- Decoration time again :)
This video will show you my attempt of pouring acrylics over glass vases to create unique and cool decorative effects for flowers or plants. In my case it was meant for my orchids.
It was great fun and worked pretty nicely!!

I just started acrylic pouring and am amazed at all the different methods used. This will be my next try. I like listening to your voice as you explain what you’re doing. It makes it that much more interesting.
Michelle Pereira thank you so much and I wish you so so much fun on your journey :) if you need some more background details you can search for mklgrm pouring basics :) it is a long video explaining all the ..basics 😅
How did I miss this!!! Beautiful vases❣️❣️❣️❣️🤗😘🥰
I am glad I found you! I've been trying to find someone not obsessed with cells. I don't always like the. Well, usually don't. Your pieces are amazing!
Danke!
Bitte :)) and glad you liked my videos :) I used to want cells in my beginning pieces - as back then this kind of defined success...but since about half a year or longer I so much fell in love with the ring pour and design that one can achieve with them without any cell at all. If you look up 'mklgrm cup tool' you will find a couple of them :)
These are really pretty. I love your orchids. They are not easy to grow. You have so many talents! Glad to hear that you have the commissions . Keep up the creative work.
Marylou Farnsworth I will and a new challenge for Myriam is coming soon. I am already working on it :)) and hope it will turn out as cool as it is in my mind :)
This was simply fabulous! When you were holding the vase and varnishing it I was swooning, ooohing and aaahing at how beautiful it was! What a wonderful project! Awesome job Michael!
Myriam's Nature thank you so much my love!! I first thought about challenging you with that pour but I came up with another idea ;)) soon...soon... :)) have to watch your videos the coming weekend. I am so much behind....wished my days had more hours and a month without sleep would help a lot 😅😅
I love your video on paint pouring. I've done a few items over CHRISTMAS, but could have been a bit thinner.
Those items you paint pour on never have 2 that look alike an no LOVE THAT.
thank you so much :)))
Thanks again. Had to watch video again. I LOVE'em an doing THEM.
Theresa Hitchcock thank you so much 😍😍😍
Oh how I envy your orchids. And these vases that you did were beautiful. Especially the gold and blue. Your orchids will be so happy or any flower for that matter. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for watching!!! Currently my Orchids are outside on our terrace over summer to get some direct sun :)
These are incredible! I love how you made each one different and it is so interesting how the color inside the vase is totally different from the outside! Thank you for sharing, your work with color is just fascinating!
My pleasure Joanne and I hope I was able to encourage you trying your own ;)))
Loved!!! Beautiful!!! You are one talented young man!!! Orchids are beautiful as well!!! You should be so proud of yourself!!!
Sue Falls thank you so much Sue!!! Sometimes such encouraging words are all an artists needs 😍😍😍😍😍😍
so beautiful. loved watching the colours running down the vases...they finished very well too the colours were magnificent
Thanks for watching Catherine and you should give it a try :))
Those turned out beautifully! I love the blue and gold.
Martha Wood also my favorites :)))
Thank you for sharing this information about Guardi, the liquid pour medium available in Germany. I am an American artist, visiting my son in Cologne and we tried a few pours with some teenagers and adults who wanted me to teach them how to do this, but out biggest problem was find Owatrol, or floetrol in his area. We settled on another product, but it didn't work so well. I'm glad to see you're beautiful cases! I can't wait to try this myself.
thanks Linda :) Well Floetrol can be find here on Amazon here but perhaps next time he can order some of the binder...It is much cheaper and works super great :))
They are all beautiful. Well done. Great ideas for gifts for my daughters-in-law.
they make awesome presents for sure :))
Great work....the blue, gold and white vase is stunning!
it is also my favorite Doug :))
They are beautiful , especially the blue and gold!
This is my first time watching this video. Nice one.
thank you :))
I look forward to your videos. You are not only a great artist but a wonderful teacher. Vases turned out great. I was cringing watching all that paint fall though.😀😯
thank you so much Julie, very much appreciated...I think I feel good with the teacher role. Way too many people keep too many 'secrets' to themselfes and I always felt the need to help...
Accidentally chanced upon your video and I love the way your vases turned out, especially the blue one. Thank you
I hope it was an happy accident and you want to have a look around a bit. These vases turned out pretty but I also have many more even cooler results here ;))
Every video I watch of yours I think this is the best! Then I watch the next one. But I really love the vases. Thank you so much from Canada.
