Funny story. Last night after filming this I went to bed, woke up with teh worst panic attack and almost went back to the ER. My aunt rushed over who is a RN and helped me out though.
Damn man. I work in healthcare (pulmonary) and can tell you that you got very lucky. BP like that can very easily end in a stroke or worse. The heart enzyme is troponin btw, not that it matters, but it’s one of the key markers of cardiac muscle damage as you said. Trying to get urgent pulmonary appointment and soonest is between March 30th and August......how is this urgent? The US healthcare system is broken beyond belief.
@@typer98 I was having chest pains and it took me to January to be able to see someone. This was in October lol. Thank GOD it turned out to be due to stress and not something worse. Wishing you luck!
You sir are lucky to be alive. Back on Feb 9, 2009 I had a hemorrhagic stroke at a LAN party caused by high blood pressure and diabetes. Your BP numbers was nearly the same as mine at the time of the stroke. I was in medical coma for 2 days and in the hospital for a month. Also 6 months of therapy just to learn to walk, talk, and memory therapy. Please continue with your doctor visits and staying healthy.
First of all, I'm SO relieved you went to the hospital. That clearly was important and I'm so thankful you did. Here on UA-cam, we content creators are like family or at least distant relatives, so even though I'm all the way over here in Norway, it's been scary to see something was up with your health. On the other hand, over here it's so different when it comes to hospital bills (we don't have the whole insurance or "saying no to an ambulance" because the country's tax money goes into that). You should get an insurance! Get well! Hope you're Ok man
Insurance is quite expensive and it does not even cover everything. You're in for a few thousands of dollars per year regardless. So when you're young, it might make sense to pray to the Gods of luck and go uninsured, hoping you will not have any issues. Of course when the proverbial sh*t hits the fan, you start to uncover the very dark side of America -- its profit-centered healthcare system, including the $2000 5min ambulance rides. I hope RGT85 can put all of this behind him and I dearly hope America can wake up from that self-inflicted nightmare. It is not socialism, it is common sense.
The intent is nice, but the US is a country where health insurance is private. Unless you have decent insurance (that costs a lot), it's unlikely to cover a hospital visit and you'll wind up covering most of it out of your own pocket, which most people can't afford. The average cost of an ambulance ride is around 1200 USD (11,800 NOK) and that's not including the charge per mile, or life support if one needs it. Yes, the US is such a filthy capitalist country that it will save your life and then charge you for it.
insurance in america is very expensive and often doesn't cover what one thinks it should. If you are relatively healthy and make good money you will be better off paying outright for services and negotiating with doctors for things like surgeries and procedures. You can pay $400 (american) for insurance each month and STILL have exorbitant medical bills because of things like deductibles and copays, denied or uncovered services and astronomical out of pocket maximums. We need universal healthcare in the worst way.
oh, and by the way, the more "middle class" you are, the larger the percentage of income required to keep yourself and your children healthy. The richer you get, the easier it gets, and the poorer you are, the more likely you are to have "state insurance" or government provided healthcare
240 over 190 is insanity. To put it in perspective, a normal blood pressure is like 120 over 80. That's a miracle you lived through that. I've dealt with high blood pressure issues in the last few years of my life but it only got up to like 180 over 115 or around that ballpark, and even then it threw my whole body out of wack. Glad you've got it all sorted out though and that you're still here man.
@@moochoman9948 well sometimes you can have problems and have no pain in the chest but other body parts like your ankles or back... Definitely a lucky guy
@@markdouglas9875 For me personally when my blood pressure starts acting up, I sweat a lot. And I mean a loooot. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, all I know is any time I start sweating for no reason, if I check my bp it's usually high. I'll also start shaking really bad. Haven't felt any pain from it thankfully.

