Excited about Icon!!! Can’t wait to get back onboard this year in our first post-pandemic cruise on Symphony of the Seas, our 2nd Oasis class ship after two amazing cruises on Allure. Saying that, Oasis class to smaller ships, Royal Caribbean have always delivered for us, that’s why we’re “loyal to Royal”.

I really like #5, Norwegian Viva. I like it so much that I didn’t even know I wanted to go on a cruise at all before seeing it. The go karts are awesome but it also just looks really relaxing
Just took a cruise Royal Caribbean...Vision of the Sea... Excellent!...When we docked in. Coco Bay Coy ... Oasis of the Seas also docked ... Spoke to people on that cruise ship... Most stated too big ... I feel small ships are a better experience...
I’ve been on oasis of the seas before and it was insane in terms of the experience and size of the ship so I can only imagine what icon of the seas is gonna be like. Currently me and a group of 11 others are set to sail odyssey of the seas in 41 days and can’t wait for it!
@@rhysswimmingandgymnastics It was great, only complaints I have are that on deck 7 aft you cant cross sides so u have to go down 1 and then cross and go up one, and the staff at johnny rockets try to make you buy more food than you want, e.g they kept asking me if i want to get another coke, if i wanted to upgrade my fries, etc
I must correct you, mr Robert Andrew doesn’t sound amazing, he is really amazing, I have never met someone and talented as he is, I was able to make good money with his help
They should make replicate fixed land or sea bay locations of malls, hotel/resorts and water attractions in these boat forms. 80% of most of the classic cruise 🛳 rendering, have people on the interior or way from windows. Might was well simulate waves motion on land.
Been on all new ships since 2021. Sad that Icon won’t be out until 2024. Europa will be my first one to cruise on from that list. Can’t go wrong with Celebrity.
Its real amazing how these ships are able to float despite its heavy weight. Amazing engineering all around...im wondering how the plumbing system works tho
I saw the go kart track on the NCL Prima on the Miami port live cam. I could see the speedway track and go karts flying around and around and they had cool neon lights.
I’ve been on big ships and medium size ships ! Big ships are very appealing but I’m pretty I didn’t make it around many parts of the ship due to excessive walking but it also keeps you vast for days at sea. I like both

I enjoyed my time on Wonder of the Seas. I was on the maiden voyage but I constantly couldn’t help but think how much this would suck if there was another 1,000-2,000 people on the boat. Thankfully I think we were at 50% capacity because there were still a few Covid restrictions.
On a personal level - the smaller the ship the better the experience. And second, it's where the ship goes that counts. Otherwise, may as well just go to a fancy holiday resort . Or Disneyland.
I remember being on Carnival in 2016, I get that it was my first cruise ship (and that an expensive one), but I loved it. The Rollercoasters weren’t there as far as I remember
Just done 2 weeks on the MSC SEASCAPE from Miami very disappointed in rooms in staff and food it gets sad the same thing for two weeks entertainment was terrible it was like ground hog day on a ship same food same entertainment we ported at one place 3 times there own island it was only ok the first time lol the ship was beautiful but not enough staff for size and they struggled Wi-Fi cost me a fortune nearly $1000 for my family of 6 plus no supplements in paying restaurants they cost a fortune as well there’s more staff trying to sell you stuff then serving costumers rooms far to small for 4 people had to put cases outside on balcony that was miniature

Trust me. I've been on the Liberty of The Seas!! After 7days you'll find that you haven't seen half of what it offers!!! 😀 Soooo much to do and see and oh, so much to eat!!! They need to slow down on building bigger and bigger. A Cruise should be a Cruise ... away from the craziness of the city, leisure, peace...It's no longer a Cruise when you carry the city with you 🤔