Wendy Morton that was so cute Wendy!! Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️ feel free to leave wishes if you want me to try something you would like to see in a video :)
All vases are very beautiful! Thanks for sharing! ♥️♥️
Dianna Moore thanks for watching Dianna :)))))
Talented, looks AND you can grow orchids. WHATTTTTTTTTT?
a dude with many talents ;)
Wow!!! Absolutely stunning......I love watching your videos, your work is beautiful.
Thank you so much Christine!! Enjoy watching and hopefully getting inspired by them :)
Absolutely stunning result. Love them all but the blue and gold is my favourite🤗
mine too :)) and it was great fun :)
I enjoyed this very much and look forward to more of your videos.
❤️❤️❤️ the blue and gold vase!!
this one is also my favorite :)
Wow I always love watching you . You go into such great detail it helps a bunch I absolutely love all of them you did a wonderful job with yes I seen all those plants and you are correct we say in the US you definitely have a green thumb lol thanks again and have a wonderful day
Thank you so much and super glad you like my video-style :) definitely many more to come :))
Hi I just happened on your video and loved it! I've done many acrylic pours but never on vases! I look forward to looking back at all your videos! Thx! From California!
welcome Beth and hope you have found many more projects on my channel that you would like to try yourself :DDD
I love the vases. . The first 2 pours with the Yellow added with blue, I always feel that the two together give a muddy colour even with a pouring medium. I am inspired to try this at home with a very nice royal blue, cuboid vase I picked ujp in my local charity shop I think gold and bronze will look nice.To save on paint you could put the bigger vase on the table with the cooling rack on top and the smaller vase on top of that. As you pour the excess paint will run on to the vase underneath and because of the square holes in the rack you may get a nice pattern.
I usually scrape up the drip off paints and put them in a large yar and use it as a base layer paint for coming projects :))
I wish youo a great success for your pours :))
Wow, die Vasen sind toll geworden!
Danke dir Frauke!! ich denke ich mache davon auch noch ein paar mehr :D
They look very nice!! Turned out great! Good job!
These turned out really pretty Michael. Your orchids are beautiful and yes we do say "green thumb" here in the US. Have a great week!♡
Have a great week as well!!! Sorry for my late reply this time
Thank you for taking the time to share. Beautiful work and very inspiring!
My pleasure Rachel. Glad that this inspired you!! Plenty more pretty cool stuff on my channel which you are free to try out yourself :))
Very cool. They look like the Art Deco style from the 1920's. And, yes, in the U.S. Green Thumb means the same thing, someone who's great with plants.
Thanks Laura :)) This year I thought I do something cool for my orchids and put them out into nature (our terrace) but seems they catched more light the first days than I wanted so a couple of them got sunburns :( they are recovering already and getting stronger than before but they look a bit...messy....
MKL GRM Fine Art I hope they recover.
they will eventually....most of them are fine...just not that pretty anymore...but when it comes to November they will all bloom again and who looks at the leaves when they blossom :DD
All of the vases are lovely! Thank you for sharing this. :) And your orchids are stunning!
Thanks Aislinn!! I always loved plants since I was little and always was lucky growing them :)
This is fun and interesting. I will try this. Yours' turned out beautifully.
They look awesome, well done
Thanks Lonnie :)
I would have used a mat that the paint wouldn't stick to and make some acrylic skins. I like the results of your experiments. Your orchids are gorgeous.
Thank you so much :) Yeah I am really bad with acrylic skins...I usually put the drip off paint now into a large jar and reuse it for base layers
I appreciate your comments and discussion of the process! Thank u
thank you heather and glad you liked the video :)))
A great idea. I will be watching you from Maryland, USA.
Best regards to Maryland!! Excited. Patrick and I plan to visit the US for 3 week vacation next summer :)))
Beautiful vases. Thanks for sharing!
Debbie Bonner my pleasure :) feel free to give it a try :))
Beautiful Michael!! I can't wait to do some of these.
blustar30 show me your results :))
MKL GRM Fine Art I will 😊
Wow! Great explaination and I enjoyed you experimentation.
Fonda Sharkey-Wyatt glad you liked it Fonda :)) give it a try :))
MKL GRM Fine Art I'm planning on it!
