mrfrogbutt1 Ha ha ha, I agree that Rob Zombie sucks shit for the most part, and I also see your point about Freddy vs Jason being like a comic book. The action was cartoonish, and most of the characters lacked depth, even by horror movie standards. Still, I enjoyed it overall. I have friends that see it your way though and say it blows goats.
Why can't people make soundtracks like the golden years? I hear this song, and I flashback to standing in the video store on Friday night and my mom has that face like" you're renting Friday the 13th again" good times.
I don't see how anyone could say part 8 is their fav! No blood,no Crystal Lake, and shitty ending! Only good thing about this F13th is Jason's look. Hell, even the classic sound was missing except for the opening credits but wasn't like the original sound. They made it sound stupid with the "Ja Ja Ja Ja son son son son" instead of "Ki Ki Ki Ki Ma Ma Ma Ma".
Pure 80's cheeze. I remember great times on Fridays when mom would take us to the video store and we would rent 2-3 horror videos. Saturdays was Freddy's Nightmares and Monsters on television. We would get Philly Cheesesteaks and watch our movies. Great memories. Still have all my giveaways from the video stores lol.
By the way I fucking love this video! I have watched it like 29 times. The song is fantastic and brings back fond memories of renting this movie on VHS back in the day. The footage is expertly edited with flawless story telling and film re cap. Truly great work! All the springwood slasher videos are perfection! Kudos to the whole team! Keep making videos!
Interesting fact, the guy that did the score for the television series, did the score for the movie. He's also responsible for this song "Darkest Side of the Night".
I never minded the movie as well. I got small problems with it but overall I still like it. I love that song more though, back when movies had great themes to go along with the movie or even expand sometime.
Continuity effort was almost zero, acting was pretty dry and campy (even for the late 80s), editing was extremely shoddy compared to previous entries, and the fact that 75% of the movie takes place on a boat rather than in New York. The only actual shots of New York that are real is the Times Square scene, the subway chase, and the Statue of Liberty footage. The rest of the New York footage was shot in Vancouver. Nostalgically yes the film is awesome, but when you actually sit down an analyze it, it’s really just a ton of missed potential. It could have been far better than what it is now. It must’ve been a huge letdown considering all the promotion surrounding it back then. It’s also the weakest of the Paramount entries. It preformed so poorly that Paramount licensed-off Jason to New Line Cinema and wouldn’t get involved with Jason again for 16 more years when the reboot came out. Jason Takes Manhattan really marked the end of an era.
the final girl, young boy jason, and the ending are honestly the only things i HATE bout the film...take 1 of those away and improve on the other 2, and this movie probably woulda been better received honestly. though it probably doesnt help it was slightly misadvertised; they probably shoulda made it more clear that jason was only gonna be in NY for the final act
It was bad at those days. It's like how California was. Look at the movie "falling down" with Michael Douglas, it was as bad as NYC was back in the 80's. But then again, it gave ny that additude vibe that no one can forget 🤘😎. These movies show the authentic feel of the city. The city now.... Doesn't feel as authentic as it used to be. But I can still feel it in some neighborhoods.😊
himfanatic5 - Oh man, I Loved Falling down. Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall were the perfect protagonist vs. protagonist. However, I really believe as bad as NYC may have been in the 80s, there was unprecedented criminal activity & staggering homicide rates in several urban areas in Los Angeles like no other major U.S.City for the majority of that decade. Cheers for liking & giving recognition to Falling Down. I think more people should watch that film, along with Colors - another excellent Duvall performance. They will give people as real a perspective of life in those rough parts of L.A. short of watching a documentary.
Dude I remember when I was 13 years old and my feet stunk and saw this at the Jose Theatre in San Jose California. Best song ever. Brings me back to the 80's.
This was actually one of my favorite Friday the 13th films. Now, Jason Goes to Hell? That one definitely sucked. Didn't even feel like a Friday the 13th movie. Just a horror movie with a cameo by Jason, lol.
That’s because it’s literally not a Friday the 13th movie. Paramount licensed the character rights of Jason Voorhees to New Line Cinema (like how Sony did with Spider-Man for Marvel Studios). Paramount still retained full control and ownership of the “Friday the 13th” title and franchise. That’s why the film is called “Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday” rather than “Friday the 13th Part IX: Jason Goes to Hell”
Haha at 3:20, a foreshadow of how fans and maybe even Kane feel about Ken Kirzinger taking over the role in Freddy Vs. Jason years later lol. Who would have thought Kane would have the opportunity to throw his replacement into a glass mirror. Still an awesome effect here.
Easily one of the best FTT movies, you people are nuts who say otherwise. They had a $5 mil budget, they couldn't have shot in NY anymore than they did. The soundtrack was great, most inventive kills of the series. Kane was very menacing, I could go on, but you dummies will still not like it cause Jason wasn't in NY enough.
