- I review, breakdown and explain House of The Dragon Season 2 Episode 1. I discuss the HBO show which is a spin off from Game of Thrones and the ending which was focussed on Blood and Cheese. I react to the rat catcher, Daemon secretly ordering the death of Jahaerys Targaryen, Aemond's rivalry with his brother, Lary's looking to cause issues with Ser Otto Hightower and what it means for Rhaenyra. I also give my theories and predictions on episode 2.

What did you think of the opening episode of House Of The Dragon Season 2? Let me know your thoughts below!
I found parts of it a let down but loved the TG scenes, especially Aegon, Aemond, Helaena, Alicent and Criston.
Whenever Daemon comes with the hooded cloak, trouble is on deck.
It definitely is. He's so evil but I think I speak for us all when I say we love it
The Rick Grimes murder jacket of the GoT universe.
His fury is a constant fashion show.
I approve.
Facts also when he says a son for a son
Big facts!
Daemon makes the show interesting
Criston Cole should be called the Queen Layer.
Bruh
He has committed his swords (steel and flesh) and his tongue in the service of his Queen!
HOUSE OF DRAGON. Intense tragedy, the fire of anger is only the beginning. Can’t wait for episode 2. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🐲
Does anyone else think the Blood&Cheese scene could have been more dramatic? The book version sure was. Making Helena choose then doing the other one. The writers had it right there on a silver platter. Were they worried it would be too shocking or disturbing? I guess so. Darn shame. I didn't expect them to show a childs head being chopped off but the whole scene was way too watered down. There was almost no tension and zero shock. The tension in the book was from making Helena choose. The shock from when he killed the other one. This had none of that. I think people should be pissed but they want to like it so badly that they give it a pass. Then they go directly to Alicient and Cole doing it. Lame. It was terrible actually.
The Boys: Guy Clone’d himself for Human Centipede
HOTD: Hearing child getting killed crunches
Us: Peak Television✋🙂🤚
I always expected the Blood and Cheese stuff to happen at the end of ep2, i was in goosebumps watching things unfold
I get people being disappointed in the ending because they feel they didn’t make the Queen choose, but she did. She on the first go around gave up the heir, they thought she was lying but wasn’t she now has to live with 1.) seeing a young boys head get cut off 2.) giving up her son. While I would have too liked something closer to the book version this was still a brutal scene
I read it as she was, in the impossible position, thinking that they expected her to lie and thus would go after the other child, thus sparing Jaehaerys. It would have been rather savage of them to make her watch as they did it, and she instead took the other child and fled to the Queen only to find her shall we say giving Ser Crispen a royal "dress down".
TeamBlack now even more.... because we didnt see Alicents " oh mother have mercy on us all" and Otto " you lost one eye, how can you be soo blind?" seemed like the greens didnt care about Lukes death at all , that was actually a good way to make them more sympathetic and they blew it
Doesnt matter wich team ppl are siding on. Nobody wins the dance of the dragons. Evryone suffers.
Alicent plays the part of appearing reluctant and hesitant and unwilling to do violence, but when she benefits from it, she's quite accepting of the results and thus is complicit!
@@angelhr9635 And that's what will make this series practically Shakespearean in its tragic sweep.
Brainpilot with all these peak shows this year what do you predict will win the Next Emmy’s, so stacked with Shogun, HOTD,The Boys, Dark matter a dark horse of mine love it, + more insane 🍿
I think Shogun is going to be the front runner to be honest! Plenty of good shows though
@@BrainPilotcheers mate, yeah that cast crushed it🤝 would be a robbery
For the 2nd episode, I genuinely hope that when Daemon finds out about Blood and Cheese killing Jaehaerys instead of Aemond, he’d be completely fine with it if not expect it.
Not only because it fits with ruthless devil may care attitude with him being satisfied with the head of ANY son of the Greens(as well as add tension with Rhaenyra) but as a seasoned warrior, even if Blood and Cheese do encounter Aemond, he probably knew those two don’t even stand a chance in a fight with him. So who else was the closest male Targaryen apart from the Aemond and Aegon, Jaehaerys.
In regards, to the discourse defending Daemon ‘innocence and blaming D&C for the misunderstanding.