I just can't imagine having a doctor telling you about serious medical issues and simultaneously having to worry about the financial implications. Hope you're doing better, stay strong.
Much love to you man. I had a heart attack last year due to genetic high cholesterol, only 31 years old. 5 kids. Wife. I never thought at 32 years old now that I would have such a close relationship with the thought of death, the thought of my kids mourning me. My heart has apparently bounced back but at times I feel like my heart is just not right. I really just pray for another 30 years, to see my kids age to where I am currently, I could die happy. But I have a real feeling that I only have maybe 5-10 years in me. Idk why I feel that way, my doctor says my heart looks amazing, I'm on praluent which dropped my cholesterol to amazing levels. Life is short, it's precious and I wish everyone nothing but the best.
Holy crap. Thats insane blood pressure and story. I also hate how our country has it where you’re literally about to die but you’re afraid to take an ambulance and stay over night and scared to pay for hospital bill. Glad you’re okay. I need a healthier diet myself and nicotine hard to quit
@@warrenwest407 lol. "Even with those issues." You know, the government advocating that you simply kill yourself as they can't keep up and treat everyone in a timely fashion under such a system. What a minor issue to have.
It sucks that you have to pay a hefty bill, but I’m glad you’re alive. I’ve been having some blood pressure issues lately, and have been exercising a lot more to help myself, so this story really hit me. Hope things get better for you
He has money, he needs to get insurance on his own and not funnel in into hobbies. Maybe paying 10000 in out of pocket for a near death experience will change his mind. Dude needs to get healthy and lose weight. So
@Scott Sims Yeah there's definitely no reason he shouldn't have health insurance. He for sure makes enough money! I guess he would just rather make his subs for sorry for him and hope they all donate to him. Very irresponsible. You're an adult, take care of yourself instead of expecting others to take care of you!
@@scottsims6127 an ER admission plus 2 night stay w the testing he described will probably be more like $50k+. Insurance does a couple of things…besides capping your annual out of pocket, you typically pay the negotiated rates for services which can be significantly less than retail. This guy openly brags about binge drinking, poor diet, reckless social behavior, and vapes / smokes while dumping all his money in games he will never play. Happy to hear you went to the Urgent Care and got the help you needed! I had a similar experience, 4 years ago, but mine resulted in quadruple bypass surgery 😮 When I woke up after surgery and saw the 12” vertical incision running down the center of my chest, it freaked me the “f” out, but somehow, I made it thru the discomfort and uncertainty, and today, with regular exercise (I walk 15-25 miles a week), I feel great and happy to be alive. Happy you are too, RGT!
I never comment on UA-cam videos, but after seeing your short and this I have to say something - glad you pulled through. I’m a huge fan, and I’m happy you’re still with us! Take good care of yourself man, looking forward to many more years of videos.

I had a friend recently have this happen to him, he didn't want to believe it at first but it was because of the CV-19 shot, he's now in legal litigation to sue for damages to pay his medical bills.
Hey man, first and foremost I’m glad you went and got looked at and you’re starting to feel better. As a EMT/paramedic of 15 years now, I have never seen a BP that high!! I think the highest I’ve ever seen was around 240 systolic (the top number), and I treat people that are literally dying or dead. Stay positive and I’m glad you’re alright!
Nearly passing away out of the blue and then having a panic attack after all that, that is a horrible thing to go through. It is great that your family was nearby so they could help you. I hope that you are doing well and are able to get back to feeling like yourself. I wish I could offer more than words of encouragement but I hope you are doing well. Also if you start a go fund me, then let's us know. I don't have much but I'll be sure to give whatever I can.
I feel like there's a lot more to this story that isn't being told or that is left out. Have you had any other prior medical conditions? What exactly caused this irregular heart attack? Has anything changed over the past months or years that could have influenced this? Have you taken any covid shots or boosters within the last months? I know many have had heart conditions since taking them and have had friends/family that had similar symptoms and incidents after they took the shots.
Look up what the most common cause of death was for decades even way before 2020. Americans have had awful history with cardiac health, the shots have nothing to do with it.
@@hidden3829 Yup, and a lot of them are afraid of telling the truth about what's happened to them. So it makes me wonder if this is yet another case of that. Starting to seem like it.
I mean, he said he smoked and vaped until he got to the hospital. That alone could do it, adding to that possibility of a bad diet/eating a lot of saturated fats
I think you just want it to be because of shots. It is well documented, if you have untreated high blood pressure for long periods of time you can end up in the exact situation he has described. This was even before covid as a thing.
I had a similar situation last year with something that could have killed me if my body didn't cry out for help. I was in the hospital for a few days and the bill was just under 100K. Had to make many life changes but what matters is we caught it in time and are still here. Feel better brotha!

