Love the reviews, but these guys need a few beers to loosen up a bit! LOL are they being forced to do these reviews? or are they trying to be too politically correct and remain extremely neutral mannered?
They are being qualitatively scientific, seriously giving their opinion. Useful, unenthused, and as relaxed as the most painful cocktail party you've ever been to.
What happened to the old bike bible!? Used to seem like a really cool trip you all did with some beers and bikes... now its obvious you just shot all these in a day. We miss the bald guy!
All of these videos are painful to watch. Reviewers should be enthusiastic as well as knowledgable, you guys look like you're about to fall asleep. BORING!!!!
More riding shots next year would make these less boring. I feel like your videos short change the riding in Marquette by showing the exact same roots in every video.
Agreed. The sound guy is making some newb mistakes and the editing of the sound track is way off. Pretty distracting for me, but I used to work as a sound guy back in the day so I may be hyper-critical. It's just not that hard to get three lavs mixed right on location to make editing a breeze.
So currently riding the jeffsy mk1 and have the new ‘q19 jeffsy on order (not arriving until May). But just ran across a HT LT 2018 with fox 36 and dhx2 on it. Same price. Do I go for the Hightower or stick to my new jeffsy purchase?
So a lot of your complaints about the Hightower last year have become strong points of the lt this year. Would these strong points hold up for the standard Hightower this year?
Maybe if your kids had a beer with Dad after a bike ride, they might learn a lesson you have handed down. But no you shelter them and they end up eating tide pods. Way to go roll model.
Jesse , I got the gray one and got a sticker package and anodized spacers and different lock-ons. Made it look a little better. I like the green one but I didn’t want to get what most people were buying.
I can attest that the VPP works really well on the Hightower LT. However, because of the short-ish reach, you have to work a bit harder to keep weight on the rear without lifting the front wheel. (A 60mm stem helped on my XL frame.)
The best bike out there by a country fucking mile is the new Orbea Rallon, these guys even stated that! I've ridden both the Tallboy and the Rallon and the Rallon is in another league
Brody Cross Again, that depends. I’ve ridden a Trek Slash 9.9, a Rock Mountain Slayer, a Santa Cruz Bronson, And an Evil Reckoning (I’m not sure it’s name, the long travel 29er by Evil) Even with all this, I’d take my Ragley Blue Pig steel hardtail over any of them any day. Unless it’s a gnarly downhill course or a race, it’s just more fun. The challenge and the feel of it makes riding way more fun for me. Going 30 mph through some roots and rocks on my Blue Pig? Hell yeah! It’s a blast. On any of the full sus bikes, it makes it too easy. If I was focused on going as fast as possible, I’d definitely go for one of those other bikes, but mountain biking is about having fun!
It's a great bike for $6,500 - $7,000, not for $8,000. There are plenty of other choices out there that are just as good or better for less money. Prices are creeping closer and closer to 5 figures and nobody is blinking an eye. As long as people are willing to blindly pay so much more for so little improvement then we'll get to that 5 figure mark in no time.
I have already been one one for some time now and let me tell you, this bike in the rocky terrain of North Jersey and Upstate New York truly kills it! I get tons of compliments and Ride better than I ever have.
The hightower lt was a big disappointment for me when I rode one. It is a bit of a one hit wonder it goes down hills ok but everywhere else it is mediocre. It is ok until you want to put a bit of power in where upon it transforms into a bobbing energy absorbing monster. If you just go at sedate pace on the flat and up hills then it is not as noticeable. If you put a bigger chainring on because you have enough power to push taller gears then that makes it even worse. Santa Cruz even admitted in an interview that it was only ever a stop gap measure to give their team riders a bike with more travel and it shows. They dropped the hightower lt model as soon as they could, it is pretty bad.
I have a Hightower and love it but why does standing in front of beer have to be part of a bike review. I think it sends the wrong message to youngsters. Bad...
It definitely goes with mtb. But so does golf, fishing, hiking, football watching, eating dinner. It goes with everything including alcoholism. This still doesn't make it ok. My opinion. Thx.
Really, Since when does a youngster read reviews on an 7 or 8 thousand dollar bike? WTF are you taking about alcoholism for? Mountain bikers promote fitness, fun and working our asses off to be able to have a sweet craft beer or 2 after the ride enjoying friends talking about the day and talking about new adventures. You really need to go nitpick somewhere else. Plus like minded brewer's sponsor Mountain biking events. Kids see beer ads every weekend watching football, settle the fuck down.
I disagree with the OP. SC actually makes probably the very best entry point full suspension carbon frame bike on the market. Go to Competitive Cyclist and look at the low end Hightower. Full carbon bike for under 4k. No one else offers that except direct to consumer brands like YT
Barnaby Bourbon = Broke. Work harder & smarter and save your buck$ instead of buying dope so you can afford a quality bike like Santa Cruz, then you can ride one instead of hating on what you can't afford.
great information presented with the charisma of damp toilet paper
They should have the bike right in front of them instead of switching back and forth from the interview to "studio" shots of the bike.
this is the most awkward sounding review ever......not good people

