Something to remember is not only do you pay the additional cost to purchase a cellular model there is the monthly fee from your cell provider. However, I find the value in it since I don’t like being tethered to my phone.
The gps model has a lot of benefits for those who don’t want to pay an additional fee per month and don’t mind knowing they need their watch and phone within 30 ft of each other with wi-fi and blue tooth for certain features to work.
Probably the best comparison of cellular vs GPS I’ve ever seen. Thanks so much!

this was super helpful with me choosing apple watches i was so confused until now.
I've had the Cellular SE watch for a month now and whenever I go inside building, it struggles with connection on the same network as my iphone. Tried streaming spotifiy and it would randomly stop playing. It only works fine when I am outside (This is in the UK). Using cellular without the phone also drains battery a lot faster. For reference, I can easily go 24 hours without charging, typically it will reach 30% after 24 hours with regular use with the iphone with me. When I go gym and leave my phone at home, it drains the battery by 60% in 1 hour and 30min whilst streaming music. To save battery, you would have to download your music so you don't need to stream it but it then at that point you may as well only get the GPS version. Cellular is only worth it if you can't afford to go a couple hours without your phone (maybe you run a business that requires you to be in contact with your clients or something) because even replying to a message using the watch is a headache. I would recommend having airpods and then you can try using siri to reply.

I still find GPS would suit me personally. Although you can leave your phone at home and take calls using cellular Watch, you have to be sure you have an AirPod or any earphones otherwise your call will be on speaker and conversation will be heard outside.

@@Anglie777 you can’t make calls with the GPS model, only with the cellular. & no, you don’t need apple AirPods to make calls. You could use any Bluetooth earphones
Can I download offline music from spotify to my gps only apple watch and connected it to AirPods directly to apple watch? I might using it for running so maybe i left my phone at home
I rather have the gps version because I have my phone with me all the time and when I’m at work or shopping etc… I just look at my watch to see who’s texting or calling me.. and it’s way cheaper too. I’m happy with my gps and I cannot wait to upgrade ✨

I bought the se 2nd generation as my it’s Apple Watch , it’s great but soon changed it to a cellular model as could not see the point in having a watch if I’ve still got to have my phone with me . Great tutorial thank you

I always have my phone with me but at my job sometimes I put my phone down while I’m working which I have to walk back and forth across a big field which I believe exceeds the Bluetooth reach would the gps disconnect my service from my phone if I’m across a big field
My decision. Based on safety and contact. Bought cellular for family. Kids lose phone all the time. Wife is avid cyclist. I’m usually outside in the yard or garage. Just makes sense for us to always be in contact when and if ever needed.
Does it need to be in a specific distance if both the watch and phone are connected to WiFi?
Cellular is better because if your a person likes being notified 24/7 then it's better but thanks for the comparison video

It's actually a different phone number than iPhone. It's just seems like same phone number because it's directed to your iPhone's number.. Says so on your bill.

If anyone in Australia reads my comment, please be aware. I bought an Apple Watch this week, GPS and Cellular as I was told in the Apple Store that for a few dollars I could use my Telstra iPhone account linked to the watch. This is not true if any of you have a prepaid mobile account, as I do. To enable the cellular connection from the watch will cost me an extra $500.00 a year, with a “pay forward” account, billed monthly. Had I been given the right information, I would have bought the GPS version only and saved considerable money.
So does that mean iPhone is not required other than setting up the cellular watch the first time ?

Why pay extra for something that drains your battery? There's a reason you bought cellphone. No one usually stays away from phone so get a non cellular one.

No, the cellular version only switches to cellular when it doesn’t have the iPhone or Wi-Fi connection.

It’s stupid that you have to pay more to your phone company. You already pay for the account. Imagine if back in the day they charged you for every hardline phone in your house.
It’s BS. And eventually companies will come along and destroy the big telecom companies with entirely new technologies making this look primitive. And obscenely expensive. Just like LD used to be from a landline. Now the words long distance make no sense in terms of taking on a phone. Long dtstavce usedto mean literally a town less than 30 minutes away driving.
You’d get charged an insane minute by minute rate. Just to make a voice call.
If an answering machine answers. You’d get charged for the whole minute or more . Wtf did they do with all that money ? Is that what built Dubai? Like WTF.
