The "I don't" line in this episode is iconic but i also really like when Echo asked Captain Rex "Permission to take point sir?" when they were trying to retake the base. And Rex just said "I'm always first kid" then proceeded to run in, headshot 3 commando droids and snap ones neck. God i love Rex, he is such a badass.
1:27 that is correct! George Lucas wanted the character models in his animated series to resemble carved wooden figurines, and that’s why everything is so angular in this show, as they were actual carved figures that were then remade in CGI animation.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 The success of the mission on Mygeeto was something of a revelation for the men of the 501st. Suddenly, we realized that the Jedi could be fooled. And if they could be fooled, they could be killed."
I do like how it makes the clones more individual with their personalities so you start to care what happens to them and you remember the names of recurring clone troopers. Shame that domino squad is technically down to 3 members now, Fives, Echo and 99.
"I'm not 'clone'. I'm Captain." He tapped his red pauldron meaningfully. "Captain Ordo, ARC en-one-one, Special Operations Brigade, Grand Army of the Republic. And you'll address me properly."
This is one of only two episodes out of the entire series to feature swearing. When the clones come out of the pipeline cover outside the base, a giant eel grabs Cutup, causing Hevy to fire at it. Once it disappears, Hevy exclaims "What the hell was that?!"
Good ol BX series commando droids. They are too expensive to use as infantry, but they are fantastic infiltration and special forces units. They are more mobile, heavier armored and have a more advanced AI than the regular B1 units.
This was the first of many episodes in which you'd follow the clones and hear their stories. Clone Wars did an excellent job of fleshing out all of them, and making it so that it was always the Jedi you were cheering for, but their soldiers too. Rex is also just one of the best characters in the whole franchise, period.
To answer your question about those commando droids, those droids are actually more expensive to make than regular droids. That’s why they were never actually mass produced, and we’re only made a couple of times every so often during the war.
1:29 It does look wooden, but that was a deliberate design choice. George Lucas took inspiration from classic 1960s puppet shows like Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlett, so he wanted the Clone Wars characters to look like painted marionettes, giving it a retro feel.
Grevious is by no means a bad commander. And while this series doesn't show it often enough, he's known as a Jedi killer for a reason. All of his lightsabers have come from jedi he has killed. But when it comes to his screen time he's ALWAYS fighting Jedi with plot armor lol, so of course he seems a bit incompetent sometimes. But in terms of a good commander (who's not force sensitive), you probably can't find better, so of course Dooku wouldn't kill him.
This episode made me and other people appreciate the clones in some ways more than the jedi, and the tragedy that they would be used in order 66 despite there indivuality
0:57 Man I am overly impressed you recognized 'The Message ' song. Grandmaster Mellie Mell and The Furious Five. Ice Cube and Diddy used the beat as well.

This all gets softened and touched up as the animation improves in season 3 onwards. This is the episode where the legend that is Rex was solidified. God he's a boss here.
Yeah the thing about the droids is the Battle Droids we are use to and are the grunts of the Separatists are very poorly made seeing as back in the first movie they needed a satellite transmission to be fully functional, but since that costs a heavy price and even a child could take out: using battery powered, single AI droids is cheaper with varying degrees of good to dumb droids. Now the more advanced droids like the shield ones or these assassin droids cost even more so they are built sparingly but used for bigger missions. That's why when we see them you know it's something big.
I love that this show gives the clones the spotlight just as much as the jedi. There are so many characters that are barely mentioned/shown in the movies or are show exclusive that have become fan favorites because the show gave them the time and arcs they needed to grow and this episode along with the rest of the Domino Squad arc is a great example of this. This episode is also a good example of how clones, though they have their own personalities, do pick up some of their traits from their respective jedi generals. Cody and Rex's relationship and dynamic is so similar to Obi-Wan and Anakin and that really shows in this episode.
I know is impressive of the clones in this episode but dont u think its kind of dumb that those Comando droids ended up losing the base to them...they meant to elite units
But it’s impressive because they were so highly outmatched. And it showcases not just Clones, but this particular unit and what makes them special 😊 If it was a regular drone unit against a rookie clone unit it wouldn’t have been as impressive
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 True but imagine if US Navy Seals a whole squadron wiped out by a bunch poorly trained militants.....kind of the same feeling like how Weiss got her ass kicked by a blade wielding White Fang of low ranking

Great line by Rex as well 😎🤟
All that's left of Domino Squad are Fives and Echo, Heavy went out in a Blaze of Glory with a great final line
Yeah Heavy will always be remembered for that line 😎🤟
And then those two went on to become some of the most prominent clones in the series.
If they are wondering where droidbait died, he was one of the 2 shot when the doors were breached
"You're exactly the kind of men I need in the 501st"
What every Clone Wars fan would love to be told
😊
It's sad to see Droidbait, Cutup, and Hevy die all in one episode
But Heavy went out with style at least 😎🤟

"Vader's Fist"

The voice performance of Dee Bradley Baker is what makes every clone different, he's that good.

"more advanced AI than the regular B1 units". And yet they fell for Rex's plan.
@@DinoCam1795 Well I didn't say that they would win any Nobel Prizes.
Being smarter than a B1 isn't exactly something to brag about, but it's true. The Commando Droids are too expensive to deploy in such large numbers.
Iconic episode. I remember watching this as a kid on Cartoon Network. Was surprised they kept in "The hell was that thing?!".

Clones become more than just soldiers 🙂
And it’s all thanks to Dee Bradley Baker

Rex: "IM always first kid."

Series writer Henry Gilroy came up with the nickname 'Shinies' for rookie troops wearing brand new armor
This episode played like 4 or 5 times on a row on Cartoon Network when it aired. Easily the most memorable episode.
Rip tbe fallen members of Domino Squad.
😔
Saw that thumbnail and immediately knew that was when the eel showed up 😂
Haha, you know this show well 😜
Careful inspection of the backgrounds in the ops section of the tracking station shows some Twi'lek model pinups photos on the work station walls
They let you get attached to them just to have them eaten by a giant eel.

Commando Droids are like Droideka... but meaner. Unlike most of CIS forces, these guys are the real deal. Fortunately so are Domino and the 501st.