@@demonology2629 this happened before I got the vaccine and was actually a factor in why I took mine as soon as it was available. The problem is I had a horrible diet due to really strong food aversions and it never affected me prior to covid because I was playing field hockey 3-5 times a week since I was 11. My metabolism was pretty much saving me up until covid happened and I couldn't train anymore.

As much as it sucks to have to dish out all the money for staying at a hospital and paying for tests, cant put a price on life. Glad that you pulled through and that you are back to doing videos. Take the time you need to look out for yourself because life is precious
US Healthcare system is the worst, unless you are rich or you serve in the Military to get socialized medicine. Sure the VA has its issues, but it's a thousand times better than what the rest of Americans have to deal with.
It’s amazing how people who work in medical have no idea how insurance works and when you suggest that this is going to be expensive they look at you like Huh?
Very glad you are okay, Shawn. You can negotiate those hospital bills down. Depending on the size of the bill, you can claim financial hardship and then negotiate a price with them. But going forward, because you have medications and doctor visits, getting a basic insurance plan is a must.
Yep, when the time comes it’ll be easy for him to pay just a percentage of what’s owed. Still sucks to go through the process but at least there’s help out there.
I just flat out dont pay it back. I go to the hospital maybe once a decade and they exist exclusively to make sure I dont die. About a quarter of the IRSs yearly $1.7 trillion income tax goes to hospitals and medical programs and I dont pay for something twice you see. If I go to the hospital I keep the mindset that its already paid for. They can send a bill, they can put it on my imaginary credit, but they will NEVER see that money. I urge more people to do the same, maybe itll make a change. As a hardworking tax payer you shouldnt be expected to pay for your health especially in a country that is obsessed with working you into an early grave. Health and education are the two things that shouldnt be ran like a business.
@@SkillShoe-f11 I also just got a notice from my credit card company saying unpaid medical bills won’t be pulled on credit reports starting 2023, I forgot exactly what it said though. I just skimmed though it, I luckily don’t have any of those types of bills currently.
Just remember, you're always living someone else's dream! As someone who has suffered similar it will get better. Here's a little towards the medical bills.
My wife had surgery on her ankle a few years ago and didn't have insurance. Her medical bills were over 30k. When the bills started coming in, she wrote a sincere letter basically letting them know that she didn't have the money to pay it back. They forgave her debt entirely and she didn't have to pay anything. Hospitals have allocated funds to cover certain debts that cannot be paid off. Look into it, RGT and hopefully you can get some help. Much love and please take your time to get better. Health is wealth.
What this guy said! If they aren’t able to forgive debt, get on a payment plan, make the minimum and see if you can negotiate a better cash rate or if they’ll write it off after X amount of on time payments. Sadly these types of situations are ones that many of us have all felt
I'd call them when you receive the bill. My girlfriend had an 80k hospital bill. She called and said, "There's no way I can afford this." They dropped it down to 8k. It's important to do this at the beginning of the year, hospitals have a budget set aside that they use to help in these situations annually. Glad you're alive, man. Definitely one of my favorite people on UA-cam!
That's crazy those kind of 80k bills are even a thing in the US. I'm from France and living in Quebec rn, we'd never receive such huge bills. How does anyone in the US afford treatments??

to be fair, he has the option of having insurance through ACA, or Obamacare (healthcare dot gov) - looking, it's affordable. My plan costs more than something for RGT, even though I have it through my employer. There was initially a fee/tax/fine whatever you want to call it for NOT having some manner of health insurance while Obama was president, that was rescinded under Trump. I always saw it as more or less paying for a waiver that says "I'm not eligible for insurance through work or I'm self employed/unemployed, and I don't want government health insurance either". but i agree with you - I even work in healthcare, and I believe the insurance industry is busted as can be.

