Toyota sells a “ kit” to clean the evaporator smell. It’s DIYer friendly. The fuel pipe issue….. Toyota issued a warranty extension on this part ( I put my letter in the glove box ) IF!!! You smell gas from the interior or from the engine area contact a Toyota Dealership about the warranty extension on that issue. I believe it’s good for 10 years from purchase unlimited mileage. The struts are sensitive but let me tell you 2 other possibilities. The rear hatch beeps but won’t open? Check ( on the 2017-2019 Highlander if the rear glass is properly ( fully ) closed. It could look closed but if it’s not the rear hatch won’t open. Pull on the little handle for the rear hatch. If it opens without pushing the small black rubber rear glass button just close the glass again and a little more firmly but not too hard. The other thing that could affect the rear hatch causing it to beep but not open is inside the glove box area. On the left side of the plastic frame that 5he glove box opens and closes into is a small black button. If 5hat button has been accidentally pushed in the rear hatch won’t open. After the ToyotaDealership told me my struts were buggered and would cost around $1000 to replace I did an extensive search on UA-cam and after none of the videos mentioned this button, I found a guy named TrackPalmer who had a video on 4 possible causes. BINGO!!! I had accidentally pushed that button while changing the cabin air filter.
I have a 2016 Toyota Highlander 2016 xle all wheel drive , only problems I had was the alternator,& nothing else, it’s a great car have 100,000 miles and still thicking no problems at all. Peace.
I haven't faced any major mechanical issues yet, except the struts on the tailgate malfunctioning, interior LED lights on the door panel and dashboard flickering and the rear left's break light not glowing. I got the struts replaced and it was expensive, and the interior lights will be replaced soon. For the taillight, I just got the bulb replaced for like a buck or two, can't remember.
The sad part is 1a auto does not have a single solution for any of the top five problems on the most popular SUV on the planet! I thought at least you could sell us a foam kit that can be injected into the little black box to eliminate the bacteria? But nope.. come on guys this video could’ve been done a lot better! It doesn’t measure up to your other videos.
What about the front timing cover oil leak? Watch the Car Care Nut channel for the full info on these model years. He didn’t mention anything about head bolts.
I don't know if you ever do any cosmetic repair for automobiles, but I have come a long way watching your repair info for my 2002 Toyota Sequoia. But things like plastic window liners or other plastic parts are getting brittle and cracking off. Like - it is now silver but was black plastic that is pealing off where the window slides into the door. I was going to get some rubber paint and use that but not sure if I am going to mess it all up. Don't know what to call the parts to even try to order anything. I have replaced door handles and a few other interior parts. Now have all the tools to take off the interior door. Do you think I should just go with the rubber paint or is there some other way to refurbish the failing plastic? No place here to send pictures.
LOL - 3 out of 5 issues... mold, tailgate and infotainment system mention here are happening on my vehicle. You can get rid of the mold smell by pumping evap cleaner into the drain hose underneath your car. Tailgate reset normally will do the trick but other times when someone close the door with things obstructing the door in the trunk causes the hinch to warp so you're SOL. Infotainment fix by downloading Toyota Entune and running firmware update. I own others different Japanese car not luxury and I have to say the only 1 that last and doesn't give you many problems is Toyota. Honda don't even come close and stay away from Nissan & Mitsubishi and last is Mazda.
I have a 2015. The problem I've always had is water collecting in the driver's side window. I drive in the rain. Park in the garage. 23 hours later I can roll the window down, then up and it is all wet and the area.smells like mold.
What I really want to know is how often does it happen? Seems like he’s a little too excited to talk about the things that are wrong. He must be anti-Toyota but what I really wanna know is what car or truck today or SUV doesn’t have some kind of problem?
So knock on wood our 2014 V6 AWD has 152k miles on it. Been quite reliable over the years. The sunroof motor went straight 106k, and just about to replace the liftgate motors tomorrow, replace the struts for the glass last week...that's it
New engine ?what is Toyotas responsibility to this- Isn't their a recall for all these things?- If not I hope buyers are suing Toyota- these are dangerous safety problems to consumers

These damn things are just not built like the 2001-2007 models. I drive a 2005 and it will probably go to 347,000 miles with no problems. kaizen. This is what happens when you get to big for your britches and want to reinvent the wheel.
New engine?? It can't be apparently Toyota is indestructible 😂😂 Toyotas quality has gone down hill just like all other manufacturers, people just love to praise Toyota because they used to make good cars

I have a 2016 Limited and it's been the best vehicle we've ever had. zero problems, 150K miles
The problem ... they started making these cars in Indiana. The quality was far better when they were made in Japan.

The head bolt issue , is it on the V6 or 4cyl??

Why can't you add a heli coil to the engine when the steal bolt strips the threads?
After watching all of these videos just buy what you like they all have issues

Did every year have the same issues thought or did they fix any of them from 2014 to 2019?

+J J Cobra Thanks for the tip! We'll pass this info along to our production team.
Got a 15 with 155k on it. Never had one check engine light or had to do one repair
Is 4 cyl or 6 cyl engine?
Great my 2015 highlander never had an issue I bet after watching this video she may get some cute ideas ...
You might want to add leaking timing chain cover. Engine needs to be removed. Dealer quoted $5500 to reseal the cover of the 2017 Highlander.
What about the front timing cover oil leak? Watch the Car Care Nut channel for the full info on these model years. He didn’t mention anything about head bolts.
Can you help me my Nissan Pathfinder 2006 ain't starting it's making a noise when I crank it but won't start please reply to me when you see this
