What I love about this show is how they humanize the Clones. They were sadly never given enough time to have anything resembling character within the movies.
Tom Kane is amazing at voicing Yoda in this series, sadly he suffered a strock in 2020 and had an early retirement from voice acting, I hope he's doing well 🙏
What people love about The Clone Wars is how it not only fleshes out the Jedi and Clones (both in characterization and relations) but also expands upon what the Galaxy was like during the Prequel era, along with the Force. Which makes how the prequels end all the sadder.
Fun Fact: It is Implied that Lieutenant Thire *Later on Commander* (The clone who had the visors) Is in the prequels as well, more specifically one of the clones retrieving Anakin on Mustafar together with Palpetine.
Yoda is a absoblute treat in this series, all of his appearances are awesome! The best thing about TCW is how they just flesh out all the characters. Makes a rewatch of the prequels so much better, and sadder.
If the driods were people and we see Yoda doing his thing like he did with the droids, this show would not have aired😂 especially when he forced pulled the droids back into the tank and then the Droid on top of the tank😂
Glad we aren’t the only ones that think so 😀 we know they are dopey and probably the kid-esque part of the show some people don’t like but we love them 🤭🤗
Terrific fact: Battle droids are not mindless. They have actual feelings. Due to some financial shortcuts in their production, cheap programming and independency from command ships, almost all of the battle droids developed actual personalities at least to some degree, strating to have their own opinions on situations, questioning orders, becoming afraid of death, some of them even started to understand abstract concepts, such as beauty. Many tactial droids gone extreme at this, having god-complexes, sometimes kiling higher-ranking organic commanders, just because they were too stupid in droid "eyes", even tho most of the time tactical droids were the ones in the wrong, they just couldnt accept that. In fact, personality development became a serious problem for Separatists, as it caused a major efficiency drop in droid operations. This is basically the reason behind creating dedicated tactical droids, and supper tactical droids later, as order disobidience, lags and glitches became more and more problematic during the war. So when the droid screams before being decapitated by a jedi, it's actually afraid of dying, much like a regular person. Some droids faced jedi without showing resistance, knowing that it's useless to fight against them, basically accepting their death. And yes, this is the actual lore.
Yoda is awesome! I love him so much. I also love how the Jedi and Clones have so much mutual respect for each other. We have seen the Clones completely willing to die for their Jedi Generals, even in this episode when the clones told Yoda he should go and escape while they hold the droids off for as long as possible. And the Jedi are the same, we have seen so many Jedi risk their own lives for the sake of the clones and it's just so heartwarming.
7:45 Guys. can we please appreciate the brilliance of this being a scene in the first episode of this series to air? this right here is boiled down essence of what the series is about! and I love it. See, Yoda is amazing. he may seem a little loopy at times, but he is running laps around everyone, both literally and figuratively!
What's really cool about this episode is seeing more of Wado's race, the alien who owned Anakin and his mother in the movies, since they seem more honorable. Not to say Wado didn't go against his word, but the one we meet here seems way more likable, more trustworthy.
We can see why this was the original planned first episode. Show a beloved character being a badass. Introduce us to the Clones and humanize them. For sure one of the highlights of season 1 😀
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 yeah but imagine seeing this one first then the one where Jar Jar is distracting Gunray for the Republic where the King is trying to remain neutral. It's like, wait.. I thought he picked a side already.
Interesting that Commander Thire, the main clone in this episode, is the clone that becomes head of Palpatines Shock Troops. You see him in Episode 3. He's one of the clones next to Palpatine during his senate meeting and on Mustufar at the end
the VA for yoda is the same guy who does the opening narration! He also voices admiral yularen (the officer who was with anakin on the stealth ship a few episodes ago) and maybe others as well
I'm glad you guys are enjoying the early episodes/seasons of the clone wars. The first 2 seasons aren't viewed in the best light for most fans of star wars. There are definitely some episodes that aren't too entertaining but personally most of them are enjoyable if you aren't just looking for "action" sequences.