Thank you, this is simply stunning! 💗Have been looking for a project for a gift idea and think that this would be just perfect!
this is ferrrrrrrrfect for a gift and offers endless options when it comes to the colors :)) Have much fun creating yours :)
Thankyou for the video I am going to have a go at painting vases myself, I'll be very happy if they turn out half as good as yours
Best of luck Kim :)) It was a cool project so I hope you have much fun pouring yours as well :))
Very informative. Thank you. 😊
Nice result. You might try arranging the vases one over the other. With that much paint, you could do several at the same time.
I tried that before filming but they did not really fit over each other being stable so I rather did not try to avoid having them fall over and breakting and splattering everything with the paint....gosh that would have made a mess O.o
These turned out beautifully 😀
agreed...still had no motivation to re-plant my orchids though ^^
It is truly beautiful. Can't wait to see more!
stefne du preez need to get more vases first 😅 good chance trying to be less excessive with the amount of paints 😛
as always I love your work and the time you take to share with all of us.
Just a comment I have tried many painting techniques on glass and when I tried an acrylic pour I first spray painted with a paint that would stick to glass - I was afraid of the adhesion of the pour - it worked well but it may have worked without it.
thanks so much!! I also was a bit afraid of it..:When I did my xmas baubles much of the paint dripped of but luckily this time a solid layer sticked (stuck??) to the glass and it worked out :)
Thank you from France, wonderful 😊😊
Patricia White merci pour regarder mon video ❤️❤️ hopefully that was somewhat correct ❤️😅
MKL GRM Fine Art parfait...
So beautiful! And great video 🌸
and really a good thing for a gift...a sweet "surrounding" for a bunch of flowers :))
I love this video and your work! Going to look at your others! thank you for sharing
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Lilli and have much fun watching through my videos :))
As I have said before, I love all of your work. This video was very, very informative. Lots of good and valuable information. Thank you so much. I have all my vases lined up and ready to go!! By the way, the company that makes that paint conditioner does have a web site. I just checked and you can have it translated into English. I have to go look to see if they will ship to USA. Don't be gone too long! I look for your videos every day! Love the orchids!!!
Linda Johnston oh i would love if they ship to the US so fingers crossed and let me know if they do. I just ordered some more of the binder today :)
Also show me your results on Instagram or Facebook :) really curious about the results :))
I'll let you know what I d]find out about the company policies and cost if they ship. If my vases turn out as well as yours, I will share! If not, well....no promises! lol And, yes, in English we say "Green thumb"!!
Linda Johnston pretty sure you will have great results as well. Just keep the paints rather thick and be more patient than I am waiting for the colors to run down the vases 😅😅😅
I’ve done this inside vases and glass Christmas balls. But then the vases can’t be used with fresh flowers. I love this technique!
So far I only did it from the outside but looking inside those vases also looks kind of cool. Like a black hole :D
Beautiful! 👌👌
Thank you so much for your advice. I will look for the acrylic binder here. Cheers, M
Marie Hocking it can be any acrylic binder. Unlikely that you will get the one I have here in Germany but just look for some :)
Beautiful vases. I've been pouring over a variety of Glassware for quite some time, and I've found that the best way to pour on glass is to not add water to my paint mixture at all. Only acrylic paint and floetrol. The thicker the paint, the better it adheres to the glass and the less it will run.
I titally agree. Some also said they put some layers gesso on first to have something for the paint to grib on...I have a couple smaller ones here so I think another video will come at some time soon ;)
SO BEAUTIFUL FEEL LIKE BUYING VASES AND TRY THIS
good luck and much fun :))
Really beautiful
thank you Leila, seems you made a video marathon today?! :)
Yes, you work is so beautiful 💕
Very interesting - thanks!
Very pretty
Love the vases. The blue vase looked like shooting stars . . . I'm a hopeless romantic. lol
me too :)) and the blue one is also my fav from those...the white/pink one was already sold to a friend :)
Beautiful, you can add a plate or platter to catch excess paint and design a paint flow.
