    (Hebrew slaves)
    Mud! Sand! Water! Straw!

    Faster!
    (Hebrew slaves)
Mud! And lift! Sand! And pull
    Water! And raise up! Straw!
    (Egyptian guards)
    Faster!
    (Hebrew slaves)
With the sting of the whip on my shoulder,
With the salt of my sweat on my brow.
    Elohim, God on high,
Can you hear your people cry?
Help us now, this dark hour.
    Deliver us. Hear our call.
Deliver us. Lord of all, remember us,
    Here in this burning sand.
    Deliver us.
There's a land you promised us.
Deliver us to the promised land.
    (Moses' mother)
ילדי הטוב והרך Yaldi ha'tov ve harach
אל תירא ואל תפחד Al tira ve al tifchad
My son, I have nothing I can give
But this chance that you may live.
    I pray we'll meet again,
    If He will deliver us.
    (Hebrew slaves)
    Hear our prayer.
    Deliver us from despair.
    These years of slavery grow
    Too cruel to stand.
    Deliver us.
There's a land you promised us.
Deliver us out of bondage and
Deliver us to the promised land
    (Moses' mother)
    Hush now, my baby
    Be still, love, don't cry.
Sleep as you're rocked by the stream.
Sleep and remember my last lullaby,
So I'll be with you when you dream.
River, o river, flow gently for me,
    Such precious cargo you bear.
Do you know somewhere he can live free?
    River, deliver him there.
    (Moses' sister)
    Brother, you're safe now
    And safe may you stay,
For I have a prayer just for you,
    Grow, baby brother,
    Come back someday.
    Come and deliver us too.
    (Hebrew slaves)
    Deliver us
Send a sheperd to sheperd us
And deliver us to the promised land.

His intonation wasn't perfect, with some notes conspicuously flat, and he cracked a harmonic shift in one place. He's not a legend LOL. THAT said, he has a VERY good tone, and his ability to play with such smoothness and tenderness on an instrument that does not easily sound that way IS impressive. In spite of its (to me) obvious flaws, I enjoyed his performance very much. I think he nailed the feeling perfectly, if not the technical details.

  • @ycchung
    @ycchung 3 роки тому +7194

This song actually could also mean a lot to us Taiwanese, since we all want to be delivered to the world without Beijing's oppression, and most importantly we want to build and get recognized of our own country without being threatened by totalitarian China just like the Jews.

    • @ycchung

@Half life 3 I don't speak for everyone, but the majority of us do consider ourselves simply just Taiwanese rather than Chinese or both. And yes, it's the CCP that see us as a part of its territory or a so called renegade province, which we strongly disagree with. Don't get me wrong, most of us do know that we are ethnically Han Chinese, but that doesn't mean we identify ourself as nationality Chinese, not to mention that our culture is such a huge melting pot of Chinese, Japanese, Southeast Asian and a bit of European.

    • @ycchung

@Lovely_Theaceae lol you're fine. Whats so funny is that we also depicted the communist as all vicious demons in our historic textbook back in my school time (especially that Mao bastard), so you are totally understandable too to have this image of all us Taiwanese are as bad as the propaganda which might have affected you. It's nice that you actually realize something different from what you've learned based on your past experience. If you have chance to pay a visit to this "sadistic" island, you will certainly notice that almost everyone here are against the image you've had. After all, we are all human beings in the end, despite our differences.

This sounds like what happened in the US, most Americans are of European descent with a lot from the UK but Americans see themselves as a separate people rather than an offshoot in another state. I hope Taiwan receives the recognition it deserves someday, preferably sooner rather than later. It’s one of the world’s most successful democracies on the doorstep of the world’s largest communist state bent on destroying it.

