@@boogerman908emulation will only continue to get better over time, and copies are still readily available on ebay if you want original hardware, or you can always get a flashcart or repro instead for cheap

I think it’s worth noting that the virtual console was still an emulator (as is NSO). If you want the game as originally intended then you have to play with an original cartridge. Just play this on your pc or if you’ve got some extra cash get an analogue pocket
the most recent official system that can play GBA games natively is actually a New 3DS (XL) / New 2DS which is a good choice even if you need to rip the games to play them or having been lucky getting the Ambassador pack.
Fusion is available on Switch online but I wish there was an option to permanently purchase virtual titles given Nintendo's history of removing content/stores.
Great video! This was one of my favorites growing up with a GBA. I was never a big fan of the original NES Metroid, but Zero Mission was a great way to play it with all the quality of life improvements and extra content!
Obviously it's getting more expensive as time goes on, but I'm still a little surprised you didn't mention the Gameboy Player for GameCube. I bought Metroid Fusion not too long ago, and while I haven't completed the game, I've played it exclusively on the Gameboy player. I don't think I've stuck it in my GBA or DS once. No complaints about small or dim screens here.
I was actually not a huge fan of the original NES Metroid, so this game was a nice alternative, and I enjoyed playing through it. As a huge fan of Super, it was nice to see the original get a Super-like makeover. I also own an original copy of it, DS light, Gameboy Player for GC and I have it bought on the wiiU, so I'm good to go.
This was my second Metroid game after Fusion(I actually got into it when stuck in a hospital) Did you never try GameCube with the GBA Port? That was how pokemon Ruby/Sapphire were made to be used with that systems spinoffs and I presume you could use them easier than a GBA at this point.
I completely forgot about the GBA port adapter thing for GameCube until someone mentioned it in the comments, good idea. Looks like those are in limited supply on Ebay right now but I'd love to try this out, might be a good topic for another video to see how they hold up through that option today :D@@michaellane5381
I bought it on Wii U before the shop closed. We're literally talking about the previous generation of Nintendo home consoles. If you didn't buy a Wii U, it's kind of on you. It was a great console.
Metroid Prime and Fusion ftw, and I did really like Zero Mission, but I don't love the sneaking / being chased w/ alarms of the zero suit portion. I decided to fire up my gba and give them a play again and I really just love the Metroid series.
When listing systems you forgot playing it through the GBA player for the GameCube. Though they are currently expensive it is another option. Also, I think there is something to be said for experiencing games on the hardware they were made for. I know not everyone likes it though. Also, GBA mods for screens or even to make them hookup to modern TVs are not hard to come by.
@@crywolfplays GBA player is really nice. I got one back in the day when they were more reasonably priced. If you can load Swiss (Third-party software) you can make it even better too.
I’m looking forward to playing this game for the first time on NSO. I hope they release it until May 27th, when the game was released in Japan 20 years ago.
Just play it on the rg35xx h and don't be a slave to what cooperations tell you you are allowed and not allowed. They clearly don't care about their own history, so why are you so obedient.
Hand to god, Zero Mission is like half the reason I modded my 3DS. Good job Nintendo lmao. And yes, leaving Zero Mission stranded is a travesty, plain and simple. Some fans even feel it surpasses Super, and I'm inclined to agree honestly. Also anyone who thinks it changes too much from the original is a purist of the highest order lol. I'm talkin' Heisenberg's blue meth levels of purity.
how come no one can ever play? lmao You can buy a gba for cheap or an old gamecube with gba player and a copy of the game. On another note game porting is not as easy. There is a lot of licensing issues that you need to think about.
I actually think that Zero Mission is one of the most boring Metroid games in comparison to most other titles in the series. it's good, but its best aspect - the free roaming / slight sequence breaking is now outdated and got outmatched by Dread, and the Bosses are way too easy and simple.
huh weird, my cart still works on my IPS modded GBA. I must be a god! but yeah, nintendy could do with catching up to the last 20 years of philosophy on IP.
@@funnyxusername Samus Returns is very fantastic, but has its issues :) there are enough reasons to play it, since it has things no other Metroid games have!

This game was the definitive Metroid game on GBA (for me) and it's such a shame it gets overlooked consistently. I do hope we get it on modern hardware again some day, as it's such a gem.

Well its on NSO now😂
I downloaded five GBA games on my Wii U - one game per Franchise. And concerning Medroid I chose to download Zero Mission. Love it!

Just emulate it! It’s not illegal and no one is making or losing money. Until nintendo makes it purchasable (which they wont) you can emulate it.
Metroid Prime and Fusion ftw, and I did really like Zero Mission, but I don't love the sneaking / being chased w/ alarms of the zero suit portion. I decided to fire up my gba and give them a play again and I really just love the Metroid series.
Just download a rom and emulator, Nintendo doesn't make easy to buy and play legally so fuck em
It's insane he's acting like emulation is bad. Or, just buy a GBA.
Played this so many times as a kid.
Big Metroid fan. Glad I still have all my GBA Metroid games, lost Metroid pinball on DS sadly. Wish that’d come back.