*Just an awesome **Latest.Bike** ....well constructed, sturdy, great looking…got me back out on the trails!! Could not be happier!!*
Please get some guys with some enthusiasm
They are writers. I'd suggest not watching if it's not to your liking.
No. These guys are making logical points, and providing an accurate review. Otherwise, we would end up with "This is rad. That's all."
Agreed, get people that enjoy mountain biking.
How dare he express his opinion! I don't disagree with him. These guys need some coffee or something.
They do seem a bit tranquil(ized) lol.
Whe are you gona make a review on the specialized stump jumper 2019
Just when I was running out of new MTB UA-cam vids to watch...this happens! Thank you!
These three are like cycle detectives reporting a bike mystery, that they look adamantly in giving a verdict....
These reviews are garbage. Cool guys with hats talk a lot and say nothing. Remind me of valley girls, so sure.
What happened to the old bike bible!? Used to seem like a really cool trip you all did with some beers and bikes... now its obvious you just shot all these in a day. We miss the bald guy!
James Mercer Vernon Felton is now with Pinkbike.com. check him out there, and yes, we miss Vernon big time
@@shyde2078 Oh, I thought he was talking about Mike Ferrentino
All of these videos are painful to watch. Reviewers should be enthusiastic as well as knowledgable, you guys look like you're about to fall asleep. BORING!!!!
They're offering astute information for those patient enough to listen, They're not here to entertain you - that's the bike's job
More riding shots next year would make these less boring. I feel like your videos short change the riding in Marquette by showing the exact same roots in every video.
Thanks for the reviews BikeMag. Would you please share your long test opinion on the HTLT?
please fire your sound guy.... immediately... please :(
What if he has a family? Maybe just take some night classes, and improve.
Your mom takes night classes. BOOM!
Seriously, sound is better than last couple years. It's not supposed to be a Michael bay movie. Good job guys.
Not a big ASMR fan are ye

Can i ask what kind of green is it?
baby shit
Hi Santa cruz size L good for me ? I have 176 cm of high
Nice trip!
Santa Cruz couldn't have choose any uglier colors this year. Their entire line looks like puke.
Jesse , I got the gray one and got a sticker package and anodized spacers and different lock-ons. Made it look a little better. I like the green one but I didn’t want to get what most people were buying.
Thanks, been waiting on your review of this!
Great bike. A suggestion, you may want to start looking at the camera and not at each other...
I've got to find one of these supposedly good climbing VPP bikes. The two VPP bikes I've ridden climbed like garbage. Bob-bob-bob, even in pedal mode.
I can attest that the VPP works really well on the Hightower LT. However, because of the short-ish reach, you have to work a bit harder to keep weight on the rear without lifting the front wheel. (A 60mm stem helped on my XL frame.)
I've found my VPP bikes to be the best climbers I've ridden.
NoBrakes23 , not this one.
That means you needed more air in your shock. VPP climb great! Set it up right.
When you're done speaking, place your hands in your pockets.
It's an $8,000 bike with no engine! The kind of logical fact missing from the Bible!
$8000 is overkill for a bike
Best bike out there right now
No it isnt
That’s an opinion.
The best bike out there by a country fucking mile is the new Orbea Rallon, these guys even stated that! I've ridden both the Tallboy and the Rallon and the Rallon is in another league

pretty much unwatchable due to the sound come on simple things😩😩😩
I think you guys should get some kind of award for running this series, i absolutely love it!
..forget the bike...look at all that beer behind them!!.......
this years videos werent that great sadly

Show the bike more than your faces. Ktnxbye
I have a Hightower and love it but why does standing in front of beer have to be part of a bike review. I think it sends the wrong message to youngsters. Bad...
It's sending the message that mountain biking and beer go well together. Is that the wrong message?
It definitely goes with mtb. But so does golf, fishing, hiking, football watching, eating dinner. It goes with everything including alcoholism. This still doesn't make it ok. My opinion. Thx.
Oh, I don't know, maybe because that brewery is a big supporter of the riding scene in Marquette?
I definitely understand what you're saying, but having some beer around is not anywhere near alcoholism.