I did catch the drip-off but the colors did not look pretty anymore so it was not really worth pouring with it. I mixed them together, added some black and so I had a new black color for the next projets :)
I love these beautiful love the colours ❤️👍 Australia xx
Loved watching you do your vases. The colours were lovely. I have done several and given them as gifts. I usually buy them from second hand shops. Watching Mixed Media Girl do some too has given me tips, like using a canvas under the vase to catch the paint and make unusual designs. She also uses a plastic cup under the vase to elevate it plus blows the top with a straw to remove the paint sitting there. I feel so lucky to have all you talented artists share your various techniques. Only problem here in Australia is the good paints, resin and Floetrol are hideously expensive. I stopped keeping track of my spending whenI reached $400. 😠😠Cheers Marie ‘downunder ‘
Thanks so much but as an advise...look for alternatives. I also started with the floetrol and here 2.5liters are about 40 EUR which is really much and so I started looking around and half a year ago I came across a super cool acrylic binder which I used ever since. There 5 liters cost me 37 EUR and it is way thicker then the floetrol so I can even thin it down to 7 liters, which is super awesome. besides that the paint stays way more stable when drying....I love it. It is also linked in my newer videos, it is called guardi binder.
When it comes to color I also only use cheaper paints. The liter bottle from Artina, wich I use, is about 8 EUR and 15 for metallics. This is pretty decent and lasts a long way. So...see if you can find some acrylic binder yourself in the craft of hobby markets and give it a try :)
Lovely vases. You can put two 5 x 7 canvases under the vases. It will catch your extra paint & you'll have ready made canvases. Thank you. California says hi.
I tried that once and it totally failed my sense of design in these pours. I do collect my drip off paints in a separate jar as base layer paint now :)
Michael have you tried owetrol floetrol as in the UK it's much cheaper than the flood version. I use it and get excellent results. No cracking when mix is slightly thicker. Have used 50/50 with paint and also 70 medium/30 paint. By the way in England someone good at growing plants is green fingered. Love your videos.
Thanks Gayle!! I had checked that owetrol as well but currently my acrylic binder that I use is still cheaper. I get 5 liters at 38 EUR which is really good :))) And it works just awesome. When dry it already looks like varnished although it is not...awesome stuff :))
I did not have it for this video yet but for my newer ones from the last 2 months or so.
I make extra paint and put vase on a bottle and 4 tiles under it. So I have a vase and 4 tile coasters to match.
Love it!!!!!
These are really nice. I saw someone do a big vase and put a canvas at the bottom to catch the paint running off. Then she moved the vase to the side and lifted the canvas and moved it until the paint spread all over it so there were 2 projects in one. Maybe you could do that too.
I usually do not like the look of the drip off paint and therefore never felt the need to give it a try. I couple months ago I started collecting the drip off paints into a large jar with a lid and I use it as a base layer paint.
ua-cam.com/video/f-Ur3IDMQig/v-deo.html scroll past the vase and you can see how beautiful the canvas is.
they are all beautiful
THank you Cynda!!!!
Gorgeous!
Thank you Evelyne :)
Awesome!
Thanks for this amazing vase colours. Can we use these colours on colouring glass playes from the back. What about washing with water
it should work.
Washing with water is no problem but the water only should be in short contact with the pour itself to avoid peeing off. Best would be sealing everything with a layer of resin...
I've been wanting to try this, tfs. 👍👍👍👍👍
Try it Mimi, it was pretty fun!! And use less paints than me :DD
Beautiful, thanks. 👌🏻
thank you Deanne :)
Very pretty.
Thank you Carrie :)
Beautiful! So you just mix the acrylic colors only and just pour?
it is the color, some acrylic binder (pouring medium or PVA glue would also work) and some water.
Wow, tolle Idee!! 💚
Instead of standing the vases on the rack you could stand them on a canvas or board then you can tilt the board to cover with paint and you have a piece of artwork to match your vase. You will need to put them on something taller so you can move the vase by the stand and put them elsewhere to dry while you reuse the excess paint.
thank you Sherry. I thought about that as well but the drip off looked everything else than pretty.....so guess that would not have worked for me. Next time I will just use less paint. Well...I tell that each time to myself and ending uo using too much anyways :D
Thanks so much 💕🌸💐🦋
My first attempt really went wrong. After watching others, I was given the advice to wipe it alcohol before pouring it was magic.
well i think I will make a varnish foundation next time to get the paint something better to grab on than glass....
Love these.
MICHAEL THEY ARE SO COOL,
IF YOU HAVE A COMMISSION IM SURE WE ALL THINK THE WORLD OF YOU AND YOUR TALENT, AND YOU MUST HAVE OTHER THINGS TO DO. 💜C OF AUST.
always up for commissions :) those help pay for the paints and materials :D But even if there are none at times it is just a blessing making some videos for YT and connecting with you all :)
Love, love, love ❤️❤️❤️
THANKS!!!! :))
Very cool idea! When you showed your varnish technique was there already some varnish on the vase? My pours come out quite dull. Thanks for sharing.