25 years ago, Jason Voorhees dared to come to my home of New York City. He didn't even try to kill every New Yorker in sight. The city was too much even for him.
Amazing movie soundtrack! I know the story/plot was not the best, but the acting was decent, I absolutely loved the new Jason look, characters and the whole movie overall. It may not be the best Friday the 13th movie ever made but it has a special place in my heart.
BRILLIANT & BEAUTIFUL song like a tribute to that exciting 80s era horror fun!!! Lovely almost emotional song to a fun underrated Gem,personally i love Jason takes Manhattan it's up there with Jason LIVES
Listening to themes makes me love a movie and wanna watch it, but when i do everything changes. So ik u really really feel like u love this series. But its not the song if u really do. U love the song, and maybe the series. Im just saying u love the song but thats ok nvm its hard to explain
I love this song. The opening montage with credits and various shots of NYC is amazing (best part of the movie, in my opinion), but this video is well-done too!
I'm 35yrs old I remember the good old days the movies music look at the hair styles n clothes etc of the 80s Friday the 13th was one of the horror movies that stood out today everything sucks movies music etc
Well I’d say there is indeed a drop in quality but there are still some good horror movies that came out today, like Jordan Peele’s “Get Out” was pretty good. And the 2018 Halloween was pretty decent (haven’t seen Halloween Kills yet though)
SonicLamb It makes no sense too. Why the fuck would he leave Crystal Lake for people who already left? It makes him look like an ass. What if others entered the camp while he's gone? Actually this would have been a perfect time for someone to destroy that fucking place. Just to get rid of Jason.
Well he did kill the two junkies and the sanitation worker while in New York, but didn't kill the street thugs, the diner manager, or any of the people on the subway. So it's just odd how he picked and chose who to kill in NYC.
Thanks for the upload ! Orginally when In the works. The whole movie was supposed to take place in NYC..But When told of How much it would cost them !! Most of the movie was filmed in Vancouver And on the boat !!
Me and my friends played this song at my school. We were Friday the 13th fans at the time. I know people would wonder why a killer would play their own song so Im just gonna say it I only made this account because I am a fan of Jason. :P
First time i watched it, at home in the dark, it was actually scary for the all the scenes with the night on the boat with jason killing and the storm. This movie has great deaths and to me had great sequence. Lets no forget the Last creepy shot of Camp Crystal lake at the beginning! Great movie but not my favorite
This is an underrated movie. I see how other people can dislike it, but I love it. It's fun and the end is Jason in Manhattan. really awesome song and vid. I don't the flick but i think it pissed a lot of people off that despite the title of the film, jason is only in manhattan for about the final 20 minutes...
The song the darkest side of night is a awesome and amazing song. Jason Voorhees is the best serial killer and no one does it any better than Jason Voorhees. Jason Voorhees has more better arsenals than anyone and he knows how to make a kill better than anyone. He has more kills than Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger and Ghostface.
This song and movie is pretty much the 80s saying good bye
Haa Yeah It Totally Is. #80sbaby #TheBestDecade
Nice way of looking at it.
That's what I was thinking.
its a pretty good send off for the 80s
Gumter Faustino This is actually a great movie and a great way to say good bye to the 80's.
The giant dude that Jason tosses into the mirror at 3:20 is actually the guy who would end up playing Jason in "Freddy Vs Jason", Ken Kirzinger.
Phibes Lives Freddy Vs Jason a HORRIBLE movie!
mrfrogbutt1
I disagree, but I view it as its own thing, a standalone film aside from the continuities of either franchise.
Phibes Lives I just saw it at the movies on opening and just think of it as a comicbook idea, terrible film. Its just as bas as anything by Rob Zombie.
mrfrogbutt1 Ha ha ha, I agree that Rob Zombie sucks shit for the most part, and I also see your point about Freddy vs Jason being like a comic book. Phibes Lives Im all for popcorn movies but I try to erase stuff that really doesn't add to the original basic concept.
Why can't people make soundtracks like the golden years? I hear this song, and I flashback to standing in the video store on Friday night and my mom has that face like" you're renting Friday the 13th again" good times.
Network Video the panhandle of Forida in the early 90's. Same exact scenario. My mom never understood how I could watch those movies so many times.
My first rental movie was the final chapter i was 8 or 10 i think. I was hooked ever since
Right!!!!!! Even if the movie Isn't good It had a damn good theme. I like Part 8 though.
I know the feeling it's having a Tab all over again. (soda)

@@bmh072k7 psst I don't know if you have ever heard of this but there's something called an opinion
Kane Hodder will always be Jason Vorhees to me.
Kane Hodder IS Jason Vorhees.
Jason is 5 different people, one of them is Kane.
Scorpion Firesome The best Jason actors in my opinion are C.J. Graham, Kane Hodder, Ted White, Steve Dash, and Richard Brooker.
Amen, Joshua, amen! :)