    • @LunDruid
      @LunDruid 3 роки тому +18

@Lovely_Theaceae You're absolutely not alone. Contrary to what most of us would like to admit, we get similar things here in America, too. Our political divide, especially nowadays, is because both sides are afraid that the other is seeking to set up a totalitarian regime to oppress the other side, and this is reflected in the media each side is fed. (Liberals are called communist, and conservatives are called fascist, even though neither side is either of these.) It's so hard to know what's real and what's just propaganda that I frequently find myself questioning my own values.
Funny enough, when I first learned about Mao, I completely misunderstood and thought he was basically just like our George Washington: a man rebelling against an evil king for the rights of the people. Shows what I know about history. T_T

Seems to me you and your kind have a particular grudge against frozen, which is hilarious to read, and no wonder a majority of people don't take you seriously.
Also you might want to rewatch frozen again if you think that the moral message it delivered was shallow and lacked any meaning. Even though I personally never loved it, i can truly appreciate the message it delivered along with its stunning animation.

@@alexanderhardianto253 For me, it's not the message but rather the weird character development that is Elsa is the problem. Her concept is too flawed especially in the let it go song since it is because of letting go results the following set of potentially gruesome consequences like idk, eternal winter, death of citizen in the kingdom? and after those moments she is fine already? and because of said one song she became one of the most likeable characters in which if one would think about it, she has no redeeming quality except "im sad i can't control power, anxiety induced, pretty girl who may or may not be lesbian that is already fine after a hug and an almost death of her sister in which she cause" in which shows her kinda shallow and the message not having an impact because let's be honest the reason why everyone like it is mostly the songs and the cutesy animation.

@@idkwhatswhat2382 I am seriously not in the mood to read all of that. Also I have moved on from frozen but I appreciate the movie overall. And I disagree with everything you said about Her being a shallow character and having no significant impact.
Like I said I appreciate the movie's message, songs, animation and theme even though Its not a personal favorite of mine. I do find elsa relatable since she decided to just let it all go ever since she was couped up and felt trap in her duty as a royal and the fact that she had to hide her abilities ever since she was a kid. That is like a stress relief for her. The character development and message from her was there. You just decided to go blank in the middle of the film for no reason. Go watch it again.
It also teaches a great lesson to kids on how even though a person might look and act genuinely kind to others, it can often be a mask that they are wearing to decieve people which serves as a great lesson for Anna as well.
In conclusion, frozen is a great movie then your kind makes it out to be. Comparing it with this movie just doesnt make sense because they both have unique messages and themes that can be learned by younger and older audiences. Fighting for freedom of religion and politics is something even the very young know about there, and the human desire to fight for freedom from oppression is remarkably universal, and truly a moving experience to observe, and I admire those who connect these aspects of life and communicate it thru music.
Also, as a brass player myself (trombone) that trumpet soloist, ( and the whole choir + orchestra really) is top tier and is performed with enough fire and heart to give any german, russian, uk, american or any other a run for their money in skill and performance talent.

I want to thank you so much for this incredible version of this beautiful song, it is such a joy to hear people from a different culture look into our culture and story and even do the Hebrew parts very well, thank you so much! @Beed_roonsun To be honest I am very non-religious, I personally believe that the beauty in the story of the Exodus (or in any mythology / history of a people) is the fact that the vast majority of Jews in the world tell and preserve it. On Passover, the story of the Exodus is told in a permanent and ancient version called the Haggadah, meaning of the word is to say or tell. The matter is the current common existence of an entire people, every year everywhere in the world for more than two thousand years it is told from father to son, in my eyes it does not matter if it happened or not, the ceremony and the holiday are the preservation of the common story. This is what makes us a people, not necessarily whether we left Egypt or not. And personally I think it's a great story.

People always ask why Prince of Egypt doesn’t have a Broadway adaptation and the answer is money.
It’s the same reason that the Hunchback of Notre Dame musical never ended up on Broadway, that amount of money for that large of choir is not some thing that investors are going to want to look into. Which is stupid. Because it would make them a lot of money.
    Because it would be amazing.

It’s more than a message about delivering people from bondage, much more than that. What brings a tear to my eye is the “my son I have nothing to give, except the chance that you may live”, at the same time she’s sacrificing her beautiful 3 month old baby boy to a river in the hopes that a God she does not know may save him and fulfill a promise she heard from her ancestors. It’s absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking. This song is about despair and faith in God above all else.