Gail Lacey no there was not. That acrylic binder that I use makes it super shiny awesome already. The wing pour pictures from yesterday’s video in the end are also without any varnish
these are sooooo BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! 😄😄😄😄😄😄 💖💖💖💖💖💖
Gayla Roof thank you :)) I thought about selling them but shipping would be a too delegate thing I fear...:(( but st least my orchids will be happy 😅😅
MKL GRM Fine Art and xpensive!!! im SURE u have the happiest orchids in the world. love them, but the only thing i can grow are succulents!!! i have,a brown thumb for everthing else!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 💖💖💖 thanks for taking time out of ur busy day to reply. 😊 💖
Gayla Roof yeah gosh those shipping costs always make me sad. So many of my followers are from the US or somewhere overseas and that makes it just so expensive to ship artwork. I love being in Germany but sometimes I think I could already live from my arts if i were in the US...
MKL GRM Fine Art well, the foors always open!!! 😄😄😄😄 💖💖💖💖
i mean...the doors, always open!!!! 😂😂😂😂 💖💖
Could you please share your ratio and what kind of paint you use? How are you sealing the vase. Very pretty the viewers would like to know how you do this. Thanks Terri
FANTASTICAAA parabéns lindo demais.
wow, so lovely! what do you do with the open part of the vase at the lip on the open vases? I'm learning
I just added some varnish on the outside and the lip. If you want to be even more safe I would opt for resin as this seals it off better then a regular varnish does. Especially when it comes to waterproof :)
Very nice. Great idea. How does this hold up to cleaning the vases? Will it peel?
Marion Kachel thanks Marion :) have not tried it yet. I would not put it into the dish washer but with regular cleaning it should be fine especially when it is covered with some varnish layers :)
Can you show how your demonstrating on how to remove the paint from the edges of the vases nice & pretty ty
usually I just take a wooden stick or something like it and go around the edges a couple times while drawing. :)
Beautiful! Do you do anything special to the rim of the vase? Do you have to do anything to smooth it out? Also, does the liquitex gloss leave any brush marks? I've only started in August so I'm still learning. Thanks so much for any advice . I'm definitely going to go back and watch your videos. Your work is amazing
Hi Again Barbara :) normally with all my pours that I do I use a tooth pick or something like that and go around the edges after a couple minutes to get rid of the drip off nosed of the paint. So it dries less bumpier at the edges. The paint itself smoothens out on its own. The varnish can leave some brush marks yes. If you want to avoid that on vases you can use a spray varnish. They normally come for oil paintings but you can apply them as well on an acrylic artwork. Or use an oil painting varnish like Gamvar or such which you can brush paint over it. It was thin like water and takes longer to dry than the regular acrylic varnishes.
If you are new you can look out for my 'acrylic pouring basics video', there I tell all the should know stuff :)
Thank you so much.
Beautiful thx
Have you tried to prime the glass with a base coat before doping your pour? Maybe the paint would not run off so quickly!
perhaps...but have not tried that yet. I do have a couple small glasses left and will give that a try next time. thanks for the tipp :))
Hallo. I love the video. I been seeing a lot of people putting a canvas under the vases to catch the runoff and create a picture after. Did you put anything on it before you poured?
PS: All of them look amazing, and watching you makes me really wanna go for it 😍😍
give it a try :) Yeah I know but I dont like the muddy smudged look that this causes...I catch all the drip off paint in a big jar with a lid...and use it as underlayer paint for larger projects then.
Have you ever done something similar but did the pour on the inside of the vase?
nope not inside of a vase. It would not really last when water is filled in - it would just peel of over time. One could seal it with resin but...what a mess ^^
@@MKLGRMFineArt do you think the colors are as vibrant or show up the same when they are poured inside ?
The reason I'm asking, is because I want to do something similar on a 3 dimensional object, but the paint must be on the inside.
I've done a few tests and this proving to be difficult.
I loved very nice 😍
I forgot, orchids are my most favorite flower. Yours are very beautiful. But I have a brown thumb...eventually I kill it. So I just admire other people's.
most of the time I just let them be and do not so much with them...just some water every 2 weeks or so... ^^