Make sure to ask for an itemized bill. The hospital will reduce the amount , usually by a good amount. I'd also ask for a negotiation on price. Medical debt is often not paid and if you reach out and ask for a settlement on the debt , they will likely reduce cost further and allow payments since passing off debt to debt collectors is a huge financial loss to them.

Nothing will get done about the terrible healthcare system if we don't get out into the streets to fight for it. Those bastards in Washington (Rs and Ds) won't do anything for the American people unless they are forced to.
At least the government doesn’t get to decide if they want to pay for your surgery or not. I’d rather take “electing” to have a procedure over the government saying my life isn’t worth saving.
something similar happened to me. i had been having a headache for a couple of days which had never happened before. i happened to pass by a pallet of blood pressure testers at costco and it was on special so i decided to buy one just in case my headache was related to that. it read my blood pressure at 180 and i immediately went to urgent care and was prescribed medicine. what also screwed with me was that a couple of days later i got an infection which was making my heart accelerate which i thought was related to my blood pressure. in the end they diagnosed the infection and antibiotics quickly got it under control and my heartrate returned to normal after a couple of antibiotic pills. if high blood pressure runs in your family i recommend getting a home blood pressure monitor and test yourself once in a while if you don't go to doctors often. the one at costco was like 30 bucks which isn't much and can save your from expensive hospital care later on.
Had a stroke some years back and stupidly sat on it for 3 days because I thought “it was just a migraine”, and I was in my 30s, “that only happens to old people!” In hindsight there were plenty of obvious signs I just ignored. Good on you for going to get checked out “for just a earache”, especially after the jaw pain. It’s going to be pricey, but you’re still here man. Get well soon!
Sounds eerily similar to what happened to me. I had a stroke this past August (I'm also in my 30s) and unbeknownst to me I had blood clots in my left 🦵, 🫁, ❤️ and 🧠. All of which caused a stroke. I had the headache and leg pain and didn't think much of it but after 3 days I was taken to the hospital.
@MY CATS COOL well worth pointing out when it happened I lost a lot of vision on my right side (think seeing giant spots) and right then and there I should have known that wasn’t normal. I was being stupid, but I will say in my defense I probably wasn’t thinking straight for obvious reasons. Mine ended up being due a PFO (basically a hole in the heart between two chambers) and I’m good to go now with minimal lasting effects. I would just tell you, as someone that has had migraines for years, you probably know when it’s a run of the mill one or something that feels drastically different. If you ever get that feeling, that’s when it’s best to go get checked out.
I feel you bro. I just lost a kidney and only reason I knew is because I was in the ER for a kidney stone and I too didn’t have health insurance. I’ve been struggling with the hospital bill but I felt comfort when you said maybe you’ll sell some games. I felt that. I too need to go that route. Get better!

Has anything changed over the past months or years that could have influenced this? Have you taken any covid shots or boosters within the last months? I know many have had heart conditions since taking them and have had friends/family that had similar symptoms and incidents after they took the shots.

