This is exactly how I feel every time I watch the intro to this movie. I think it’s the reason part 8 is my favorite in the series. It just captures the 80’s so well. Love the “nostalgic sadness” wording. Explains it perfectly.
It's like this... we live in claustrophobia, the land of steel and concrete. Trapped by dark waters, there is no escape, nor do we want it. We've come to thrive on it and each other. You can't get the adrenaline pumping without the terror, good people, and I love this town...

What's really unique with this movie in terms of the kills is that they are ironic deaths for the characters. J.J. is a headbanger and dies with her guitar banged against her head, Tamera does cocaine and is stabbed shards of glass, Wayne is a filmmaker and dies while being filmed, Julius is a boxer and gets his head punched off, Uncle Charles was a toxic uncle and is shoved in a barrel of toxic sludge.

I love this movie. It holds a special place in my heart because it’s the first Friday the 13th film I saw, and I saw it in a theater when I was about five years old. I’m from New York, and even after I got older and rewatched the movie many times, it never bothered me that much of it takes place on a ship or that they didn’t have Jason interact with a lot of iconic New York monuments and locations; to be honest, I think that would’ve gotten old after a while and come across as hokey. I love the film we got, and I love it just as it is.
Don't get me wrong, I love this film too as I enjoy schlocky, campy, trashy movies (especially b movies and Grindhouse/exploitation films) but that gaping plot hole (and there were a few) about how they managed to cross the entire Atlantic ocean to NYC in just an emergency life raft made me burst out laughing while my mom groaned out loud. The fact that the cast & crew even had a Friday the 13th Marathon before they made the film (since they were so convinced that they were gonna make the best one in the franchise) adds to the "so bad it's good" feel that this movie is full of, and the fact that ONLY 5 - 10 minutes of it takes place in New York. I like how it never takes itself too seriously.
@@leeccdoo- They didn't cross the entire Atlantic ocean to New York since they were already in New Jersey. If anything, they could have taken a bus or a van to drive to New York instead of a cruise ship.
