Hart Springs is the only one I haven’t been to. Thanks for sharing this.

You’re welcome! We were there when it was off season so we were the only ones there. Made for a really tranquil experience. I’m sure it’s different in the summer!

We stayed at Hart Spring last year in early spring. We were the only campers in the tent area. That was really neat,

Tanasi Tim awesome! We were also the only tent campers there on our Suwannee Paddle trip (vids on my channel) because it was late fall. It was perfect!

Planning on reserving a campsite for Gilchrist in a few days as I am starting to reserve a site every 6 weeks since I will be camping often in the new RV. It seems it can take up to 6 months to reserve in any of the springs that has nice activities. I just reserved a site on rainbow river for a 4 day weekend and it took that long with advanced reservations. How long does it normally take you all? I am new to all this being retired young now.

A lot of the time we camp in the off season times. Also a lot of the time there are a certain number of “walk up” sites set aside and we will just show up. We will camp in the National Forest in the backcountry if there aren’t any sites with amenities. We are tent camping.

@@curtiswhitwam1 .. I am not sure if you know but Shell Key that you can only get to by vessel is a small island tent campers can camp on. It is operated by ft. DeSoto park in Pinellas. A person must register at ft DeSoto but it is free camping. I take my boat out there often but I see canoes every so often go there. It is like a private beach for boaters also on the weekend. That's if you ever wish to go there. But during sea turtle nesting periods, no camp fires are allowed. Other times of the year it is permitted.
