It's not the tools but the intent and creativity of the artist.

@@mynameistania I understand your position. I still feel that since it is here to stay ..work with it or not. There will still be creatives who cut through. Yes it will and has created an atmosphere where the opportunities for artists will be less. Yet I feel that artists can find a way to work with it that could aid in their creativity. Like anything else, technology has shifted the world in a way that will disrupt entire lives and industry.

@@THEZROHOUR fair point and I hope you're right and I'm wrong. I'd love to see and have my fingers crossed that new ways for creativity emerge from this. I still really enjoy the process of creating something myself and find a lot of joy in it and am reluctant to lose some or all of that. I will take your point though and keep an eye on and see what these new tools are about, I just can't help but feel like we're losing some of the magic of creating art.

Like it or not, AI is here to stay and will only continue to grow as part of our toolkit. My initial reaction was the same as yours. I've been in the creative world for 20 years now, and initially saw this as an affront to what we do. But its just another tool. Take the time to learn these tools and you'll discover that they offer you the ability to speed up the minutia, focus on concept, and bring higher qualities of production value to jobs that, in the past, were restricted by budget.

Anything with AI in it doesn’t mean the product is essentially bad, it’s just another tool. You have the option to not use the AI tool and do it yourself, like @TheSuperdantural said. I don’t have any Adobe apps, so I don’t know how far they’re taking their AI integration, but they should still have all the tools available for those who prefer to do it manually. It’s just a convenient way to make an image in seconds, you have to remember there are people out there who aren’t as crafty as you or me. It’s not wrong to use AI as a tool and it doesn’t make you less of an artist if you use it, even I have used AI images as references, prompts whenever I get art block, or backgrounds since I still struggle with drawing backgrounds by scratch. The way I see it, the problem isn’t in AI itself, the problem is that some people simply use AI to make a single image and claim it as their own. That’s something that bothers me as well but I don’t blame AI for that. It depends on how much you use AI in softwares like this: If you only use it for something you’re having trouble with on a project, then you just had assistance from AI which is completely fine; But if you solely have AI do everything without you doing anything apart from directing the AI, then you cheated unless you’re honest and admit you had AI make the image for you. Bottom line, AI isn’t your enemy, so don’t be discouraged; no matter how advanced an AI software becomes, it can never replace human experience and creativity.

RIP pattern artists. Why does Adobe seem dead set on destroying it's own user base that made them big in the first place? All to appeal to people with short attention spans that are too lazy to learn the necessary skills? What a shame to see Adobe losing it's way like this.

Why should you learn a skill when there is a more efficient way ? The true art of repetition never dies. When photoshop/illustrator came out everyone said art dies. Did it die ? No. Only the weak died out. Those who couldn't adapt.