This is Daemon Targaryen, the Rogue Prince, He clearly is not afraid to get and play dirty from pretending to surrender toward enemies to indiscriminately punishing (with NO TRIAL)presumed criminals by cutting of their parts. In modern times, he would be a war criminal. The only honorable trait he has is true loyalty to the Targaryen family, but even then only to his family.
It'll be true to Daemon if he refuses to pay the other half because they got the wrong child.
People saying “they changed blood and cheese”
Is this your first time watching an adaptation? Or a thrones season? Who cares? Shit was brutal enough.
It was very brutal!
I felt sick watching the scene. It was perfect.
As I was watching the episode I was thinking I wonder what effed up scenes we will get in this season then this scenes shows 10 mins later. I haven't read the books but isn't the house of the Dragon book meant to be a retelling of the targaryen civil through a peasants eyes from centurys afterwards or whatever so what actually happens in the show is what actually happens?
I crunches of it not being clean and it being gruesome. . . Yea it was enough.
Yeah just the sounds alone was enough for me I will definitely not watch it again
Damn thank you for explaing had some questions after watching the vid but now i understand
Glad you enjoyed the vid!
Team black
Daemon went against Rhaenyra’s orders and this will cause the breakdown of their marriage.
Meh...if this is what ruins their marriage, they never should have been in power to begin with and certainly never been married.
Daemon is so dramatic 😂, he sees a straight path he takes the curved one😂😂
Genuinely! It's so funny though
Great episode as far still a little rushed with the story but still Goes out with a bang 💥 for new season 2
Yeah I feel season 2 is going to be a good one!
I agree 100% on your synopsis of the episode! To me, it went by way too quickly.
Glad you also agree!
Helena: “I’m afraid of the rats” ☹️
So sad!
I’ve said it before so why not say it again; this was kind of a letdown
I’m so disappointed….I didn’t need or want blood & gore. As crazy as it may sound that’s not the point of the scene. Yes it’s bloody & brutal but it’s the emotions of what is about to happen. The TENSION & FEAR…SOMETHING ANYTHING!! Helena’s actress is incredible & this would’ve been an amazing scene to just see her lose her shit. I was really looking forward to seeing her really give her all but she never got that chance. What a complete waste of a life altering traumatic event….instead we get Alicent riding Cole…..thanks for nothing HBO 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Edit: oh yeah & dont think showing us 2 seconds of Aegon “playing in a great dad ! Look at me bringing my kid to work bc I really care about my kids!”
Well, HOTD is no GOT but i still have been looking forward to it and now knowing your doing reviews and insights make it all the better. I haven't read the books but the Egg and Cheese horror didn't go as i expected but i do believe the season will get better and better. Great job as always BrainPilot!
Egg&Cheese hehehehehehheh
HOTD doesn't have a truly innocent, noble hero or at least protagonist to root for. Everyone is more than just a wee bit dirty here. House Velaryon may be the least stained of them all.
Criston “SideN-“ Cole
queen helena had that medieval look
Can someone kindly explain to me something, in GoT Lady Olenan said that 'it was all the rage to marry a targ' but clearly marrying out of the family creates potential dragon riders. Did these new 1/2 breed Targs not get a dragon egg in their crib like royal Targ babies? Thanks
It’s maygor’s tunnels. Great video tho
Maegor *
Rhaenys ironically declining to 2vs1 Vhagar and Aemond when that’s what he will plan with Aegon and Sunfryre 😢
The dog kicking scene was the most disturbing act of all series
Who the hell is going to win the emmy’s next?
@@Kevin.Costner. the acolyte
Unecessary just like Cole s* Alicent🤦♂ but the Oscar of Nonsense goes to the F* scene during the so called 'Blood&Cheese moment🏆🤦🤦🤦
@@GhostSnow7how is that nonsense ?
I do not mind writers taking creative liberties, but key scenes should be more in line with the book. Looks like writers are deliberately toning down the shock and impact of such scenes.
This is war, people was always gonna die
It doesn't look as if there are enough Targs to continue the bloodline. I have not read the books but by the end of this war there might be people from each side who might have to f*ck to keep this line going.
I wish they hadn't changed blood and cheese
Jesus Christ. I hate when the book thumpers come out. This is the most overdramatic fan base I’ve ever seen. The scene was fine, and you’ll keep watching.