We have always used just the stairs to movie around a cruise ship, but the Allure of the Seas just about did us in. 6,000 passengers and 2,200 crew is just too big to provide as good of service as cruise ships half its size.
The NCL Viva makes me wonder why more ships don’t have cantilevered decks. They wouldn’t be good for rooms or anything heavy, but a great way to increase walking area for passengers. The hull has to fit the Panama Canal, but what about things above?
I understand these illustrations are just representative of what these ships will look like. Where are all those 5,000+ passengers? I only see a few wandering around the ship. And since they are considered “Mega Ships,” how many ports will they be able to access? These ships look like they should appeal to young families. Will those families have the income to afford these new ships? On the several cruises we have been on, the majority of passengers tend to be older and retired. I cannot picture senior cruisers zooming through the water tubes, riding a surfboard or driving a go kart. I am unsure if these new ships will attract the demographic they are aiming for.
Just have to look at the Oasis class ships that have been already in use for the past decade. I guess Royal has decided that they want to go all in on families for these new ships.
Celebrity caters to adults. We cruised them earlier this year and was amazed at how uncrowded it was except during certain events and during disembarkation and reimbarkation. They do a great job at keeping the people spread throughout the ship so it doesn’t feel hectic.
The “swim up bar” is an old amenity that fell out of favor(there was one on carnival festivale….but it wasn’t used because of the danger of broken glass in the pool)
Matters not what outdoor parks are on the ship if it rains. If that ship is packed, you might as well just have delivery to your room. The inside of that ship will be packed tighter than Rockefeller Center on December 31…. Did one cruise (2000) on Carnival Destiny (BRAND NEW LINER) for our 15th Wedding Anniversary. From minute one, we couldn’t get to the dining room at the cruise onset because the line was so long and they were grossly unprepared for the masses, hallways were crowded each morning with the extra mattresses needed for the ‘buy 1 get 3 free’ summer sale we did not know they were having, rained every day so it was mobbed inside, vessel was so overbooked, they ran out of BUFFETT FOOD, we never got breakfast in the morning because they allowed tables to be ‘saved’ and closed the dining room a half hour after it opened, no room in shows because, again, people saved seats that never showed, kids were in the hot tubs all day and all night without supervision, kids running the hallways all night, one elevator out of service, and on the last night, an electrical fire in show arena, to which they never informed us, they just let aggravated people continue to wait in the hallway pushing each other to be the first in the show. I spent the entire time watching the TV to see how far we were away from home. If I could have, I would have swam home. NEVER EVER AGAIN Oh, the muster station gathering was quite interesting. 200-300 people all shoved into one small area to receive instructions. They said the lifeboats could handle a gross weight of ? lbs per vessel. I asked if that was Before or AFTER people engorged themselves on a weeks worth of buffets?? My husband moved over 2 people. 🤷🏻♀️😏
Lord! You write a negative (very) novel about a 23-year old cruise experience?? Try are different animals nowadays. We've been regular cruisers (2x per year) since the 80's. Even Carnival has improved dramatically. You need to try a short one now-you'd be shocked.
Its nice to see that cruise ships are becoming bigger and truly exciting with the amazing ameneties and activities they can offer. But despite of it all , it still boils down to overall safety of everyone onboard from passengers to crew., the demand of working hours of the crew, like hotel staff I can imagine is going to be very demanding just to satisfy the thousands of guest it will have. It might be nice to look at but the story of crew's real condition behind the glamour and smiles is one that many simply do not know. Like for instance at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic how many crewmembers on a cruise ship suffer from depression and anxiety? The reality of MENTAL HEALTH issues on this ships is one that says it all.
I aggree. I was a crew member on a cruise ship. Crew feel the pressure. If the ships get bigger. The company should at least double the crew staff. And look after them.

Thank goodness we gave up on Ocean Cruising in these hideous floating white tower blocks. River cruising is so much more relaxing only 150pax on board, small boats so they can moor in city and town centres, and not 1 hr bus drive away, no crowds, easy step off step on experience rather than the queuing for disembarkation on ocean liners. Less regimented as you walk or cycle around cutsie towns and cities, rather than getting bused or trained from a commercial oil tanker port to the nearest city.
Is really nice to see but when you go on one you can get anything is super expensive. I went on MSC ones I was with friends and by my self so was ok that at was expensive but now if I have to with a family I think about it 10 times because is a really expensive vacation to go on one .
Don't get too excited about Carnival! I just read that their total corporate debt has almost tripled in just the last 2 years! Unless they turn it around in 2023 they might not even be sailing by 2024. (Their debt soared from around $7-8 Billion to now around $29 Billion! I'm not so sure that is survivable, and with their stock price hovering around $8 per share, they are in trouble. ) I'm also not so sure that a new ship can save them.
I don’t understand how these behemoths could possibly handle a major storm at sea. Roller coasters, racetracks, 6 story slides that look like coiled sippy straws for kids😂. It’s just a gross display of how much we require to stay amused every minute of the day. I’m looking forward to some videos showing one of these floating amusement parks in a giant storm at sea.

The first two ships are hotels on the water. They are huge. I always wanted to go on the Royal Caribbean but, just so expensive. ❤️🥰🙏🏾👏🏽👏🏽

I found out that Icon Of The Seas has a sister ship called Star Of The Seas.

Although Icon of the Seas is undergoing sea trials in 2023, its first cruise won't be until January, 2024. And at a premium price, I might add.

Cantilevered decks would not fit into the locks
They would interfere with the walls of the locks and would also interfere with the mule tugs

As a retired merchant marine navigating officer, I would never board one this size - it’s a maritime disaster waiting to happen!

Thank goodness we gave up on Ocean Cruising in these hideous floating white tower blocks. River cruising is so much more relaxing only 150pax on board, small boats so they can moor in city and town centres, and not 1 hr bus drive away, no crowds, easy step off step on experience rather than the queuing for disembarkation on ocean liners. Less regimented as you walk or cycle around cutsie towns and cities, rather than getting bused or trained from a commercial oil tanker port to the nearest city.

Is really nice to see but when you go on one you can get anything is super expensive. I went on MSC ones I was with friends and by my self so was ok that at was expensive but now if I have to with a family I think about it 10 times because is a really expensive vacation to go on one .

Don't get too excited about Carnival! I just read that their total corporate debt has almost tripled in just the last 2 years! Unless they turn it around in 2023 they might not even be sailing by 2024. (Their debt soared from around $7-8 Billion to now around $29 Billion! I'm not so sure that is survivable, and with their stock price hovering around $8 per share, they are in trouble. ) I'm also not so sure that a new ship can save them.
I don’t understand how these behemoths could possibly handle a major storm at sea. Roller coasters, racetracks, 6 story slides that look like coiled sippy straws for kids😂. It’s just a gross display of how much we require to stay amused every minute of the day. I’m looking forward to some videos showing one of these floating amusement parks in a giant storm at sea.
