I would definitely recommend using reference management software, like menedely or endnote. It will be game changing and make referencing a much less tedious task 😊
I worked at a university where all the faculty used it. Started using it myself when I went back to school. Made such a difference! The work is in absolutely proofing each citation after you import it. (Create a proofed field to keep track of what you’ve checked.) After that it is so much easier to just add the citations while you are writing and know that they will be there and correct when you are done. As to which one to use, find out which one your university has the most support for and which one is most used in your field. You still do need to go over it at the end, but it’s more of a proofread than doing references. Checking that everything is there and looks OK. It seems like more work when looking at one paper, but once you start writing in the field having all the sources you’ve previously used all available is amazingly helpful. If you’re going on to the PhD, it will become necessary. All of these softwares store the PDFs papers and have space for your notes. You can also do shared references with co-authors if you are using the same software. It seems scary, but as someone who’s worked in faculty support, at a certain point in an academic career it becomes necessary.
@@nony_mation it’s not just for saving time, it’s also for keeping better track of your references. When you work collaboratively you need every person to access all the references or add their own, also if you use APA or similar the references need to be in order and if you were to do it manually and then decide to add a reference halfway through, you would have to renumber everything and probably make mistakes. Also when you submit to journals they often ask for reference format changes which is one button click with referencing software. Ruby! Have you thought about trying a reference manager? I’m doing a MSc in Marine Biology but use Zotero to help with references when writing reports and essays. It can make mistakes sometimes but I’ve found it saves me a lot of time when doing my references and may be useful for you to try as well!
Writing references can be a nuisance because you have to be very precise in what you are doing. When I did my MA in Classical Studies at the Open University, I had to use the 'OU Harvard Guide to Citing References'.
Ruby if you don’t already you should use a reference manager because all you need to do is insert the in-text citation which takes like 20 seconds and the bibliography will be automatically written and formatted for you. I use endnote. Sorry if you already use one it just sounded like you were trying to do it manually from what you said in the video.
Hi Ruby, could I give you (and any other students here) a tip for referencing? What helped me as a student was to type out the entries for my reference list while I was writing my essays. In other words, I wrote the listed entries as and when I used and referenced my sources in-text. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it saved me loads of time in the end as all you really have to do is place the list you now have in alphabetical order. There's also less chance of missing any sources used. Thought it may just work for you too 🙂
Could you do a video where you show us your school? Like a virtual visit for those who aren't as lucky as you ;) I'm so curious I want to know how the school looks like 🤍
Well done, I'm sure I'm not the first person to suggest it, but have you tried using a referencing manager? They help you to include your citations when you are typing and create your reference list for you.
Hey - do you use Referencing in Mircosoft word? I used it all throughout my degree and it does all the in-text reference list automatically. You just have to insert the references using the tool so you have to input like the name, date, author, etc... and then it will automatically create a reference list then can be inserted after your report/essay. It saved me heaps of time but I'd often have like a crazy amount of references.
This is super random lol, but could you put a note whenever you show a new candle or scented product like a perfume, describing the scent? I’m always curious about those things for some reason
Ms Ruby my you age is same .i,m in last year in btech in punjab unit. I,m see you last 7 year's and happy new year for advance. Because my exam start for tomorrow
Your videos are so inspirational, seriously thank you for them❤ I also just finished lisiting references and oh my am I relieved lol... By the way, I would absolutely love if you posted a lookbook video at Oxford! You seem to have a unique and beautiful style
Do you not use a reference program? I use EndNote - just add it to your library then you can cite as you write. You’ll def need something for your dissertation but is useful for shorter articles & papers as well
Hiya Ruby! Thanks for sharing how stressful deadlines can be! I'm definitely feeling that stress too :,) I was just wondering if you were going to sell a year long planner this year? Thanks!

It takes a bit of getting used to, but it saved me loads of time in the end as all you really have to do is place the list you now have in alphabetical order. There's also less chance of missing any sources used. Thought it may just work for you too 🙂
Good luck with your essay Ruby! It must be a stressful time, so take it easy, you’ll smash it 💪
It was beautiful to see you reading a poem at the end, I enjoyed listening. Would like to see more of this! Happy Thursday Ruby!
10:43 is the perfect description of being a student haha ❤
I get honestly so excited when I see that youve posted a new video :)
I love listening to you read poetry!
Could you do a video where you show us your school? Like a virtual visit for those who aren't as lucky as you ;) I'm so curious I want to know how the school looks like 🤍
Hiya idk if you’ve got a video on this already, but I’d love a video on how you use your iPad for school!! x
You reignited my love for learning, Thank you for all the motivation xxxx
I always love your artistic style Ruby! It's very motivating and gives off a really nice vibe, so thank you for brightening my day in your video post!
I loved that poem. I’d like to read Mary Oliver-she seems to be everyone’s favorite (and for good reason)!
Rubyyy!!!! I am so glad to see you're doing well! It's such inspiration ^^
Much ❤ to 🇬🇧 from 🇺🇦
Well done, I'm sure I'm not the first person to suggest it, but have you tried using a referencing manager? They help you to include your citations when you are typing and create your reference list for you.
Can you do your family home tour as a video? If you haven’t already 😊 looks amazing 😊
I watched Wonka the other day and when I saw the circular building you’re always showing made me think of you!
Iv got that calender I bought it from the bodliean library after the tour there it’s so pretty xxx
Love your content Ruby. Always motivating and inspiring ✨
Why not use a reference manager like Zotero? It really saved me at uni!
I sincerely hope your essay goes well, Ruby! ❤
Hi Ruby💖 Luv your vlogs💖 You inspire me and light up my lantern! I’m here for all you wonderful vlogs!
I love that sweater on you! It really compliments your skin tone ☺️
Ruby you are just too sweet. Thanks for posting.
Or get a literature plug-in like Zotero, I love that and use it to organise my papers but some people do not like those softwares
You need Zotero!!! Changed my life at uni doing my thesis references :)
My morning routine is watching ruby's video
This is super random lol, but could you put a note whenever you show a new candle or scented product like a perfume, describing the scent? I’m always curious about those things for some reason

Dale con todo Ruby..!!
Do you not use a reference program? I use EndNote - just add it to your library then you can cite as you write. You’ll def need something for your dissertation but is useful for shorter articles & papers as well
I love your sweater Ruby, so cute and cozy 😊
Hiya Ruby! Thanks for sharing how stressful deadlines can be! I'm definitely feeling that stress too :,) I was just wondering if you were going to sell a year long planner this year? Thanks!