@@mattcollins3591 I've never read the book, but I expected more from this
@@TowelsKingdom Then I really do not understand your statement.
@yubdailee I kind of get it, i never read the books but i heard all the hype around blood and cheese and was expecting something way worse then it actually was which made the scene very underwhelming.
@@mattcollins3591 the show is based on a book. Cry me a river. People expect certain things and this scene was underwhelming to say the very least.
This is odd.. I haven’t seen the episode yet but the discourse I’ve seen for the first episodes wasn’t what I was expecting from some.. people are saying they ruined the “Blood and Cheese” thing
They didn't lean into the decision making/emotion that was in the book. However, they focussed on the audible experience after and the sense of panic which did still work
Because this fanbase is the most overdramatic I’ve ever seen. The scene was fine.
The scene was brutal.
i think everybody wants everything to be book related and just like the book but i could’ve sworn the book was told through the pov of an unreliable source or a biased source! i could be wrong tho, that’s why i have no problem with the blood and cheese scene. it was still terrifying.
Not in direct reply to OP, but I do sympathize with people who have read F&B and were expecting more for the screen b&c… wasn’t the major reason why Martin joined the show as a direct consultant was to avoid the gaffes made by D&D for GoT (s8) so logically these viewers are expecting not maybe necessarily a word for word, 1:1 adaptation but something that builds tension and dramatizes something to the max, which was books faithful and what made Got s1-4 (incl. RW) so good.. haven’t seen any HoD aside the YTs free screening of S1e1 so I can’t absolutely say much about b+c except based on the general complaints that it was underwhelming to some extent (I will give credit to Sapochnik and team for keeping the actual gore off screen… just the sounds is disgusting enough!
They did very good about the scenes.
it's gotta be the Blue Wedding, right?
All fair in love and war
what is the duration for season 2 episode 1
About an hour!
“A Song of Blood & Cheese.”
Overall, i thought Episode 1 was pretty good and had suspenseful moments. It was difficult to remember some characters because its been at least two years since we've last seen them
That's fair. As the episodes go on that will most probably change though
Team Green
that explain why war started on episode 1 so early , hoist the black flag ... meanwhile dog people are pissed that ratcatcher kick the dog , lol
2 episodes shorter along with 35min air time. Its not just you sir.. you see the credits and trailers was like 20mins worth. Such a waste.
I don’t think that was the boy who got off’d.
Why do all these UA-camrs think they need to explain this to us?
2:45 he was so close to his son but didn't know where he was, what he was doing or where he was doing it at... right...
Yeah ikr
thank you for not buying into this very hokey writing
The most horrific scene of the entire HOTD was whitewashed and changed for people to not gain sympathy for Team Green.
This show is so...meh. If it weren't for all the influencers reviewing it, I genuinely think people wouldn't watch it as much. It's just such a spectacle...now Shogun was great TV and didn't need videos after every episode to keep people engaged.
The sound was to much killing a babe
HOTD is very mild compared to GOTs.... quite expected plots somehow
They messed up the blood and cheese scene. It was supposed to be traumatizing.
It was. Did you watch on mute or something?
@mattcollins3591 Nah, they turned the most important event of hotd into a dumb scene.
@@Gaite4354 that is definitely not the most important event lol 😂 stop
@mattcollins3591 Yup, it's no longer an important scene. It's just incompetent writing.
Do you not consider choosing which of your children's head will now be cut off traumatizing?
Does anyone think some of acting is a bit off?
some of alicent's audio to me seems like it is someone else speaking. idk exactly why
Maelor left out isnt much big of deal , even for the scene of rat and cheese and ´´choosing between jahaerys and maelor´´ but sof ar, leaving out Daeron the daring , thats a problem, we shall see. Otherwise well made plot even with maelor absent
Disappointing first episode. Was kinda boring.
A son for a son
Sucks Damon dies smh
The blood and chesse scene was underwhelming
We need D and D back.
They wouldn't have held back
They would have gone all out. Blood everywhere, screaming, crying, etc the whole 9 yards
Absolute garbage. I'm done. NowTV subscription already cancelled.
So The idiot makes it easier for Aemond to be king
What a ruining of a scene
