju moisturiser is lovely
Highly recommend the Avene XeraCalm replenishing balm - it's got no fragrance and it's the only cream that actually soothes my redness/acne, it's so nice as a night cream after a long day of being outside in the winter cold!
A good moisturizer is the ordinary natural factor moisturizer 😊 love the video 💕
i would love a video on commonplacing, i really want to get into it but i have no idea where to start! a video detailing how you commonplace would be very much appreciated :)
Yes plz, a commonplacing tutorial/walkthrough/history! 😊
