    I just found your channel, I did alterations for about 15 years, but quit of having a lousy vision, I had surgery and can see better now and am loving this. This is great inspiration

    Thank you for doing these hacks. It shows that these fixes can be done easier than I thought. My patches never look that good. Now I know to use a thinner needle and smaller stitches than I have been doing. I will use the skirt hack too. The sheer dress looked great. You are sweet to do a job in an hour. Tfs!

    I loved the humor and with all the Cosplay happening you may have to welcome Martians,and Venetians sooner than expected. When altering a neckline using elastic, where do you begin the sewing and how far can you sew, without changing the grainline. I know it's different for each garment, but perhaps you can suggest a few rules to use/remember. I have some tops I'd like to try this technique on. Thank you for all these great videos.

    I love your channel! I have learned so many new tips and tricks from you. I would love to share a tip that I was taught when doing a patch like you did in the linen trousers. Cut the patch as a rounded shape with your pinking sheers. Removing the corners help to make the patch less noticeable from the right side of the garment.

      @@DowntownTailoring Dindog22 is correct, your excellent results and attention to details are worth so much more than just any tailor. You are an excellent instructor and I am learning so much.

    • @DowntownTailoring
      @DowntownTailoring  3 роки тому

      I have to make a video about it. But, in the meantime, I can tell you that the best way to do it is by removing the cuff, opening it like a tube and then take in. Fold it again and sew it back to the jacket that you've already taken in too. I hope it makes sense. Cheers 🙂

    I think I like this elastic neckline fix better,. Yes it is easier, but I think it really looks better, maybe because the elastic is more fluid, it doesn't trap the fabric, or lock the fabric into one position, which if I had not seen on the first neckline fix, maybe it wouldn't have been noticeable, but on this elastic neckline fix, my eyes didn't sense something off. I hope this comment conveys my meaning. But as alway great job.

    • @DowntownTailoring
      @DowntownTailoring  3 роки тому +1

      Yes! I use the elastic each time I can. In the other case, the material was so thin that the elastic was going to be too noticeable. Cheers 🙂

    • @GG-ud1ib
      @GG-ud1ib 3 роки тому

      @@DowntownTailoring being large busted, I can really see the benefits in this method, yet I see your point about the other fabric. I wonder if elastic attached on the seam allowance would work on such fabric.

    • @DowntownTailoring
      @DowntownTailoring  3 роки тому

      Thanks 🥰 I asked the customer the same question and she explained to me that the nude color were even more noticeable and that's why she got a black bra. Today's industry does not cater very well to darker tones. Even my brown mesh aren't quite realistic 😕 This is something that for sure needs improvement. Cheers!