The sad thing about this episode is that one of the three clones that Yoda befriends in this episode, Rys, Jek and Thire (specifically Jek) was in Revenge of the Sith, and when order 66 was placed, two clones went to assassinate Yoda, but he decapitated both of them. One of those two clones was Jek, the other was Commander Gree, who served under Jedi Master Luminara Unduli
The Clone Troopers you see in this episode are apart of the Coruscant Guard a division of elite clone shock troopers organized to serve as a military police force and protect the Galactic Republic capital planet of Coruscant. These troopers would also accompany senator's mostly on diplomatic missions like we see in this episode. The Clones in this episode are Lieutenant Thire including shock troopers Jek and Rys. You first would've seen Shock Troopers in Revenge of the Sith (Clones who wore Red makings on their Phase 2 armour) they were the clones who found Anakin's burnt body and were seen in the senate looking for Yoda after his battle with the Emperor. You also saw Clone Troopers in the Clone Wars movie who came to Padmé Amidala rescue when she went to Jabba's uncle Ziro at his night club on Coruscant lead by Commander Fox. As you can see there's a lot of Clone divisions, legions, and companies all with their colours and markings something you don't see with Stormtroopers who were all white any personally from the solider was removed for a more uniform look throughout the ranks only way you could tell if a Stormtrooper was a higher rank is if they wore a pauldron the colour depending on the rank. unlike Clones the Stormtroopers could not customize their armour and many referred to each other by their TK number for example TK-421 instead of their actual name or nickname. On the topic of the episode overall this was the first episode of season 1 which as a whole isn't as good as Season 3 and beyond the last few episodes like the Clones training are from Season 3.
The only problem I got so far with this series (still catching up myself, actually on season 2 yet), is that it started being developed as a sequel to the 2D Clone Wars series, so many ideas and characters from that series came by to this one without introduction, but then Disney deemed it no-canon, so it got lost I don't know if they did retell the Ventress backstory, but if you guys want to know the real introduction to her, to the danger of Grievous, and mainly Anakin's growth from a Padawan to a Knight, you should watch that cartoon
Think it was smart. Beloved character. Show him being a badass. Get people to empathize with clones as well by having Yoda give them so much respect. This is a better first episode than the chronological one, but probably the only time when release order is better than chronological from what we’ve seen 🤗
We’ve seen all the movies at least once. More familiar with the first trilogy. Not so much the prequels or the latter ones. We’ve played Jedi Fallen Order. Watched Mandalorian and Obi Wan series. But we haven’t read any of the books or lore. And this is the first animated show we’ve checked out from them 🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 hm, I see. Toydarians are one of the few beings in the universe that are immune to the force the others being the Hutts. This is from eons of evolution on a very dangerous world and resisting a creature that preys on them that uses the force. The planet Toydaria actually falls in Hutt controlled space and are considered a slave species to the Hutts. The force only works on them if you target clothes or anything they wear to pull or push on. Toydarians might look fat and seem gluttonous but they are actually quite light for what you assume to be a heavy creature. Their bodies act like a natural blimp with the belly simply being a gas chamber that takes a certain gas and they control it's release to go up or go down. The gluttonous part is an evolutionary adaptation to the limited food on the planet and the predators trying to constantly eat them. If they can eat it quickly its fine but mostly their normal diet is fish and shellfish with some plant matter. everything about them is built for a world that is dangerous but the need to find food and eating quick so they don't end up as food. The monarchy is actually a giant sham as its just a puppet for the Hutts. The hutts installed the monarchy to keep an eye on the population and learn how to deal with the drug trade as Toydaria is a drug operation for a certain type of Mushroom that goes into the dangerous Glitterstim. but when combined with Ryloth's Ryl it becomes GlitterRyl a very potent drug that the Pyke syndicate distribute and use. yeah Toydaria is in a tough spot constantly with the republic on one side and the Hutts breathing down the other. Its really not a good place to be.
Yoda is the best Jedi there is, but he always seems sad. On a different note tho, he should’ve just kept Ventress’ lightsabers. Why hand the loaded guns back to the criminal???😭
You should definitely watch and play castlevenia lords of shadow and castlevenia lords of shadow 2 and Star Wars knights of the old republic and Star Wars knights of the old republic 2
Staunch followers of the Force are actually rather strong. Giving in to the Dark Side is like how in real life you give up to things like depression, emotions, failure, fear, etc. But those with real strength can resist that stuff, and continue fighting in spite of such weaknesses. It takes a lot more mental fortitude to be s Jedi than one would otherwise believe, you need to stare into your own emotional hell yourself and still be able to say you can continue to fight. Many Jedi fallen because they lacked that strength, even fewer can be pulled back after having fallen. Fewer still have never fallen to begin with

I think it is a bit jarring how differently they are treated given him w they are both portrayed
Ventress has one of the best story arcs in the series... One of many characters that are awesome