About a quarter of the IRSs yearly $1.7 trillion income tax goes to hospitals and medical programs and I dont pay for something twice you see. Hey brother I had this happen to me too, only 31 years old on November 4 same issue high blood pressure. I had to get a heart cath and a stent placed. We can change our lives for the better, I have a son and a wife I must live for. It's been almost 3 months and finally I'm feeling like myself again, don't worry about it you just gotta stay strong it will be a process.
Wow! Glad to hear that you are doing fine after having a heart attack like that!
You know, you are one of the few lucky ones to survive that kind of situations and be able to tell the story afterwards.
Just take care man
Yes Wonder what it could be 💉
Dude take care of yourself! The community needs you. Stay safe.
Honestly so glad that you're still here. And yeah, there's just no way to win with health care in this country, I've been in a similar position myself. I hope you're able to work something out to pay back the bills from this man. Best of luck and hope you're feeling better soon.
Quit buying junk you don't need and get some insurance. Responsibility is not completely dead in America yet
@@franklinjablonsky7613 bahahahaha idiot.
its your own fault for not asking hospital finance and billing to help. they will find hte govt and private funds to pay for most if not all of your bill.
The phrases I use are "health insurance isn't a scam, but it is a racket" and "American health care is more about the lack of care."
Seems to be alot of that going around with the vaxxed and boosted lately, stay pureblood stay safe. And if you resisted the mandates and the vax propaganda and used common sense, then bummer to hear.
Doubt it. UA-camrs are clueless
Wow RGT 85, lucky escape there man.
I am glad you got checked out and you are back on track bud 👍👊💜.
As someone who just went into Urgent Care, after a sun a blister bursted and caused an infection ultimately giving me cellulitis, I know where your head is at. I thanked god so many times that I went in because it could’ve been very bad on my leg. Have a follow-up with my physician tomorrow actually!! Take time to heal! I’ll pray for you! Thanks for sharing!
Blessings and a speedy recovery RGT. You can't put a price on your health. Sending you good vibes from the Caribbean.
Hope your gonna be all good dude sending love from the UK 🤘🏻
Shout out the UK gaming crew!!
I get panic attack frequently and think I'm dying, impending doom, numbness, chest pain, etc. I don't bother calling the ambulance anymore. They are terrible. Hope you're feeling better.
Never vaxx always relaxed
As soon as you started talking about it I knew it was a heart attack, I lost my grandmother to a heart attack. I'm glad you're ok, my dude. We're all rooting for you. Your health is the most important thing.
It’s a sad day in American when we have to choose between electing to have a medical procedure done or possibly die because we can’t afford the procedure. But nothing seems to get done about this issue millions of us face every year. Well wishes to you brother!
Absolute hyperbole! The government loves to use our tax dollars on the few who really need help and the millions who are just lazy and irresponsible.
Nothing will get done about the terrible healthcare system if we don't get out into the streets to fight for it. Those bastards in Washington (Rs and Ds) won't do anything for the American people unless they are forced to.
Don't worry though, at least we make sure to send billions to Ukraine
At least the government doesn’t get to decide if they want to pay for your surgery or not. I’d rather take “electing” to have a procedure over the government saying my life isn’t worth saving.
@@ajmatt574 also, at least the government don't decide to make you take am experimental vacci..... oh wait
something similar happened to me. i had been having a headache for a couple of days which had never happened before. i happened to pass by a pallet of blood pressure testers at costco and it was on special so i decided to buy one just in case my headache was related to that. it read my blood pressure at 180 and i immediately went to urgent care and was prescribed medicine. what also screwed with me was that a couple of days later i got an infection which was making my heart accelerate which i thought was related to my blood pressure. in the end they diagnosed the infection and antibiotics quickly got it under control and my heartrate returned to normal after a couple of antibiotic pills. if high blood pressure runs in your family i recommend getting a home blood pressure monitor and test yourself once in a while if you don't go to doctors often. the one at costco was like 30 bucks which isn't much and can save your from expensive hospital care later on.
Dude that is crazy! Get plenty of rest and I hope you recover soon.
Had a stroke some years back and stupidly sat on it for 3 days because I thought “it was just a migraine”, and I was in my 30s, “that only happens to old people!”
In hindsight there were plenty of obvious signs I just ignored.
Just recently lost a friend almost a month ago the same way 😭. She thought it was a migraine but she had a stroke. She was only 42.
I hope you're alright now
@MY CATS COOL well worth pointing out when it happened I lost a lot of vision on my right side (think seeing giant spots) and right then and there I should have known that wasn’t normal.
@@selph8278 I am, and thank you.
Get better!
